His first contact with the ball was within the boundary and before he ever crossed the boundary on that ball. He was then never grounded while in contact with the ball once beyond the boundary.
Had he stepped beyond the boundary before making the first contact with the ball, or been in contact with ground and ball while beyond the boundary at any time, it would have been a 6.

Wondering how a fielder tying up a batsman's shoe for them is a one in the Million, everyone would do it and many have in junior cricket, is it usual at international level yeah, but if it come lose during play their isn't a single player in close, except the wicket keeper, and that is because of they have the same difficulty getting to their shoe laces, except their gloves are easier to to get off, would happily do it. If you were expecting someone to come in from deep third man or long on that might be different but they would, there are just so many players that are closer than they are.
