Thank you Adam! For making these great life cycle videos I don’t know what I will do without your channel! They are super good I love your life cycle videos Adam thank you for recording them!
Such a beautiful butterfly! I saw its caterpillar once, but wasn't lucky enough to see an adult. They are rare here in Istanbul, so even a caterpillar was a treat for me.
We found a Swallowtail caterpillar on the sidewalk here in Hamburg last autumn and gave it shelter it in a butterfly "cage", it survived the winter without problems strung up on a dry plant and today became a beautiful butterfly. I tried to film the metamorphosis, but sadly I missed the moment, so I went looking on the net and found your stunning video. Thanks a lot, it was wonderful to watch! "Our" butterfly is still sitting on its twig after several hours, probably because it's cool and rainy day. I guess it'll fly off tomorrow!
Absolutely beatiful Beautiful caterpiller Beautiful pupa Beautiful swallowtail butterfly And great video indeed Your photography and documentary are amazing
That was a very fantastic video. Nice to see the metamorphorsis of this wonderful swallowtail, who is really rare in Germany. Greetings and have a nice week.
InsektenDoku Many thanks for watching my new film. Also here in Poland the Schwalbenschwanz schmetterling is rare. I think a lot of them are killed not only from pesticides, byt on roads hit by the car. It is sad. Welcome soon for Catocala pacta video. Adam
Очередной шедевр! Адам, вы Мастер уровня Гений. Невероятно, сколько времени и терпения нужно для создания таких видео. Но невозможно оторваться от такой красоты. Бабочки прекрасны! Но и гусеницы -- тоже.
Bravo! Fantastic video! So much detail! The Best! Every time I find some, I take the Swallowtail caterpillars from fennel plants in the garden and let them grow up in a big jar; it protects them from predators- ( there are very many birds in my garden) I always try to show the different stages to children or people who have never experienced it, it is wonderful! Your video shows some moments I have never been able to witness, altough I have raised many of these butterflies. Several times the caterpillars I raised in August or September became butterflies only the following spring ! Thank you for sharing!
Adam, you have mastered creating such beautiful videos of this amazing butterfly. I raise Eastern Black Swallowtails in northern NJ across the hudson from NY City, and I make videos as they metamorphose, but I will never be able to do what you have done. Thank you.
+Julchens Welt Dear Julchens, machaon is beautiful, it's true, but unfortunately vanishing species. Especially a lot of butterflies die under the wheels of cars. Regards, Adam
+Adam Grochowalski Exactly, as I found out the other day...couldn't avoid hitting one in my direct path...did a u-turn, picked it up to die 'peacefully'...felt very bad, am crying now....kept specimen to show how beautiful if i go teaching...have one on a citrus tree having just formed it's chrysallis, watched it grow rapidly...butterflies, moths are amazing working hard for us, like all the other beautiful creatures on this planet. Stunning video, thank you.

So let me tell y'all a story I am an adopted child, and one day I went to go see my biological mother and her boyfriend. My mother was living in the same town but she was drunk most of the time so I didn't get to see her, but today she was sober and I would meet her boyfriend, since It was not that far I wanted to walk, so me and my father ( the one that adopted me) were walking along when I suddenly saw a butterfly. It was wounded badly and it was going to die so we took it to go show my mom. When we got to her house a bunch of my family members were there like my aunts uncles cousins etc then I saw my mom and I was happy. I met her boyfriend but there was something off about him but I didn't know what. Anyway me and my mom were talking I showed her the butterfly ( my dad that adopted me was holding the butterfly) after it was time for me to leave so me and my dad were going to walk back home when we were stoped by my moms boyfriend, he walked up to my dad and grabbed the little butterfly and crushed it in his hand then threw it on the ground and stomped it( keep in mind I was like 7 at the time) he told us to leave very harshly. My dad complained to my moms and to the police because even tho it was a butterfly it still had a life and family. Turns out that guy was part of a special group for crazy people ( I knew there was something wrong about him!) Anyway I'm done Btw I'm 14 now and the trauma is still with me and in time I hope to recover Also very nice video I love your photography it seems very mystical 💜💜❤️❤️💙💙💚💚
I agree with the other wows! Your footage is beautiful! I also love seeing the different developmental stages--I was trying to identify a caterpillar-turned out to probably be Dryocampa rubicunda - but I never would have gotten that close if I hadn't happened on your video showing the first pupa. Thanks for putting these out here! Do you speak English? Would you have any interest in skyping into a high school biology classroom about your work?
Ganz gut...….ich habe alles genoßen!! Thank you, again AG!!

Hallo Adam, as I can see you also are very enthusiastic about Papilio machaon, like me ! With your video you did a very nice and time consuming job (I know it from my own experience). The clips, when the caterpillar is leaving its egg are just fantastic! Please go ahead like this! Rüdiger
Hi Rüdiger, I am sorry for some troubles with answer. Our university server is sometimes strange. Thank you for your letter. Yes, I am in love with machaon. This is not only a beautiful butterfly, but very rare. Increasingly rare. That's why every year I grow its large amounts to grow the local population. With your films I learned a lot and now I'm doing mine. Thank you once again Rüdiger. Soon I invite you for a new movie about Catocala pacta.

Hi. No, I have no greenhouse. However in one of my rooms I organised some place for breeding insects and also I I cultivate also some plants. Having the possibility to observe all stages of insect development it is great to document this with my camera. But it sometimes requires a lot of patience. It's a fact. Regards! Adam

hi Adam i have 8 butterflies deformed and i raised them well why are they having a lot of injuries do u think its because of the parasitic wasp or tachinid fly?. Please help me.
I'm not Adam(who passed away last year) and your comment is already two years old,but I comment though. If a butterfly hatches it is necessary to leave it alone till its wings are in final shape and dry, otherwise their wings will deform. Also if a butterfly hatches then there were no parasites. I think you took the freshly hatched butterflies when their wings were not completely in shape, that's why they were deformed.
