Good afternoon Run4adventure and all the runners. Interesting video about the Norda. Here is my like. I don't knew this brand. A nice Monday for everyone. ☀️🏃♂️⛰
Definitely quite a designer trail shoe, yet in the same breath capable. Dyneema is an interesting material on a shoe. My climbing slings are made of dyneema. On the flip side you could build a 2 shoe rotation for the price of these.
Just raced my first 200-miler, the Cowboy 200, and seriously considered the Norda 001, which I had used earlier this year in a challenging 50-mile ultra in Colorado. It is nearly perfect: vastly more comfortable under foot for me, and in the toe box, than the Hoka Speedgoat line. The upper is also ideal. My complaint - and it’s a big one - is not even the price, but rather the heel counter. It slopes upward tightly along the Achilles and, sadly, inflames it. I’ve tried sizing up and it doesn’t fix the problem. So I only use for shorter distances even though earnestly hoping that Norda will address this design issue in future versions. I ended up using the NNormal Tomir, which feels not as comfortable but is the same kind of all-around flexibility and fits better than than the Norda.
Well done on your first 200 miler, awesome work 🏃♂️💪 I thought the norda 001 was the best trail running shoe you had ever run in? I totally agree on the heel design, it needs a complete rethink and some more structure. I was really impressed with the midsole once it had bedded in, very comfortable but still pretty responsive underfoot 😊 Well done again and I hope the body recovers well 🙏
@@Run4Adventure many thanks for the inspiration, Loyd! Different shoes have strengths and weaknesses. The heartbreaker for me with the OO1 is that I sincerely thought it was nearly perfect, yet only at longer distances did it become not just less comfortable, but unrunnable. That has never happened to me before; my Achilles is just fine in the other brands. Happy roads and trails! Hope to see you at UTMB. I qualified in ‘20 but didn’t get to compete due to Covid and will need to start over again ;-)
I’m about 30 miles deep in my pair. If they last me 2-3 times longer than a standard pair at 140 price range, they are worth it money wise. Break in period is long, but that midsole is soooo nice.
That’s a heavily reduced price if you picked them up for £140! They are definitely worth it for that price, not sure they’re worth it at full price though? 🤔
I’ve run ~150 in these and they are good but they have some inexcusable faults for the price: lace pressure is horrendous (can’t tighten them for technical/fast descents) mega grip on the outsole is the same as every other trail shoe and they’re wearing out at the same rate as other shoes. Which means they’re not any more durable than other shoes. Do yourself a favor and buy two pairs of speedgoats, and thank me later. I agree with the review but he’s being generous unfortunately. I really wanted to love these shoes but they’ve disappointed.
I totally agree Kevin and I actually highlighted that exact point in the review using the very same words! The outsole is going to wear down at the same rate as any other trail running shoe, so it doesn't really matter how durable the upper is. I personally haven't had any issues with the laces digging into the top of my foot and I have had this problem in other shoes before. I don't think I was being overly generous scoring them only 18 out of 30? Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏😊
Super interested in the concept of the Norda 001, but that price point is enough to make you weep. As noted below the standard 001 at £220 is no different than this collab and if you sign up to an account with some of the recommended Norda UK sellers you will likely get an initial discount coupon that will drop the price sub £200. On this basis I would pick up a pair and see how it goes. Aside from my MTN Racers or Inov8 TU270, all my trail shoes uppers blow up before the outsole has given up. If an upper can last and last I am more than happy to replace an outsole with Vibram megagrip from time to time.
Yeap the standard version is £220, still pretty expensive for a trail shoe though Karl? The upper fabric does look and feel very strong but I'm having overlay peel already, so that's not great when it comes to durability. Also replacing an Vibram Megagrip outsole is pretty expensive so I'm sure it's worth it in the long run 🤔 Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏
I'm glad you're enjoying your Norda 001's Matthew. It's a very comfortable shoe and I'm impressed with the performance of the midsole. Even if you do get 700 miles out of the shoe's, it's still a lot of money to pay. I could buy two pairs of Xodus Ultras for the same money and probably get around 1200 miles out of the two 🤔 Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏
would have been nice if it was at hoka's price range... as it is now, they fall in the functional athleisure level. a lifestyle runner that can certainly do it's job.
I love Satisfy but I wouldn’t pay the extra just for the little extra details on this collab. Grab the Ciele collab, got to see it in person over the weekend at the nyc marathon event. I like it more than the satisfy collab.
The Ciele collaboration looks great Scotty but it's no different to the Satisfy shoe. Same 001 shoes, just with a few Ciele details and more expensive 🤔
@@Run4Adventure here in the states the Ciele collab is only $10 usd more than the regular 001’s and much nicer than the satisfy collab which is $50 usd more.
