I'd love to see an underwater layer with a few different biome types using the new vertical biome system. You could do a lot with Sculk designs and aquatic animals. I was thinking there could be some sort of leviathan-esque thing that would spawn and inflict forced Blindness upon doing so. It'd just exist to kill you if you go too far into the waters. Think Subnautica's Ghost Leviathans in terms of gameplay purpose.

I think that there should also be a ruined ancient city in The Otherside that your portal connects to, giving the impression that you cannot just build the portal, but have to find it.

Honestly, there's quite a few mods that deliver even higher quality than Vanilla. And yes, I'd count Deeper & Darker towards them (some other examples being Aether, Erebus and the mods by Team Galena). It's not too surprising either - unlike Mojang, they're not hindered by Microsoft breathing down their neck with deadlines, nor do they (usually) work directly on Minecraft's jankfest of a codebase but rather on a clean API layer in between (Forge is a massive help despite its flaws, and then Fabric is just designed with smooth coding in mind).

This video alone, along with the corruption music from terraria has given some amazing ideas. I love the influence of terraria used in this, and I wonder if I ever get into making mods of my own if I could change the way worlds generate entirely- instead of it being infinite outwards, going along the x and z coordinates there is an infinite amount of space downward, it becoming a lot more difficult the deeper you go becoming more of a dungeon crawler, the game becoming centered around exploring the depths and spelunking and collecting odd collectables, more like terraria in a way
I imagine this could be achievable with the gravity mod - you could literally just change the direction of gravity so that gravity points along the Z axis or something when in your custom dimension. Then, from the player's perspective, the world would go down infinitely! There would be bedrock along at least one of the sides however, and a maximum build distance (height) on that same axis.
Agree, and I feel like it has 3 big reasons: Lack of deadlines (personally I feel like being able to work at my own pace actually boosts my productivity sometimes, wouldn't be surprised if it turned out I'm not alone with that), lack of design constraints (for example, this very mod shows zero hesitation about giving an incentive for killing the Warden), and the mod loaders that (while the attitude of some of their dev teams' members may be questionable at best, you probably know who I'm talking about) do a great job at abstracting from the mojanktastrophe of a codebase and presenting people with a clean API layer instead.
I was just about to say, the new Dimension just looks like the Nether but with Skulk, and a handful of new monsters. Giving the Warden necessary loot to progress through the mod also kind of defeats the purpose of the it being an unbeatable foe you're supposed to avoid than fight (as much as I'm not a fan of that concept to begin with; I feel like Mojang took the Deep Dark in the wrong direction with the introduction of the Warden in the first place).
mojang should just get the ppl who made this and support them as well as add this to the vanilla game lol its so good ( that would add to the lore of warden as well as he slipped through the portal or smthg lol )

The one thing I have with this mod is the upgrading armour again I feel they should have kept it at the helmet and done something else clever with the shards really epic mod with cool mobs and books over all tho
Neat, but I don't think the Otherside dimension should have any kind of light sources. The warden being blind and relying on sound to track its targets means that it comes from a world where vision is useless, so its homeworld should be completely dark.
I wish Mojang would have done something like this. There is pretty much no reason to go to the vanilla deep dark at all (unless you want skulk sensors I guess). It feels pretty lackluster honestly
Oh, I wish the armor has a cool downside, like u have to make sound to see the surrounding and when there's no sound, u will be blind. I was expecting some sort of new OP weapon with a really annoying drop chance, or pretty complex crafting recipe, like some sort of item that allow the player to do the sonic boom attack.
Its very good... but I feel like it fails to capitalize on the deep darks horror and terror themes. This dimension lacks the overwhelming sense of dread and wrongness that the overworld deep dark and ancient cities radiate, it just feels more like a dangerous dimension similar to the nether.
great mod idea, my only complaint is that the otherside looks waaayyyyy too similar to the nether. And this isn't a complaint but I do wish you had expanded on what made the deep dark so appealing, it's fear factor.
Mojang, a multi-billion dollar company: 1 major update a year, not much depth. Unpaid modders: Crazily detailed mega mods with hundreds of new features and updates daily.
The moment I saw the thumbnail and title, well... needless to say, I was hooked. If I ever decide to concoct a modpack, I'll be sure to add this mod to its repertoire! Thanks for showing me such an interesting way to expand on the Deep Dark Biome, SirColor!

Mmh, Skulk Centipede. I hate that. Otherwise Looks very well done. Mojang/Microsoft have liked some Minecraft Mods in the past such as Tropic craft and added it to their game on some level. It would be sick if they added this on some level to their game officially.
The video creator didn't showcase it, but the elytra actually *does* produce it's own boost without needing fireworks (at the cost of losing durability each boost)
I dont lie the fact that you need to farm the warden, it defeats the purpose mojang intended of needing to avoid it. IMO a better thing would be for it to be only found as loot on the vases.
cant help but think that the dimension could have had a different look other then darker nether, mabey it could have been made up of many tall world hight pillars like trees on a ground or floor like you were on a giant hair brush. that the deeper you climb down to the floor the more of the sculk you would see. idk im just spit balling.
