Your BBQ is just called grilling here. Our BBQ is both the food and a cooking method different from direct heat at high temperature, short periods of time that you're used to. American barbecue cooks for a very long time over indirect heat (usually hardwood or charcoal) and with the smoke of the wood playing a key role in the flavor of your end product. The long cook at low temperature cause connective tissue, cellular structures and fat to break down. It makes the meat incredibly tender and moist. Banana pudding is usually a vanilla custard with layers of sliced banana, vanilla wafers and whipped cream.
As a native Texan, it makes me incredibly proud that out of all the places you could go, you chose one of the most authentically Texan dining experiences you can have. Places like Terry Blacks are EVERYWHERE. The only place I'd rank over Texas (that I've experienced) is Louisiana. Their food is on a whole other level with the seafood and French and Caribbean influences. They're untouchable
The only banana in banana pudding is fresh banana slices. The pudding is vanilla. I think a lot of people think the pudding is going to have an imitation banana flavor. The best banana pudding recipe is Paula Deen's "not your momma Banana Pudding", it calls for chessman cookies but you can replace them with shortbread.
I don't know if you saw JOLLY's video they did at Sweet Potatoes Kitchen in Savannah, but their banana pudding looked TO DIE FOR! They put pecans in it. I was drooling.
The pudding my mom used was not vanilla...we made the pudding from the banana itself. But, most are...vanilla that is. We actually made a homemade banana pudding...except the cookies. BTW... I hate banana pudding.
Ain’t it the truth? Videos and comment sections where British food is criticized as bland or dull always attracts someone-usually a Brit-who insists that British food is actually tasty and flavorful, yet every Brit on YT who tries American BBQ is shocked by food that is seasoned.
@@americanmade4791 I had one of the best prime rib dinners of my life in London. It started with a steak and stilton tart that was sinful in it's decadence. It was a wonderful meal.

White bread, onions, pickles, and loose peppers are meant to be nibbled on while you’re eating your meal. The bread is a palate cleanser and the other things introduce brightness into the meal.

So now you know: BBQ is a food, not an event. Unless we are serving actual BBQ’d something, when we have friends over to eat something cooked on our grill it’s call “cooking out” or “grilling”. We never say “we’re having “a” BBQ”. When we say we’re having BBQ, that means the actual food is BBQ be it ribs, chicken, brisket, etc. I loved watching you enjoy the wonderful food! Glad you had fun!
😂🤣 Creamed corn, the sweet creaminess is just from the sugars and starch released by breaking up some of the kernels before cooking. You could get a can at the grocery store. That would be epic!!😊❤
😂
As a native Texan, it makes me incredibly proud that out of all the places you could go, you chose one of the most authentically Texan dining experiences you can have. Places like Terry Blacks are EVERYWHERE.
The only place I'd rank over Texas (that I've experienced) is Louisiana. Their food is on a whole other level with the seafood and French and Caribbean influences. They're untouchable
Louisiana is a close second to Texas for food but for sea food…it is #1
I sincerely hope our patronage paid for a good portion of your trip because you both ABSOLUTELY deserve it ❤
It's such a shame. Britain conquered half the world over spices then refused to use any of them.
LOOL….so true
Not true. You need to true the national dishes of Britain.
Pizza, and curry.
@@alanfoster6589 Britain did not invent either of those lol
@@Gregory-qu1ctthat’s the point 😂
Wait….Haggis is spiced! 🤮
I love your mum with the cowboy hat! She blends right in! And your son is growing so fast! 🥰❤❤❤
the way y'all keep saying Terry's Black is killing me 🤣😂🤣
Yeah we are sorry for that 😅
They are tongue tied from the foodgasm they are experiencing.
haha. It kinda reminds me of Bob's Burgers when Teddy always says "Bob Burgers.'
