Hi , you know i picked up a car seat which i found left outside my flat bin .I thought i can use it for office chair and not let it go to dumping place. I had an idea to get the old office chair and remove the stand to attach on the car seat. Now i have everything , i have the idea on my mind but i am not good at making DIY . So today i thought let me check if anyone out there has the same idea. I didnt believe when i found your video its exactly whats been in my mind the past 2 months. You have given me inspiration. Though i thought of ply wood i was thinking its easier if I remove the seat base of the old office chair and stand together and attach on the car seat . Then attach the armrests and the lumbar part. I will get someone to do it cos I have weakness on my arm, I have limited one hand functioning. Thank you for sharing this video it confirms that the idea will work .
WOW, that turned out really nice! I will do the same thing for when I want a gaming chair. Only thing I think you should've added is some kind of retracting seat belt. The reason being you kept the part that the belt locks into.
totally weird. Had this idea the other day, went to the junkyard and came home with this exact seat. Passenger side eclipse seat. Then this video pops up today. I took the airbag out of mine, wasn't hard at all.
So damn gorgeous!! In my country, Kenya, we don't manufacture gaming seats. So one only has the option to import, which is pretty darn expensive, as they charge by weight. These things are not lightweight, and usually the cost of importation of say, a $200 chair totals to over $400 for transport alone. Then it might end up being uncomfortable 😢. So this is a perfect solution, Thank you!! I've been watching similar videos, and finally here's one with an armrest, which looks pretty called for 😍😍.
Hell naa, just buy a classic office chair with wheels and it will be better for comfort and for your back, sports car bucket seats are the opposite to confort
I also had this idea but after I ordered a office chair and experienced the tiled seat slightly backwards just like this 13:40 I'm not quite sure about this. If the seat is tilted like that it's not good for your back, you can never really sit straight in it it's like you always lay back a bit and this causes you to go forward with your neck which only results in a forwarding neck posture. no no no.
This video is a little bit over a year old...how is the chair and everything holding up? I am currently building one myself with a Van seat...I was originally going to do a welding route but its a bit pricier, and i saw you used wood, so im very interested in hearing how it is holding up using wood!!
I am just about to complete the same project, do you mind if I share you pics of the project? can you give me your email and when my project its done? Greetings

I've been thinking about this for a very long time. Great idea with the old chair parts!
dude you're so strong, ripping out a car seat and ripping out the chair legs and pushing them together, damn.
Funny the seat belt clip is still on 😂 looks good though! 👍
This dope af! You should definitely add race car seat coverings to make it look cooler!
This is awesome Works great is it a store easy to clean
How thick was the plywood you used?

Fantastic project, do you know the load capacity it can hold?
I’m going to do this with one of my passenger seats from my evo 8!
Why dont you call your show the Pajama Project?
Should've kept sliding mechanism anyway, you get more options.

one small problem.... the chair still has an airbag in it.
Before drivin always put your seatbelt
oh there's even safety on the right side if anything happens. Fasten seatbelt and get ready to ride :D

Great job, man! Two questions though, for how long have you used the seat ever since and does the plywood still hold up to this day?
