    The most important thing about container homes is planning. I've been designing container homes for years, and yes, it's a serious learning curve. But when you do it right, it can be amazing.

      For sure, people never understand that the planning is where all the money is spent and saved

    Finally a good rebuttal to that video. So funny when people make videos when they only talk to “experts” who have the same opinion and don’t get challenged.

    Fellow college dropout here also. Good video. You definitely have the best container homes anywhere I've seen. Practical, well layed out, well designed, good quality build. When I get my finances in a better place, you are who I will purchase from. You're amazing. Keep up the good work. Your hard work speaks for itself. Hope you enjoyed your Christmas.

    I didn't have to build the exterior shell of my container home. That alone is a huge time/cost/labor advantage over other construction methods. Do some people overhype container homes? Yeah. But on a realistic point-by-point comparison to other construction methods, container homes stack up quite well (no pun intended).

    Belinda Carr's original critique video was actually the reason I discovered this channel and became a big fan!

    The one thing that concerns me about insulating containers is the cold air / condensation transfer from the steel to the internal insulation - What stops that condensation build up on the inside of the steel shell ?

    • @Getouttahere78
      @Getouttahere78 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's why I insulate and clad on the outside. That prevents the serious temperature difference between day and night. The bonus is the amount of extra space you gain inside.

      @@Getouttahere78 Yeah I'd wondered about that, good method but what about plumbing and electrical chases ?

    The husband and I are toying with the idea of a container home. I will be spending the next year researching. This video was such a helpful overall look at the reality of building a container home. (And yes, our friend in the video got a wee bit too philosophical at the end there😂)

    I think modifying a clunker is overrated I’m buying the open sided containers and just removing the back wall and putting them back to back

    Container homes are not overrated.
    They could be made Earthquake and Hurricane resistant, in addition to being fireproof.
    Those are the reasons I like container homes. They could be made into perfect disaster resistant housing, while being off the grid

    What is the lifetime of a shipping container ?

  • @jtr82369
    @jtr82369 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    This reaction video could''ve been less than a minute, it's from Vox so it's already a non-starter. They have never made a good video with good information to support any of their claims. 😂😂😂

    • @jtr82369
      @jtr82369 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The last few minutes of this video really hit home and exposes these "experts" (though I do respect them as several of Belinda's videos were insightful). I have lived in a shipping container for 3 years now and it's been amazing considering the alternative of living in the tent I spent the first 6 months in or even worse, living out of my vehicle, or even worse living on the street like some have too. My container isn't nice, it isn't comfortable like a home or apt, but it saved me from being completely homeless while I rebuilt my life. The Vox reporter, Belinda, and most others that criticize container homes have never had to struggle with homelessness and poverty so they will never quite understand just how much harder it is for us than it is for them as they build their half million dollar homes and remember the "hard times" of final exams at their expensive colleges....
      I look forward to the option of living in one of your containers someday, keep up the great work.
