Can not imagine how totally PUMPED he had to be after that once in a lifetime ride. Radical, man!!!! I was born and raised on the West Coast and I've never seen anything like that in my 74 years. Excellent post!!!
This day (and still today) may be a turning point for Uluwatu. It was a dream day for tow-in teams and yet only one team out. No jet skis teams in the afternoon where 6 to 7 wave-sets of 15 to 20 feet walls would perfectly peel off from The Bombie all the way down through Corners. Repeat every less than 10 minutes. All unridden as the 2 or 3 paddle guys out had no chance. A day and a swell when you actually want to see jet ski teams. Good job Eloy and partner!
Very true....I was one of the paddle guys in the mid-afternoon as the current was like a river making it almost impossible to get into position. I finally went with the current and surfed Padang Padang for the evening session :)
Big Ulu's doesn't always line up and peel perfectly like that. We had a few big swells in the past years and it was nothing like this one. But we have the feeling Ulu's will now be in the tow-in surfers radar,. because we have never seen waves this big, this rip-able anywhere. A spectacle to be hold of. A show to witness.
In 2018, Koa Smith rode a wave in Namibia for nearly 3 mins & he had multiple barrels, it's here on YT. It was a much tamer wave but lasted considerably longer.
We've all heard the old saying about the end of life and --- "Riding off into the sunset." Man-o-man, getting a ride like that just before you kick the bucket would be cool.
Depending on swell direction, Ive even seen a 4th break. But if you catch it at the right time when the swell comes from that perfection direction and the tide is right, it all lines up to one wave.
Man....I don’t know about that! I was looking at that as well. The 2nd wave looks narly as hell. Larger I believe and a lot more chop and white water. The wave he caught......much smoother!
I think even longer. The wave we were at in Peru goes 1.3 miles and looked about like that at the very best of times, but not that big and not that perfect. The Peru spot is Pacasmayo.
That has got to be the most perfect beach for surfing of all time and that guy must have went a mile !! 🤣🤣 wow ! It almost seems like a video game that was so sick !
@Eric Outram sorry for the late reply. But we don't always have the time or means to chase the storm swells bro. We usually have to take what our current location serves us. Unless your friggin Kelly Slater !
Legend has it he’s still paddling his way back to the lineup....
lol- hope he's got a LOT of volume 😝
At least he’s paddling.
Legend has it he's still riding..!
Ski bro... hes got a ski followin the wave to pick him up

@@jimmysnell1167 It is completely true, that's why I said it
To be fair though this is like the perfect wave and doesn’t look too hard to balance on
Legend has it he rode it right to the airport, packed his board and left.
He is...'the most interesting man in the world'...
The jet skier behind him was trippin. Where the hell did he go, is he still riding that thing?
Luckily the jet sky didn't run out of gas chasing Eloy down.
Watching the drone flight?

@fix8Systems Maybe? We'll try to find out. Good one to know. But in Bali (we are sure) you can get away with it...
It doesn't get better than this! The wave of a lifetime :-)))))
Rumour has it he made it all the way to Australia.

Great drone footage - like a min movie - Epic!!!
Probably already mentioned but, "did y'all see the panic on the face of the water ski dude chasing the wave looking for his mate"? Priceless! 😲😱😯😰
Respect to the drone pilot as well. Silky smooth follow! 👌

Yes . More this Wave is more bigger and strong. The Bigger wave more longer.
I guess when Uluwatu is that big you don't need to worry about getting faded. Seriously though, what an incredible wave.

My guess is the drone pilot is awesome!
It was strapped to a seagull and its wings got tired.
He's probabably over a kilometer from where he started.

I wonder how far down the beach that wave took him ?
I don't really have a frame of reference but it seems like a pretty long ways to me. Lol
I'm more shocked it wasn't crowded with people dropping in.
That drone has a mean wake.
How far did he travel?
Coach Fuzz - there should be a gps record with the drone... it was no short distance considering tho...
Assuming 1.3 minutes @ 20 mph = 2,288 feet or 0.43 statute miles.
Secret Squirrel thanks
My legs are still burning!
You rock! Beautiful!
Onde fica essa praia?que pais?
unbelievable.... what does he meet at 0:54 ??
That should be classified as a form of travel, easy mile there
How fast do you think he is going?
30-35?

What size was this swell?
