      Nothing feels like been rich enough to buy one I think you mean...lol.......I've played a freinds 50s strat and it's no better than his 80s tokai copy that he actually uses..or my ibanez 80s roadstar
      Japanese copy...when played side by side.....he keeps it because it belonged to his dad and of course because of its value...he's always bemused how everyone is impressed that he owns one and thinks that he's rich spoilt man....lol...my opinion is that it's the kudos of ownership that the main attraction...and no one would ever admit that its no better than a modern version as that would be like admitting you are happy to be ripped off...the same thing with "designer" clothing...£100 for a shirt no better than a £20 one...that said he did at one point think of installing a humbucker in the bridge a few years ago and I'm like don't mate...just buy a super strat lol

      @@paulcartwright2810 well I am definitely not rich and far from it, so you are totally wrong there. And to be honest I always thought that fender is producing the best they have ever made right now.... until I played this L series. Like it or not it has a reputation for a reason, maybe not for everyone but my choice and opinion is it is different for what ever reason.

    A friends dad took us over to one of his war buddies house one time. Dude had a total man cave garage with a juke box and pool table and a full bar. I was around 13 maybe had just turned 14 but among all the toys in this guys garage was a red hard tail original sixties strat. I dont remember what year he said but i waaaant to say 62 or 63. He bought it new the year it came out. It was such an odd orangish red and now i know it was possibly aged nitro making it look like that.... but he was oddly laid back about letting me play it. Plugged into some insane tube monster fender from the same era that i had no clue how to get dist out of. Well come to find out just dime it out but that would not be an option. But even then i remember being in reverence and dude just being like "ah go ahead i never play it any more." So weird. He did make me learn sleep walk... the old guitar piece from the fifties i believe...

    Congrats on your new vintage Strat. So beautiful. I missed out on a few pre-CBS Jazzmasters when they were reasonably priced and am kicking myself for not buying them. I have a AVRI 62 Jazzmaster which is very good but wish I bought the vintage ones.
    I also love Mosrite and have two vintage USA models and one Japanese model and had two Japanese models before that.
    Try a Mosrite if you haven't yet. Vintage ones are magical and Japanese ones are very good. I think in the UK they are not easy to find. I see in the video or the other video there was a Mosrite. Did you try it out?

    Congratulations! I bought my first pre CBS Strat in 1990. A '64 in Surf Green with Gold Hardware. I still have it. I went pro in 1991 and used it on 95% of all recordings and live Gigs. I bought my second pre CBS Strat in 2007. A '63 in Sunburst. Nothing beats the Original. Yours has the original Finish. But what about the Electronics and the Plastic? Maybe it's the lighting in the Video, but the Pickguard doesn't look like a Celluloid "Green Guard" to me. Is it refretted? And please be more careful with that Trem Arm. They will break. Use a new one and keep the Original in the Case. And you will have to learn to deal with all the envious persons that keep talking Shit about Vintage Guitars without ever having played one.😆✌

      Thanks so much for the nice comment. That’s awesome about the 64’ in surf green!! & 63’!! That’s correct about the electronics and plastic. It has that lovely mint green ageing! I didn’t know that about the whammy bar so thanks for the heads up 😬

      @@PedalPawn my pleasure.😊 I payed 1380€ for the '64 in 1990. Inflation not taken into account.😆 I don't have to tell you what's it worth today. I broke the original Whammy Bar. I break 2, or 3 every year. If it happens, don't drill it out! It will ruin the Sustain Block. I tap the Block with a small Hammer in the right Spot and it slowly comes out.

    Ironically Hendrix wasn't particularly 'gear oriented' and typically played the contemporary, late '60s, big headstock CBS Strats that are now considered to be such crap. He never said, no I need a '63, they were so much better!

    Any luthier will tell you the same thing: shattered wood, aged arm, very old year, and they mystify the context to exaggerate the price. They put it in a room that sells and people buy without thinking. And the context psychologically, makes you "hear" that it sounds different. In the words of victor wooten: The instrument will never make music, you make it.

    I have never understood the vintage guitar thing. Is a Strat from 63 a cool guitar? Absolutely. But tonewood is not a thing on solid bodies, and the pickups are, by modern standards, above average but nothing more. Apart from the age of the instrument, I really think It's all just hype.

    • @ElmarSprong
      @ElmarSprong 2 ปีที่แล้ว +35

      Good thing playing is not all about the sound, it's also about how the instrument feels
      And most importantly, how it makes YOU feel when playing it

      Hi Roy,
      It is all a bit bizarre isn’t it. I’ve played a lot of vintage guitars that don’t really make sense, though quite honestly this one just feels right 🎸

    • @roytofilovski9530
      @roytofilovski9530 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@ElmarSprong But the feel has nothing to do with the age of the guitar but rather with how it was constructed. For that money you can get a luthier to make you the exact same guitar, same specs exactly, but with better pups and tuners.

      @@roytofilovski9530 It's not always the specs that make a guitar,