@swan4163 in one of the episodes I remember Teddy introducing Gene as Gene Burger 😂
OMG yes, "Terry's Blacks". Especially since they're the people who invented the language.🙄
Your baby is beyond adorable n your mom a proper Texan dressed in her get up . I'm glad Texas treated you proper loved watching y'all enjoy the food
This makes me proud to be born in Texas. I don't live there now, but I appreciate a good BBQ. I'm so glad you got to try it.
I love how she turned to Mum and said Barbeque you need to sort it out. And Mum in the video trying out the Beans and the Ribs holding her Grand baby
"That is the softest meat I've ever had in my life"
Millie - *chuckles*
I immediately thought..."That's what she said"🤣
😂💀💀💀
Giggity? 😂
I caught that as well 😅😅
The only banana in banana pudding is fresh banana slices.
@@sallyphillips9175 I normally use pecans and peacan short bread cookies.
We put 'Nilla Wafers in our nanner pudding. Lol
@@21PiloteerThat's the way my mom and most I have had here in Alabama is made.
I LIVE IN TEXAS AND I HAVE TO SAY WE DO HAVE SOME OF THE BEST BRISKET AND BARBECUE IN THE WORLD
Great post. Terry Blacks is fantastic, one of the very best. After TB’s you might be disappointed with the average BBQ place in the USA
I never thought how we Americans take things like this for granted like slow cooking BBQ/food and actually seasoning it compared to the UK😂.
Americans? We ain't Americans we're texans!
@@OkamiVtubercringe, weak ass power grid lolol
Im fasting for 24 hours and I have to say this is the WRONG video to watch.😂😂😂
😆
Not fair, just not fair at all. I am sitting here watching this eating COLD cereal. Yuk.
think of it as an exercise in willpower !!!
👍
OK - I'll leave quietly ....😮😟
😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
Love that you guys know how to eat ribs the way Americans do- with your hands.. Ive seen some Brits at Terry Blacks using a knife and fork
I having a feeling when you come back Terry Black's will be on the list of go back to.
I'm in Iowa and have always used a knife and fork to eat ribs.
@@brians48now This comment makes me a little sad. Is the BBQ that bad in Iowa? Eating amazing BBQ with your hands is a joy and an experience. :)
This video had me crackin' up! Being a native Texan, I kind of take BBQ like this for granted as I have eaten it and cooked for most of my life. But, to see these Brits dive in and see the looks on their faces and their comments, it made me realize how lucky we are to have this kind of BBQ any time we want it. And, the best Mexican food in the US, too! Texas gives new meaning to the term Foodie.
Wow GREAT Episode!!!! Im a southern boy and grew up grilling and BBQing , And watching you guys enjoy great "Merican" food and shooting guns and be all into it makes me proud and happy your American experiences were great ones!!!!!
Wow Millie looks more happy here, more out going she always looks shy so way to go millie you look great. Now mom is beautiful also I'm 53yrs old and it's hard staying fit and look good but this woman looks amazing.
They are a beautiful family. :)
Mr. And Mrs. H just bought a killer smoker. That’s gonna be your best bet. Maybe the Jolly boys next. Welcome to Texas. 🙌🏼 watching Brits try Texas BBQ is such a reminder to not take it for granted.
I so enjoyed watching Millie be so excited about what she was tasting. She looked so amazed by everything except the pickles. Lol
I just love it when our English friends come and indulge in some great BBQ!!!!!
As a Texan, I'm happy to see y'all enjoy the food so much.
Your mom looks so nice. She literally fits right in with Texas! 😁
Believe it or not, the UK has great AMERICAN BBQ at a place called "Spitfire" in Bristol. The owner was trained in the states.😊
😂😂😂
We are spoiled with our BBQ here in Texas.
I never get tired of it.
I am a Yank who served 14 years Active Duty all over the world as well as the USA. I am so happy you tried Texas BBQ as opposed to BBQ from other states. I am a native of Ohio, however I was stationed in Texas and Kansas City as well as other parts of the US famous for BBQ. For me by far the best American BBQ is from Texas!
BTW, I love watching videos of Brits eating American food as I have been to Britian many times and have tried your food. Cheers.
