It is great watching these movies, far more entertaining than what is being thrown at audiences on free to air. Bring back entertainment with this type of drama.

A real nail biter!!! great movie - Warner Baxter is excellent in this role - as the sophisticated psychiatrist with a soft spot for convicts who can reform.
****Spoiler!!! the other person does surface and there is a difference. For seconds you see it,but then it totally disappears and Dr. Ordway wins - it’s almost like he’s buried a “split personality” (as it used to be called). very well acted and directed film. thanks for these movies. they’re so ‘40’s, i love it.

What a great movie. I watched the line of Crime Doctor movies before realizing this last one I watched was the first episode. I had no idea from the other episodes that he had had amnesia. I always wondered why through the whole series he never dated a women or had a love interest? Just the first episode? He was a handsome man and I thought the films would have been more interesting with some women involved with him. But I LOVED the series!

Ray Collins was a real good actor. i remember him as Lt. Tragg. all those actors will always be the people in Perry Mason. i loved that show. Raymond Burr was full of charm and had that twinkle in his eye. had a crush on Paul Drake (who was Hedda Hopper’s son :) Della was charming, too. Mason couldn’t have gotten along without her :) Hamilton Burger was played by William Talman. When i was about twelve, he made one of those public announcement ads the networks put on for free. he was dying of lung cancer and told us very seriously not to smoke. he was why i, and i’m sure many others, didn’t smoke. i’ll never forget that ad! what a standup guy! 🌹🌱🥀

I have been watching some of the other movies in this series so I was a bit puzzled in the beginning of this one until I looked this one up and found out that this was the first one of the series and gave us the back story of Dr. Ordway. After watching this movie for a while, I remembered having watched it before but not knowing that there were other movies that followed. This is what happens when you reach 68 years old, as I am..LOL..!! I appreciated this movie more than the first time I watched it because I knew what this first movie led to. Thanks, D D, for giving us this one.

      The Crime Doctor's Warning -- September 27, 1945
      Just Before Dawn -- March 7, 1946
      Crime Doctor's Man Hunt -- October 24, 1946
      The Millerson Case -- May 29, 1947
      The Crime Doctor's Gamble -- November 27, 1947

      John Morris.....
Hi there. Have you ever worked for the Movie Studios? I was just wondering because you are so excellent at knowing all of the actors and their parts.
I have a name I'd like you to investigate for me which is:
1.) Natalie Kalmus. She was a Technicolor Color Director for MGM in the 1940's and 1950's.
I ask because my parents had a gorgeous and beautiful blonde television set from 1952 when my dad bought it. It was in the Art Deco Style with two closing front doors, and one oblong pyramid pull that opened and closed the doors to the T.V. Set. On either side of the T.V. Set were built in planters for plants. On th inside of the doors that opened up to get to the picture set and controls. On the right side of the set was where the volume or sound came out. It was covered by a gold mesh covering, and on top of it was her name Natalie Kalmus, written in gold script. It was a big television set and truly a magnificent piece
      of furniture.
Natalie Kalmus' pictures had the best color in them.
Could you please see if you can kindly find out anything about her for me?! I would be most grateful to you.
      Sincerely,
      Chirelle Alana

@@chirellealanalooney7895 I had been in that business, yes. I am a contributor to IMDB, where I add to and extract information. I wish I could tell you something positive about Natalie Kalmus. Failing this, I refrain from writing anything more negative than that she was universally considered a nuisance. She married Herbert Kalmus, a scientist and engineer and major contributor to the development of color motion picture film. He was a co-founder and president of the Technicolor Motion Picture Corporation. The Natalie Kalmus line of exotic TV’s were produced in 1952 only.

Dear Lisa Mac, thank you for your comment. "Dip-dunk," a Navy term; I picked it up 55 years ago on the USS Constellation, CVA 64. It means, stupid, hackneyed, wrong-headed, lazy or aggravating or all of the above. I hope you find this edifying.

Both Warner Baxter and Ray Collins were 54 when this film was released. Margaret Lindsay was 33. I guess Warner could get the "babes" - at least in the movies anyway!