Yeah I'm interested but keeping the wallet closed until some more reviews surface, particularly in regard to rock strikes with them having no rock plates. If they get the green light from reviews I'm happy to give them a go at the price... hard to compete price wise with the global giants but I'm happy to support a high performance sustainably thinking brand, especially if they are as versatile and durable as Killian claims... Literally just ordered some Peregrine 12s as my 10s are wearing a little thin in places after 700kms though will probably still get to 1000kms! (NB sized down 1/2 size in the 12's due to new fit, yet to see how they go in anger)
Thanks Loyd, your channel is fantastic ❤ I tried the 001s but twisted my ankle 3x including a pretty bad sprain on the first run in the mountains 😤 The problems seemed to be a combination of 1) lack of ankle structure / support, which was compounded 2) lack of breathability / drainage. On 2, my feet were soaked (I'm a heavy sweater so that's somewhat normal), but combined with the lack of ankle support, my ankle buckled several times with the sloppy shoe conditions. In short, I'll have to re-assess how I use this shoe, or whether I re-sell it. Also quite frustrating that Norda's customer service was apathetic about the issue when I reached out 🤷♂ In any case, your review of the 002s gives me hope that this could be a legit shoe brand and not just a designer shoe play. The shoe is beautiful so I still want to love it despite the negative experience so far. During my 1 run, I had 3 people comment on the shoe and that's never happened before.
Vibram megagrip is a bit softer than some rubber compounds and that's why is so good on rock and wet rock. Ive never really had any issues with durability and I definitely enjoy the grip it gives me. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏😊
I'm just testing a belt from Ultimate Direction and then we'll be putting the video together Diederik 👍 Thanks for watching and supporting the channel its really appreciated 🙏😊
I'm not sure Martin? The world of running shoes has gone a little bit crazy at the moment!! 😱 Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏
No shoe is worth the money in my opinion, especially as most people can't afford it...maybe if you buy 1 shoe and it lasts 1000 miles you could at least think about it, but as most people who take running "serious"/run all year through need at least 3-4 (road, mud, long, technical), 1 shoe will always be a compromise...
I totally agree, the running shoe world has gone a bit crazy at the moment! You could 2 or 3 really good running shoes for the same price, I know what I'd choose 👍 Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏

Totally agree Ian 🤣 The world of running shoes has gone a bit crazy, who'd of thought we'd be talking about a trail running shoe costing £280! 🤯 Thanks for watching mate, it's really appreciated 🙏😊
Sorry, NO running shoes are worth that price IMO, for both road or trail shoes. As good as a shoe get, there are surely similar (or even better) options out there with better price value. Unless you buy shoes for the prestige and not by function, no shoes are worth that price. Even alphaflys or other modern racing shoes... I'm struggling to see why I should buy them. They make you fast, yes. But I won't be fully satisfied knowing that the 2-3 minutes PR that I set is due to the shoes I wear (buy) anyway. Unless I am a professional athlete and compete in races for a living, then that's a different story. I run for fun, and there are many good running shoes out there for that. Heck, right now I'm transitioning to running sandals with minimalist approach, thin 0-drop soles. Cheap too :)). And I can confess, from 11 years of running with I don't know how many models of running shoes I've bought, these sandals are one of the few that gets me excited during each runs. During that 11 years, I have never... ever... re-purchased a running shoe. These sandals would be the first that I repurchase.
I totally agree 👍 The running shoe world has gone a bit crazy over the last few years! I run with a guy who's been using sandals for years and that's all he runs in. His sandals cost a lot of money though, over £100 I think, that's a lot for sandals 🤔 Hope your transition goes well and thanks for watching 🙏
@@Run4Adventure Aaah, yes, probably one of those Luna Sandals, with vibram outsole and everything. The Luna Sandals (and its competitors) are actually what made me interested in running sandals, but I never bought them because (like you said) they're too pricey. Luckily, in my country, some guys established a local brand of running sandals, taking inspiration from Luna, and come up with their base model for around 20£. It doesn't have a proper outsole like Luna, but from my 150km of testing they're ok on dry roads. So far the longest runs I did with these sandals are around 13km. I'm taking it progressively and with caution due to its almost barefoot concept. So far the 1 or 2 sessions with them are the ones I most look forward to in my weekly training schedule. I'd suggest you try one of those sandals some times. Slot in 1 or 2 short runs per week wearing them. The sensation is very different with any shoe you've tried before. It's fun and very engaging.
@@aristodiga82 Sorry sandals are definitely not for me thanks. I totally get the idea of sandals but for the running I do and on the terrain I do it, they're are not for me. I'm glad you've found something that works for you and its got you excited about running 😊
I'm not sure they're over priced Mark, just very expensive! The norda brand will be working off a margin like any other business in the world. Obviously their shoes are expensive to produce so they cost a lot when it comes to buying them. I think it's good to show a broad spectrum of running shoes on the channel. From the higher priced shoes to the more affordable options 👍 Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏
