Charles Fleischer insists: All things are Moleeds

- www.ted.com In a presentation that can only be described as epic, comedian Charles Fleischer delivers a hysterical send-up of a time-honored TED theme: the map. Geometry, numbers, charts and stamp art also factor in (somehow), as he weaves together a unique theory of everything called "Moleeds."
With all due respect to the late Robin Williams, on his best day he was never this creative. Charles was an in studio guest on my radio show whenever he played the Treehouse Comedy Club in Conn. This is only a partial example of his brilliance. Probably too smart for the house......
His presentation reminds me of the great Robin Williams..
He reminds me of Jerry Lewis
Comedic GENIUS!
Details: Consider
m(g,s,i):=(2^( (72 i + 36 s + 6 g)/6)) modulo 37, where
g=1,2,3,4,5,6, s=1,2, i=1,2,3.
Each g generates one of the red, etc 'systems'.
So what 'symmetries' are there ?
For each g and s,
m(g,s,1)+m(g,s,2)+m(g,s,3) is 37 or 74
(depending on s) and
for each g and i there is a j, such that
m(g,1,i)+m(g,2,j) = 37.
And as g,s,i run through the above values, m(g,s,i) runs through all of 1 to 37 (in scrambled order). Neat !
That's all I could find out about moleeds.
that was hilarious I love it when a comedian actually studies up to create an act that fits his audience.
Once I realized this was a straight-up comedy routine, I was like "Ohhh, okay."
I am so, so confused right now. I think this guy is either a genius or a crackhead, probably a genius, and just tried to explain something so complex that the most basic beginnings of it just flew over my head.
Mind blown.
Did you know he did the voice of Roger Rabbit?
the euler part cracks me up every time....
''here comes euler,WOOF'' :))
This is so bizarre and silly and probably was hysterical for people who sat there all day listening to other lectures... Also, do they know this is the guy who plays "Roger Rabbit" right?
It's Roger Rabbit!
And Smar Guy, and Benny the Cab
The speaker remind me of Terence Mckenna for some reason.
@latestranger
Nah, he's a comedian. It's not a real theory, just a spoof. Still funny and awsome though!
I died laughing, this is great!
"you can't make this up" LMAO
Very fun to watch! :-)
In case any mathematicians watch this and, like me, go Huh?!? - Actually, you CAN make this stuff up: those moleed systems satisfy some symmetry properties, explained on his facebook site and, if you look a litle into it, they are based on primitive roots, in this case on 2 modulo 37. Fun little calculations, the connection to physics though is probably only "Hey, amazing symmetries there!" - which may be significant sometime, but not presently.
Gottlieb Pirsic thanks for your comment
The people below that say this guy "fails", need to take the Books out of their asses and lighten up a little bit.
I though this guy was pretty clever, and very entertaining considering what it was he was trying to explain.
Oh is it? That's probably why I never heard of moleeds before. I thought it was his own name of his theory. Well thanks for clearing that up. I was going to eventually do more research on it to understand it better. Thanks for saving me that time :)
9:05 amen brother. Amen.
He's a comedian. I saw him at the Improv in Vegas 2 years ago on my honeymoon. I like his comedy, I was laughing out loud during his show. He's quite intelligent too.
respect
He is the perfect TED talk.
@uexplorer I unfortunately also couldn't understand what he was trying to say, but your explanation seems to fit.
i havent watched the entire video as yet but at 1:12 i live on that island St. Lucia i feel proud that St. Lucia is somewhat on TED :D
Haha, Oh, no...I am not that selfish. But thank you for thinking about me. Lol.
TheGayManHimself, thinking about me. Gosh, what a treat. Lol.
To see why Fliescher is actually funny, see here on TH-cam: 'Charles Fliescher-Molleeds' . It takes place at a British comedy club with Dennis Leary introducing him. There Fliescher is hilarious as he goes into detail about Moleeds & thier relation to the '-stuff-' of existance & hows everything is 'related'. I believe he is catering to an audience of scientist, so the humour may be selective & a bit esoteric for the average joe. He's talking above heads, here; He's just speaking 'THIER' lingo.
This guy reminds me of xkcd's 687th comic.
Insane, funny and smart...
Kepler was wrong about the perfect solids having some connection to the planets :P
I remember when I saw his Moleeds(full blast) routine yrs ago as a teen, he also introduced ("There's no desputant--He is Mutant!")Ludwid Von Beetovan 'who told' a joke(can't remember it,but it was funny!) & then laughed his own 5th symphony..."HA HA HA haaaah". Combined with other stuff & the Moleeds schtick, it made me howl!
hahaha love his way of giving presentation...
