Grav carries the ball and escape pressure well; Zub breaks play, dictates tempo, and keeps the ball; Mac create and disrupts oppositions' defensive play; with the fire power and runners upfront from the likes of Salah, Lucho, Jota, Nunez & Gakpo; with the depth in squad; EPL is not ready for Liverpool. I hate to see that happens. This would suit Slots methodical counter attacking play very well. With the Zub & Grav as double pivot orchestrating play from deep, Liverpool can bring down any team. It will feel like Casemiro, Kroos & Mordric trio at Real Madrid.

We didn't even know if Gravenberch was going to stay at Liverpool, he stayed, he's a starter and he's had an incredible start to the season, the new system installed by Slot suits him perfectly while his first season with Klopp didn't go very well and he wasn't playing much now if he gets injured there's Endo but I'm not too keen it would be better to take another 6

The way to make that work over the course of a season would be to never start Gravenberch and Jones together, however I am not sure that is in Slot's thinking. Zubimendi looks like he could sometimes stand in for Ryan, and sometimes stand in for Alexis. In that regard, he could still be the perfect player to unlock more options for Liverpool. You can effectively play Szoboszlai, Elliot and Chiesa in Salah's position, and the CAM position could be held down by either of Elliot, Szoboszlai or Gapko. Suddenly the team is a bit over-abundant but looking really healthy for legs. A small tweak like that could win the title. The only other options to me would be Bakayoko to cover for Salah and get Szoboszlai to train for the pivot position further up the field (like Jones). The team has really great talent everywhere and you only add players to that to raise their quality at the right time. If you add 2 or so players in January whilst they are riding high, it arguably undermines the squad who have gotten Liverpool so far. Take Robertson who performed admirably against Villa. That was the world's greatest left-back not so long ago and we have him to rotate with Tsimikas and Gomez. Insane depth. Adding Kerkez now would easily undermine the team unless we got a major offer for someone. Even then.. Goncalo Inacio could help our depth at CB, LB and CDM. He's a reasonable signing to make in January although the price would be steep. Zubimendi gives options to the squad. Bakayoko fills in for a guy who might not need resting this season (who knows?). Marmoush would realistically have to fill in for Salah as the LW position belongs to Diaz, Gapko and even Darwin plays there. I think one addition balances the squad but it is hard to say. We could take 2 if we sell. Then after winning trophies this season, the summer signings make that momentum carry over to another season. As an example, I think Diaz helped our depth in 2022 when he joined. The following year Gapko joined an ailing squad and I don't feel he saw his best days for almost a year after. So making the right signing at the right time is how you oil the squad. Who is the best January option?
