hey matt ive started making mine with black pipe and on my 4x4 there is a moon roof. its like 2 feet long and I was wanting to put a removable hatch where the moon roof is. I don't want to do a hinge or anything like that but I wanted like a quick disconnect. any ideas??? only thing I could come up with is a hitch pin or a tab that you can turn to remove but I wanted something secure and that wouldn't rattle. cause rattles an no extra escapes out of your rig are no good for zombies!
Would you build and sell one of these? If so what would you charge. I don't have the tools nor time to do it. But you live relatively close so I could come and get it.

bleepinjeep I'm not planning on leaning it on rocks, it's mostly going to be for branches and limbs falling on the Jeep from high wind and zipping down logging trails. I should have also asked, what kind of couplers did you use to make the sections going across the hood removable? The only thing I can think of is the big couplers for gas pipe that have a nut you can turn with a wrench. Thanks again!

boy that pipe bender you got there really sucks I have the hydraulic one and it's not near that much problem you can make your pipe Bend without having to take it apart to continue on with a 90-degree Bend

bleepinjeep I ended up making mine out of 3/4 in emt conduit cause its light and cheep but im having a problem with it making a hum from the wind at speed. is this normal or is there anything I can do to fix this problem??? after I get that to stop ill paint it and post a picture of it to the facebook page, so if you know how to fix it that would help a lot!!!

is notching the tube really important? it looks like a perfectly weldable gap, with mig atleast.. for just a roof rack i think id weld er up

+Igor U its a pro-tools bender. you can get dies with different radiuses.... mostly around 5" radius or so.
