Nice video. Impressive suspension bridge at 4:45. All of that bushwhacking must have scratched you both a lot.
When you next are thinking of a DIY project, consider a pair of ponchos. If you make them like my old Army ponchos, they are very versatile. Two can be snapped together to make a tarp or pup tent. They were strong enough to be used as hammocks. If you got stuck on a day hike, they would give you shelter for the night. If you carry a couple of candles they can form hot ponchos to warm you up if you get cold.
There are idiots everywhere. Usually they become bosses and drive the employees away. You just happened to find one at a hut. The biggest benefit to being retired is that I rarely have to deal with type of person anymore. A nice hike. Good Luck, Rick

I thought it was going to be a shirt boring video but I also loved the windfall footage. The struggle is real! Thanks for watching

Such beautiful scenery, sorry you had the rude roommate, but looks like you still enjoyed your hike. Always enjoy watching your adventures, take care and happy hiking.

Sometimes people like him happen. I just wasn't very happy about it 😕 Glad you enjoyed the video!

Blowdowns excused, seems like a great track. Wonderful rivers, (do they kayak them?) and cool rock formations at 9:20. Always some sort of pests around! 😣 Thanks for the vids. Happy tramping!

It was a good trip really. The blow downs left me a little scraped up but it was worth it. We thought it seemed like it would be a good pack rafting trip and when we got home I had a look - it's a grade II/III trip.

Looks like a nice hike.. . Nice scenery, pretty blue/green river. Why were there so many blow downs? Recent storms? Lack of trail maintenance?

Thanks for watching. Trail issues were a bit of both. Its winter, and we've had a lot of storms recently. But also flooding and a lot of erosion in local areas so that also requires work. I would expect it to be moslty cleared before the summer arrives.

I figured it was something like that. It really does take a lot of work to maintain trails. How has Raiden been enjoying New Zealand? Has it been a big adjustment? Is he able to work?

Raiden is enjoying being in New Zealand, warmest winter he's ever had! He has a work visa so no issues there.
