This video is amazing! I went from having barely worked on any of my cars to replacing my clutch after it gave out a couple weeks ago thanks to this video, love how in depth it is. Keep up the awesome work man! Cheers
Just finished this job and must say this video is a perfect exact tutorial. Took me 40-50 hours. got it back together in 1 day but taking apart I had to deal with alot of stuck bolts and rust and shit. 80% of time was taking apart much easier to put back together. I recommend you label every single little thing you take off and put in a bag. write what it is on bag and write what time code it was in video.
One of the best videos I have ever seen. Loved that you talked about what you doing in detail before doing. We were able to get inside your head and see what you were thinking at every step. I rate it 6 out of 5 stars 🥳
Im halfway through this job on a 2006 Accent and so far the worse part has been trying to get the last bolt on both front and rear motor mounts. I finally got the transmission separated yesterday and will start removing the clutch and flywheel shortly. Already replaced slave and master cylinders with no improvement. Thanks for the video, I followed step by step and it helped me tremendously.
Thank you for a well done, and detailed video. Dont forget to grease the fork pivot. If there is a thrust bushing, good time to replace it also, and inspect the flywheel teeth. If you do remove flywheel for resurfacing, you might want to replace crank seal.
I've done it with the engine and transmission out of the car and put it in in one shot Lots more room to work Ended up doing the timing belt and waterpump too while I was at it Nice car but tight to work on at times I miss that car I had.... Very reliable and tough with the 5 speed I pulled a small trailer with it at times too
Boss job young man!! Awesome video. Super glad I have this to reference as I've been telling my fiance that her Accents clutch will not take much more of her high rev take offs. I applaud your knowledge and confidence, am now a subscriber. Thank you.
Tell your fiance she can slowly start letting out the clutch till she feels it start grabbing then give it gas. I have an 07 and it's the easiest stick shift I've ever drove.
I'm about to tackle this job I had same experience my clutch went out then car wouldn't start and had to be towed. Is there anything I should purchase as far as parts other than clutch kit, flywheel, and slave cylinder?
If you disconnect the transmission from the bell housing, there might be enough space to pull trans out the wheel well. Then you would have space to drop the bell housing, and even more space to deal with clutch.
From my experience with Hyundai as a sales rep, most of the FWD models like this are made so the front fascia and radiator frame can be moved out of the way so you can pull the entire engine in less than hour with the right equipment. Either way, it's not an easy job.
Thanks for posting this. I was disappointed that you didn't drop the subframe, as I have heard repeatedly that it's worth doing and I was curious to see how much comes off with it.
@@SprocketHeadI eventually decided to remove the subframe, and found it incredibly easy to do. The amount of space you have I incredible, and I actually highly recommend it. @@SprocketHead input shaft bearing inside the trans should of been replaced while doing clutch and release bearing. To dissasemble trans you need it out of the car. To get it out of the car you gotta drop the subframe. Unless pulling motor & trans as one.
Great VIdeo. So far everything is good but I can't seem to get my trans less than 1/2" from connecting to motor. Any advice would be appreciated. Your video is the best.
Awesome video. Do you know which linkage is for the reverse lockout? Ever since I replaced my clutch I noticed it will go into reverse without pulling up on the collar. I'm assuming I put a grommet in wrong or maybe I'm missing one but not sure which linkage I need to look at
how easy is it to get the slave cylinder out if I just undo the motor mount I just want to replace it is there anything I should know to make it easier 🤔 👍🛠😁🇨🇦🖐
Luckily my slave cylinder went out just up the hill from my house so I just put it in neutral and rolled down the hill. But it sure is a bit frightening not having any use of one of your pedals out of nowhere.
@@ColtenHood on the car or cylinder, new cylinders got about 12k on it, but I had recently bought the car so I got no idea how many miles it’s got on its life
I have a 2015 Accent, and I have to push the clutch pedal all the way to the floor, is there an adjustment so the clutch disengages closer to the top of the pedal
Great video. I have the same car and my issue with the clutch is it loses pressure and becomes flappy if I drive it around the city especially in heavy traffic. It seems like the constant gear changes causes this. Different case when I'm on the open road I can drive forever with no issues. The problem has gotten worse, to a point were the transmission was not taking any of my gear changes and had to tow it home. Parked the car off for 2 days then decided to drive it again and everything was normal with all gears working. Can anyone advise what could be causing this and the possible solution? Thank you in advance
Sounds to me like air in your system. Bleed everything an then try it. If that doesn’t fix it, then I’d move on to your slave cylinder. Last option would be clutch replacement.
I just replaced the whole fly wheel, clutch disk, bearing, and pressure plate last month. It worked but a sometimes need to hit the clutch paddle hard to switch transmission. The problem now is there’s almost no pressure when I hit the clutch paddle to switch transmission. Do you know what seems to be the probelm? Note: same model as in your video.

I've got 185k miles on my Accent and the clutch finally went out. Actually the throw out bearing and fork stick causing a hard pedal and no clutch engagement when it gets hot.

There’s very little symptoms to your slave cylinder going out.
Usually a lack of pressure when pushing the clutch in and it being unable to shift.
