The most important evidence is 9,700 texts between Ohtani and Ippei during those 3yrs and not one text mentioning a bookmaker, bets, gambling, and money transfers
That may be the case…but how do you if they had conversation internally person to person …maybe they decided not to leave a digital trail or any phone messages …but hey I’m only speculating 😅
That's because you can search for keywords like "gambling" then it shows all the texts and you delete em all
@@robreeto Lol FBI can pull those "deleted" messages. You think people keep all messages ? All they need to do is get a warrant for the service.
In regard to the home run ball and the translator, the translator did not lie he simply inferred Ohtani’s context incorrectly. Shohei basically said the fan was spoken to and the ball will be received. But the translator said that I spoke to the fan. He definitely did not lie.
It’s the fact that in the Japanese language if you don’t specify the subject, you can’t tell who did what. It is spoken in passive term which can mean he did it or someone else did it. will Ireton didn’t do such a big mistake.
Ippei was even worse..he got sloppier and sloppier as years went. The last year was mind boggling at times. But now we know why…the guy was about to explode with gambling loss stress!!
About the HR ball, Ohtani said “there was a talk with the fan. She gave the ball” in form of humble language. But the new interpreter translated “I talked to the fan”. That’s how the confusion started.
The new guy speaks more clearly than Ippei but I don’t think Ippei would make that kind of mistake since he has many years of experience.
Ohtani is completely innocent here. He never logged in to that account Ippei was stealing from for years according to the affidavit.
Jeff Passan on the Shohei Ohtani incident two weeks ago on the Michael Kay Show: "I trust my instincts. And my instincts say: There is something rotten as hell!"
Michael Kay then says, "Your instincts is right!"
Now that Shohei appears to be vindicated, these guys don't apologize for their rush to judgement.
I agree but their to embarrassed to apologize after accusing Shohei without the facts making assumptions and now looking like fools (that's why they keep pushing the conspiracyy theory) And the troll haters will continue to accuse Shohei, that's why they known as haters, but trolls are just embarrassing themselves also.
did you watch what jeff passan said around the same time on this show. he said most likely shohei was innocent.
@@jerms99 I did not see that. I did see him on the Michael Kay Show disparaging Ohtani, though. So, I don't know if this guy plays both sides against the middle. Typical commentator. If he talks both sides of his mouth, he can always claim to be on the correct side.
@@omgbygollywow it was legit a day after shohei's agent recanted his statement. you have to watch it.
@@omgbygollywow also… depending on the information given at the time… this weird thing happens known as changing opinions.
There was an issue with Ohtani’s new interpreter and the home run ball. When the media asked Ohtani about his first home run ball with the Dodgers, Ohtani answered that “someone” talked to the fan and was able to get the ball back. But the interpreter made a mistake and said “I” talked to the fan. I don’t think the new interpreter mistranslated on purpose but he doesn’t seem like a professional interpreter either.
It also didn’t help that a click hungry journalist wrote several tweets and articles implying that Ohtani lied about meeting the fan without reaching out to Ohtani’s camp to check. I felt bad for Ohtani because a lot of people were bashing him when he never said “I met the fan” or “I talked to the fan”. And it turns out that on the day Ohtani hit his first home run with the Dodgers, he was interviewed by the Feds. The whole situation was just unnecessarily blown out of proportion. Good news is that Ohtani met the fan a few days ago and the fan said she was super happy. So everything worked out in the end.
I hope that Ohtani’s agent and the Dodgers hire professional interpreters (not just one interpreter because we saw what can happen when you rely on one person) for Ohtani and do thorough background checks from now on.
Totally agree with you ‼️👍👍👏
I saw some of the interviews and found that this new interpreter missed out many important points and some with totally different meanings, I hope Dodgers should get a more professional interpreter or may be two to ……🤔️🤔️🤔️
Mizuhara was doing the worst thing imaginable in his position as an interpreter. How stupid.
Mizuhara is an evil con man.
He was doing it for Ohtani lmao dude only made 100k a year, where does he get 40 million and how did he have access to ohtanis accounts? Ohtani admitted he met his interpreter gambling 😂😂😂
@@robreeto , grow up! Immature. So you know more than the feds, IRS and homeland security? Silly you.
There are levels of language fluency. It’s not a simple yes or no when you are learning a second language. I’m sure Jeff Passan talked with Ohtani in English, but I doubt he was talking about complicated topics like finances, taxes, or the law which require a higher level of fluency. In addition, one-on-one conversations tend to be easier to follow along in your non-primary language, than discussions in group settings, meetings, lectures, or fast-paced discussions. Plus, I’m sure Ohtani’s level of English now has improved since he came to the US and Mizuhara helped him to set up the bank account he later stole from when he most likely knew very little English.
People don’t get that the reason so much of this feels shady is because Ohtani literally had ZERO idea that he had so much money stolen from him over the course of several years by the time he made the original statement. This guy was a lot more than his translator, basically acted as his personal assistant. He was a slimeball and you can read the court documents to prove it to yourself.
Yep.
When bank and Shoheis reps were like "hey this large expense seems weird is this legit" ippei answered as Shohei.
It's kinda wild that people are dogging Ohtani for being a decent person who assumed another human being would also be decent.
@@918guyjust the world we live in
shohei lives and breathes baseball. turned down 200mil and a big crib back in japan to live with the team. i doubt shohei even spends any money. He doesnt understand english enough so he lets ippei do all his things outside baseball. meaning he probably made shady deals with sponsors behind shoheis back.
Agree. Ippei is a slime ball. Betrayal, deceitful, liar, thief. Conman.
The problem in Ohtani's case wasn't federal agents wanting to make a name for themselves, but so-called reporters, namely ESPN's Tisha Thompson who fell for the conman's story, reported it uncritically and tried framing the victim as the perpetrator. No journalistic integrity whatsoever, no correction, retractions or apologies to Ohtani whose reputation she seriously tried to damage for the sake of being the first to report the story. How does this woman still have a job? She even has her article with the totally fake Ippei version pinned to the top of her twitter profile? So she's proud of getting conned by Ippei and writing about it...? 🤦🏻♀️
Isn’t that the story Ohtani gave until retracting it a day later? At some point you have to write an article with the information you have available. You can’t blame someone for something that popped up days after the article was written
@@lunarumbreon7699yeah. You can. Why does she have to “go with what she’s got” if it’s not the right story? Why no corrections or apologies? It’s her job to get it right or shut up about it until she has all the information verified.
@@lunarumbreon7699we know what to do when we get it wrong. We’ve known forever. Both regular people and journalist alike. We correct the record. We “take it back”. We retract. Has she done that?
Go cry yourself to sleep
Correct! The lazy journalists who just want to get something easy without properly investigation is not journalists but only sensationalists!
Being able to have conversations in English doesn't mean you understand full context of it
There is always a lot lost in translation. My girlfriend is Vietnamese and has been in this country for 10 years and we mostly communicate okay, but a lot of times we misunderstand each other.
@@omgbygollywowoof that’s rough. Communication is imperative to a relationship so that’s an interesting dynamic.
@@user-hi4vw9mu5o We laugh about it. We understand there is a communication gap, but we have a sense of humor about it.
The fact is that Ohtani is the victim here, and he is innocent. But there are haters who want to take down baseball and ohtani....
I agree but guys like Kay Eisen Russo ect... are to embarrassed to apologize after accusing Shohei without the facts making assumptions and now looking like fools (that's why they keep pushing the conspiracyy theory) And the troll haters will continue to accuse Shohei, that's why they known as haters, but trolls are just embarrassing themselves now.