White bread, onions, pickles, and loose peppers are meant to be nibbled on while you’re eating your meal. The bread is a palate cleanser and the other things introduce brightness into the meal.
Excellent observation
It makes me smile seeing other people experience Texas bbq 😊
the anticipation on her face is priceless!!! she is so wanting, nervous anxious and happy all at the same time. He is also but she is more expressive. You 2 earned this. Fun to watch.
And so it begins. 🥩🍽
Welcome to Texas, guys. Glad you had a chance to experience Texas barbecue. You should also try Tex-Mex and Chicken-Fried Steak while you're here, to get a well-rounded notion of our taste. Enjoy your stay, and God bless.
My fav TH-cam couple at one of my favorite BBQ places in the world. Love this reaction!
This was priceless, watching you two discover genuine Texas BBQ.
The guy in the blue shirt behind you!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂
Haha, love seeing you guys enjoying the best of Texas BBQ! The cheeky look on Millie's face at 9:15 followed by the "get your own" was PERFECT! Glad you had such a good time visiting the States! Come back any time!
If someone opens a BBQ place in London, serving american bbq, they would make millions.
They would get shut down for violating air pollution laws for running smokers around the clock.
@@uninhabitedspace that's fucked up
I had the same thought ❤
So they would have a problem with a smoker for meats, but not say anything about the cars, absolutely stupid.
NAH! just need to create an "EGR" for the smoker LMAO! Recycle and recirculate the smoke and boom not as much air pollution.
Mr H just got schooled by some of the best BBQ pit master in the US. I think all you tubers should go bang on his door. I would watch every one.
😂🤣 Creamed corn, the sweet creaminess is just from the sugars and starch released by breaking up some of the kernels before cooking. You could get a can at the grocery store. Gherkins here are whole pickled cucumbers. There are a lot of different kinds of pickles with different kinds of flavor.
Hope everyone had a good time and enjoyed the food.
So glad you guys enjoyed and was not disappointed. Mum you’re looking good too!
It’s always great seeing our sisters and brothers from across the pond loving American style BBQ. There’s nothing like it. I hope you two had a great time ❤❤❤
My favorite is whenever she takes a bite and just looks over to him waiting for his reaction.
I see Europeans all the time eating in the US and surprised by good barbecue. It's always worth a smile to see someone loving something they didn't know about before. There's a whole set of cooking skills to making good barbecue different to what you're likely ever to have done in England. Totally worth learning though.
You are both now officially, US citizens.
Congratulations.
101 % Texan
Here,Here!!!!
You have achieved barbecue Nirvana.
This makes me so happy to watch it is literally bringing tears to my eyes for some reason! Maybe bc I am a Texan and so I am proud of our bbq and also I can totally realte to how good it is! there is nothing like our barbeque00it is sublime and Im so happy to see people from all over the world appreciate it so much! Much Love to you from Texas!
Also, now you know why Texans are so fat, lol! And the onions and pickles are actually stacked with the meat and wrapped up in a piece of white bread and dipped in bbq sauce--thats how the locals do it...
What the Brits do is considered grilling meat. BBQ you are having is smoking low and slow hours. That is how it is so flavorful and tender.
I love when she took a bite of the brisket and just said "GET YOUR OWN!"
This was fabulous!!! Im so glad you loved our Texas food. Yall's faces when you tried creamed corn made my day, my grandma used to make that for us as kids. It was always a favorite. Poor Archie is gonna see this someday and wonder why he didn't get some of the soft sides and the soft banana pudding and the peeach cobbler! ❤
Millie looked so excited even before the first bite.
She was chomping at the bit!
😂😂😂 Mrs. Beesley has bloodlust in her eyes😂😂😂 Full bore carnivore right there 😂😂😂
I love the foreign reaction of “why are ours so bad!!!???!??? 🥰
America loves the Brits. So glad you enjoyed Amercian cuisine. Texas is the mightiest state in America. Enjoy your stay. Love from Boston Massachusetts.
