Bought a sample two weeks ago and planning on a bottle. I love it. Just the slighting of blue beneath the black.

It's a really cool black ink.

Even though they're extremely dry I love this (very underrated) brand, Hisoku is almost my favorite blue and Yamabukiiro is probably the closest thing to Iroshizuku Ina-ho. Cool to finally see somebody review this brand 👍

Glad to hear you like their inks. I loved the colors I sampled and I look forward to putting more through my full ink test.

Agree with you and others on the dryness of these inks, but oh, I love them. I almost always end up adding a drop or two of White Lightning to the full bottle, which helps a great deal.

I will probably experiment with an ink additive as I explore more of the range. I am glad I got a bottle as a gift otherwise I would have avoided them based on the reviews I read.

Thank you for this interesting video. Nureba-iro is one of my favourite very dark blue/almost black inks, (along with Sailor Kanocho-iro, Kobe ink #51). I believe the characters 濡羽色 (nureba-iro, mean "colour of wet feathers", so that Nureba-iro is used to describe a woman's lustrous black hair. It is a stunning and subtle colour, with the blue elements gradually emerging on the page.
Kyo-no-oto inks are wonderful: my favourite is Bengara-iro, a deep reddish brown colour whose name evokes Bengal, hence Bengara iro 紅柄色. Unfortunately, that ink is extremely hard to find and may have been discontinued, but I bought a large supply...!

Thank you for your comment! You are correct on the translation. My mistake. Glad to hear you are a fan of this ink and ink brand. I don't see Bengara-iro on my order form so it may be discontinued. I will ask about it the next time I place an order though.

I like Kyo-no-oto inks quite a lot. In fact, my work pen today is inked with their No. 8, moegiiru. It's a cheerful green. My pens have mostly F nibs, and they handle Kyo-no-oto quite well. I've never noticed any sheening, but sheening doesn't show up well with F and EF nibs.
Are you familiar with L'Ecritoire? On the basis of a sample of their Sucre Roux that was given to me, I've ordered four bottles, four colors. Not expensive on their own, but shipping from France more than doubled the price. I felt like I was in an Iroshizuku/Pelikan/Akkerman rut. Not a bad rut to be in - they're all excellent - but I wanted something new. The Nurebairo may give me that in black. In 30 years, I've yet to stray from Parker black. It makes me feel safe when I'm inking a vintage pen.

Thanks for the comment James! Glad to hear you are a fan of Kyo-no-oto inks. I am not familiar with L'Ecritoire but they have some really cool stuff. I will definitely try their inks. Thank you for letting me know about them.
I hear you about the ink ruts. It happens to me too. For vintage pens Parker ink is a great choice. I also like to use Waterman and Skrip blue inks for vintage pens.

can you make any guess about how it would behave in a Custom 74 with a medium nib? it should be ok, I guess? I really like how this looks on the paper...

I think it would work well is a Custom 74 with a medium nib. Those pens tend to have a nice flow. The only pens I havent been enjoying this ink with are drier pens and pens with very broad nibs.

@@BlakesBroadcast I have bought a bottle, tried it today, it flows like a dream in my Custom 74 soft medium, doesn't feel dry at all, and it looks absolutely stunning. Black but not black, very complex and somehow mysterious. I almost couldn't stop staring at the lines I had written on the page. (Definitely reminds me of ravens' feathers.) I am lucky to have this ink.

I’m a fan of this brand, I don’t have this shade, but a half dozen others. I have no pen issues to complain about, but almost all use B, or Stub nibs, flow without issue. My complaint is limited shade offerings in this era of Ferris Wheel Press and Wearingeul new introductions seemingly weekly, this brand is staid, stable, and not chasing competition. Still, I like them.

Thanks for your comment! Glad to hear you like this brand. I feel overwhelmed by how many different inks there are. Staid and stable are good qualities in a brand.

@@BlakesBroadcast…staid and stable are good, in a reliable sort of way, but they need to add some anticipation for more interest.

@@edwardrutledge2765 I agree that they are not a hype sort of brand. Ferris Wheel Press is more of a marketing company than a stationery company.

@@BlakesBroadcast …shimmering inks to an overkill gaudiness on occasion. I like shading, then sheen (modest), shimmer last.
