Greetings Brother Maponga and Mama T. It is an honor to write to you about the views on polygamy! I was really able to grasp a better understanding about the biblical historical culture and truth about polygamy right in Africa where God began his Creation! I didn’t realize as people of God how much we ignored the culture of polygamy from a biblical historical perspective.. However I don’t believe that God has a polygamist mindset about marriage for example, in Genesis God created only one wife for Adam. Also God called Israel out of a polygamist nation which believed in many gods, many religions and having many wives. God was calling Israel back to oneness and the Genesis of believing in one God, one way and one wife! In my my own option and understanding polygamy started because of sin which creates a messy people!
Polygamy can never be functional in a sinful world with sinful people no matter how much we try! For example, when we take a look at biblical history and polygamy it has always been sinful, messy and evil! I believe that monogamy and polygamy are choices man would have to make and from these choices are consequences wether good or evil. Yahoshua said in the beginning man leaves his father and mother and cleaves to his wife!
I truly thank God for both of you for your knowledge, wisdom and understanding about the historical biblical times this conversation really opened my mind and enlightened me on what we need to understand as people of God so that we can serve our Creator in wisdom and truth. When one looks at the scriptures from a “post fall of man” condition then you can come to this kind of conclusion. I see no problems with Polygamy if the women are carry alone in decision making as it use to be in African culture and traditions.
Women can do same if they wanted a second Husband but it advisable to make it a law from the beginning.
