The lesson that I learn is never send your entire house to battle. Especially if your enemy has three dragons.
The Gardeners deserved better
I still believe Harlan Tyrell betrayed Mern. As they say; those who took the throne by sword, must die by the sword: In this case, fire.

Though, frankly, I don't think the Gardeners would've lived that long under Targaryen rule.
@@jefferyhanderson7849 I wouldn't even call it plausible. The Tyrells served the Gardeners gallantly. It wasn't until after the extinction of the Gardeners and no choice was left but to surrender the castle.
@@BelleroseQC Well, that is the official version of things, yes. But the Gardeners were known for their patience and playing the long game. I just can't believe Mern IX was stupid enough to face the Targaryens, or with his entire clan without any backup plan.
Imagine if house gardener survived, the power they would hold in the reach would be more than the tyrells have currently in the books. They would be too powerful.
It's probable the tyrells convinced them to go to the field of fire and had been in cahoots with aegon From the moment he killed harren

@@@Rawrist Looking at the map at 1:13, I think I just realized that Dorne is part of Essos in terms of plate tectonics. It's disguised from us because the arm of Drone is broken, but it makes sense, since the mountains created by plate movement are between Dorne an the Reach / Stormlands. Do you think there's a chance that Dorne's climate is so different because there's some kind of magically geological difference between the continents? I.E. Westeros, except for Dorne, is much more lush than than Essos, which has massive tracts (hehe) of grassland, wasteland, and deserts. Um, since I'm more of a lurker than a poster, if you want to take this idea and run with it somewhere (anywhere), be my guest. Thanks for all the work that you put into your channel. :)
Yeah,but also when the Tyrels came.with Andals and became their stewards,they did battle the Gardners enemies for them. So they weren't just cleaning the castle.

Thank god for your videos, where would my life be without you? Could you possibly do a House Celtigar? They are the only Valyrian House that’s gets no love like the Targaryens or Velaryons.
John Shorter Ikr? What makes it even worse was they were even excluded from Targaryen marriages & never even had dragons like the Velaryons managed to get. They also didn’t really comment if House Celtigar actually had the traditional looks of a Valyrian but I would assume they do. I doubt their poor since it’s rumored that that have bountiful treasures & even a Valyrian great axe.
The 2 houses that killed house garderner, the tyrells and the targaryens are now the only great houses that are extinct

@@aladore1380 actually, they did. the tyrells whispered into the ears of the king of the reach telling them what will be their image to the other six kings if they submit to the targaryens, thus igniting their rebellion against ageon and his sisters. so yeah, indirectly, they killed the gardeners.
The Tyrell’s can’t go extinct. Their house is too big. Show canon doesn’t count. Books are the only canon.
They were avenged, unknowingly.
That nearly all the contemporary Houses of the Reach claim descent House Gardener is best reflected by everyone from the Reach is related to everyone else from the Reach.

@@johntshorter something like house florent or another house taking up the name since alot of houses in the reach have stronger ties to the gardeners, I only thought of this since I read that the florents had the strongest claim to high garden after the field of fire bc their lord married a sister of kin mern I think and they argued and continue to argue that they had a stronger claim to highgarden

I'm a bit surprised you didn't mention the Tarleys... Weren't they the house of the most impressive soldiers? You had the Andal Tyrells... providing defense for the Gardners... but the Tarley's were of the first men, right? Why did you leave them out?

I can't explain why but this was the best video I've watched in the last 6 months.
So if the First Men didn't have iron until the Andals came along, does that mean that there are no iron swords on the laps of the early Starks in the crypts of Winterfell?

It's their order of knights that would serve house gardener but it got wiped in the field of fire like house gardener