11:50 starts getting nuts funny from here on out :D
what did he smoke before coming on stage?
beautiful...I'm speachless
I saw and got to meet him and I saw him do this routine and I loved it. Not as much as I loved his HBO special many yrs ago. I wish he had stayed with that style. Scar Smurf was hilarious. RIP Charles.
The entire presentation was revolved around the BIG punchline, "You can't make this up!"
When, in fact, we made up the numbers, we made up something which can't be described: 0, etc
and 2: the comedian making these up in his mind and finding it gels with other theories.
and 3: the interaction between 1 & 2.
So it's a witty logical paradox.
I'm Confused. Not because I didn't understand some of the concepts presented. Rather simply wondering just what the point of all this really was?
Can anybody clue me in?
He's just saying that everything is me.
You do not have to be intelligent to have distance to yourself and your culture and have fun of it as well as of any other people and cultures. this is called sence of humor and it doesn't mean you don't respect the subject of your jokes. But being intelligent help to understand it.
^this was a reply @planetdarwin
other than that I'm as clueless as you (if it's regarding the color system)
How come all the scientists get the joke and we don't? it's unfair, I say! =(
Funny, all right. the points of these names are that they shouldn't be specific to any dominant culture presently... The people, actually going there, will probably give those places other names.., highly likely they will sound chinese...
1:13 HUNGARY!!!
I haven't got a fucking clue what he's talking about as soon as he shows the symmetry in the graphs. What numbers is he using, and why do they have colours???
i could do with a cheese burger right now
I did with one just yesterday. 👍🏻
I bet he lifted this off some new-ager's website...
@planetdarwin
i missed it too ,???
Kepler's law is genius, it just so happened that his later endeavors with perfect solids were wrong. He implied that the way they fit into each other had something to do with the distances between planets in our solar system. Obviously there's nothing special about our system in the universe.
5 perfect solids for 6 planets, be believed God used these archetypes in the construction of the universe.
0:15
it's a secret
Hilarious, made my eyes water.
seems that way
this guy reminds me of Silvio Dante lol.
O_O could you repeat that slower ?
Entertaining!
Awesome
What just happened?
Nice, I like how the advertisement is placed at the end... It makes the ad unobtrusive and effective.
that was great!
...so, what's a moleed?
A moleed is me.
It’s everything! 🟠🟡🟢🔴🟣🔵
When Roger Rabbit speaks, you should listen.
pretty awesome!
thumbs up if that looks like moe
say again explain please...
pl-pl-pl-pl-please eddie
Go back to the Fluctus part. This is both hilarious and innane
Epic!
I enjoyed the humour at the beginning, but all the moleeds talk was totally lost on me. I know I am not brilliant, but I really did not see any relevance to the information.
The super symetry promise # i don't believe in string.. just saying.. stay in there #72
Hilarious! You just cant make this stuff up ;) I'm sorry to hear that "TLCHugger" didnt get much TLC at home and got dropped a few times. Mister Roger Rabbit aint no Dangerfield and thats just Intelligent Design!
the voice of Roger Rabbit. Nerdgasmic comedy.
its hard to follow this guy when one second he talks about string theory and the next he says Jude Law sucks
i'm a moleed
I'm not sure what I just saw...
Edward Gotham me neither. he seems sincere when talking about moleeds
diid i just laugh at something because it wasn't stupid? this feels wrong. i want my internet back!
idk about that.....
huh??
@Familiar7 you're silly
wait, wat?
The voice of Roger Rabbit!!!
?????
there's too much "E" in TED.
yeah his sense of humor kinda took away from the science of what he was talking about. He's presenting another "theory of everything", a mathematical formula that combines quantum physics and Einstein's General Relativity together. A few other scientists including Stephen Hawking are working on their own theories. Time will tell which one is correct.
Hahaha
lol.
comedy for the intelligent lol so many people her crying saying it's bad because they never graduated high school
6:05 POȘTA ROMÂNĂ :))
BOLOSNISTAA!
hahaha wtffffff XD
So Jupiter and Mars are ok but non European gods have shitty names? I don't find it funny, its rather sad really.
TED shouldn't be allowing this garbage.
Worst TED talk ever.
Oh, its meant to be funny, I must of missed the jokes.... Every single one of them.
Worst
comic
ever.