Obviously we don't know Ohtani personally but It really seems like this man does not care about money AT ALL. He was literally giving his paychecks in Japan to his parents. The fact that he's getting the wrap of a money hungry gambler is actually insane.
And his parents in Japan is like him, don’t spend money. Still live in the same house he grew up in. They drive normal cars…
Most Americans can’t comprehend that mindset so they just project themselves on him.
@@mirikaku5811yeah and they still work and have a job.

The situation with Ohtani speaking english is, at the time, meaning 2018, 2020, he probably wasn't as fluent as he is now. Overall, if he trusts Ippe to speak for him and they are friends, I think there was no reason for Ohtani or his agent to not believe him.
Jeff Passan on the Shohei Ohtani incident two weeks ago on the Michael Kay Show: "I trust my instincts. And my instincts say: There is something rotten as hell!"

Both Jeff Passan and Michael Kay owe Ohtani an apology for jumping to unfounded conclusions and making insinuating comments.

Nah, ohtani fans are just in denial

In the first place, there's no way the IRS would be kind to a man who might receive $680 mill of the $700 mill in Japan
It will get taxed... and you can bank on California drooling for their piece too
Japan has higher tax rates than California, no benefit moving there.

Exactly. He sets the account with Ohtani when Ohtani just came to America. He knows the password, code and answers to question. Ippei is a lowlife conman.

I think that’s why these shows and people’s comments on social media are important. The haters wont go away but there are some people mislead by incorrect information.

How is it ALLEGEDLY, Jeff Passan??? Eppei even stated in his text to the bookies "TECHNICALLY I DID STEAL FROM HIM" Enough already of the conspiracy theories and speculations towards Shohei Ohtani, Jeff. Do you even read the 37 affidavit instead of highlighting the part you wanted to see? The term "TECHNICALLY" Eppei used, meaning he set up the account, change the settings and impersonate him through a phone call.
That no country for old men line was a gem. Totally missed by pat.
Love how they did their imitation of the rock with the millions at the beginning.
Love this show!

The fact that this dude literally is best friends with the Babe Ruth of are day and still can’t win his bets is more astonishing me then the fact that he was doing it. 🤯
I would tend to think that after at least 6 years, ohtani wouldn't need a translator
This is maybe the dumbest bookie in history if he's floating this guy MILLIONS of dollars. I really want to know how much the bookie lost in all this.

so now we're up to $40 million in gambling losses. I would think a bookie would cut him off way before he got to $40 million.
I wanna see his bets… like what were the bets.. moneyline, spreads, totals, parlays, what the heck was he doing?
Love when Jeff comes on the show
The interpreter is a genius ! He not only fooled his best friend but he fooled the accountants and the IRS when they file their tax returns ! The IRS never questioned when he won money and deposit it back in his account ! If you're off by $5 with the average person's tax return you get audited !
The IRS does not monitor private persons bank accounts. This was the banks fault, they should have alerted authorities.
Ippei deserves a ring if they win. No one just flat out admits they stole 16 mil unless they are taking one for the team and want the story to go away. They let their lawyers do the talking. Are people this naive or dodger fans?
It's a scary world out there. Who knows who's the huge bookie that could be after this translator's life so he has no choice but to turn himself in the feds for protection.
how does an interpreter have $40M to lose?!?
bets 183 million, gets 140 million back. way she goes, sometimes she goes sometimes she doesn't. this time she didn't. way of the road bud.
Ohtani was betting through the translator…. Stop the cap
BREAKING: Pat has suffered a torn ACL
Interpreter was the fall guy go back to the first press conference about this. Then what 3 hrs later. Nope complete opposite. Ohtani joking with him in the dugout after he found out he stole 4 mill..... come on he is the fall guy
Shohei is a victim of his own money theft.
And even if the money is legally claimed, it is so expensive that Ippei has no ability to pay it and will never get it back.
Shohei is a victim who is likely to lose his money as it was stolen from him.
What is this strange way of thinking where the victim is bashed instead of the perpetrator?
Similar fact. Mr Billy Joe story. Wife left him 4 friend.
stealing mils.
How do you not know 40 mil is missing really
You didn't listen? There was not 40 million missing
A point to be made here is the actual job of a professional interpreter. It’s not to translate word for word in most cases. It’s to make sure the players responses to media are formal and official and given in a way that is understandable to the audience. Basically an agent that happens to speak the same language
Must have bet on the Dodgers to make the World Series too much
It's funny that the amount lost keeps changing. Don't you dare mention gambling on Dodgers highlights on MLB Network either. That comment will be removed immediately. Shohei was complicit if not cooperative.
Simple solution - IF it was Shohei gambling, then it will happen again because he is addicted gambler and there will be a trail again to follow and problem solved... BUT if it was his interpreter, which it mostly was.. then no more gambling will be around Shohei ever again.
Ohtani trusted him.
I’m not sure but isn’t what Pat technically saying defamation to this guys name? I’m just asking because I wanna know what to and what not to do……. I agree either way with Pat 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This dude gonna have to commit Seppuku

Sport betting is a disease
I love pat, but every time Jett comes on, it seems like Pat doesn't let him get all his points across. Jett's one of the best guests and he cuts him off a lot. Just a little frustrating sometimes since he's so biased against baseball.
Im not buying the story, Ohtani admitted he met his interpreter gambling.
People are making it sound like what Ippei did stealing money from Shohei is a shock, got to understand it happens all the time. It happened in my bussiness were an employer whose also manager took out money from the campany to use on his expense. Forget the haters that comes on making assumptions, accusation and accusing him without facts, but the media are accusing him because it brings controversy and ratings to their show. Here's some of the clients and associates that robbed and stole money from athletes and celebrities - Tim Duncan was robbed $20 million dollars, John Elway lost $15 million, Kareem Abul Jabbar lost $9 million, Kevin Garnett lost $78 million, Usain Bolt lost $12 million, Robert DeNiro lost $88 million dollars, Elton John lost $29 million, Billy Joel $90 million ect......All by clients, associates and even close partners.
The BaseballDoesntExist video about Ohtani talks about how in 2 years of taking a $1000 stipend from his millions in Salary from his mother, he had $20k left at the end of that time because he doesn’t spend money at all.
Ohtani is taken care of, by the club, and probably doesn’t look at his bank accounts statements.
This guy completely lied to Ohtani, and Ohtani didn’t know why he was fired until AFTER he told the team he was fired in Korea. He had to have another interpreter tell him what Ippe said, and then tell management that’s not lining up with what he was told by Ippe.
All this aside, Ohtani is a person and this has to hurt. Ippe was with him since 2013, and by all accounts, they were best friends.
So what have you been doing with Superboosts?
Isnt that cute.,,Pat thinks the FBI still has credibility
