I'm getting my cards fixed tomorrow from a company in North London, charge about £20 for repairs per card. One card locks and unlocks the car but doesn't register in the ignition and the 2nd key won't lock/unlock but starts the car...until today after I'd finished work. Was thinking great, can't take the keys now the day before they are due to be fixed until I watched this and thought "you know what I'm going to try this" and well...im shocked. Great tip and it will enable me to get to work and then to the unit tomorrow for key card repair. Looks funny driving round with a knife hanging out the ignition. Works a treat.
I have the exact same situation as yours. Both keys, one that only started the car and the other one only opened the doors. Then the first card stopped working. Got both repaired, still the car won't start. Maybe the reader is broken. Did repairing the cards fix your problem?
So I was stuck in gym today, breakdown cover couldn't get the car out of the underground carpark, card wouldn't detect.. Tried this boom worked thank you so much
I'm still slightly in shock that this actually works. (05 Megane) it takes finding the sweet spot, mine was under the card but yeah did the job. certainly the quickest fix for card not detected! Now to stop it and see if i can repeat it! Cheers!
Brilliant, this video just made a stranded women the happiest lady alive, I had my doubts but it worked. Took a few minutes to find the sweet spot but ya, it worked.

you have literally saved my families half term holiday as we were leaving to travel over 150 miles and 2 hours to visit longleat safari park .... without your jack we would never of made it ... total genius ... one question what made you stick a knife in there in the first place ?? 😂😂

you do have to leave it in or the computer gets the hump and starts telling you off,but the engine should keep running once started if you do remove it
As an extra I now have a nice little program for the radio codes.If your batterys been disconected you will need the radio code.comment with your 4 digit security code ( this will be on the side of the radio and is a letter followed by 3 numbers and then the word security) and I will reply with your unlock code for free
nice science fiction movie; indeed the common fault is that the transponder coil terminals inside the card breaks and that's why when you insert the knife the contact re-establish and transponder works fine . Might work as an emergency, I must admit that...

Seems like the card is fine but the reader is pushed to far back. You need to open the centre console and refit the card reader. There is no reason to replace the card. NB. I still think this is a good "quick fix" for panicking people who are stuck with this error
This works great for a temporary fix. However it will eventually let you down, just get a new card, but don't go to the dealer, use an Auto Locksmith, and insist on a genuine Renault card. Watch out for the Chinese copy ones. You can get them done the same day aswell. (Or better still get rid of the car)
all the knife does is apply pressure to a certain part of the card which therefore allows the transmitters solder points that have disconnected to touch and start
and Chinese ones ? if your referring to the motherboard then I can't comment . but the shell doesnt matter. aslong as the board isn't too damaged and re soldiered correctly it will save you at least a oner
We used this method and ended up having to replace the card reader aswell as we were told the knife damages the reader, making it impossible to reprogram a new keycard, be warned!
anyone who pays an autolocksmith or another company Is crazy . get yourself a replacement card shell off eBay because you will break it with this method . unbranded ones are like £3 genuine ones are like £20 Max. open the key card (TH-cam videos show how to so do it ) then basically solder the points that have disconnected on the transmitter back to the main board . million percent fix. I've got no soldering skills and have managed to fix mine today byself after being qouted 190 to 250 fuck that . I'm waiting for my replacement she'll off eBay currently I'm using tape as I broke my key card. don't be scared to break the key card . ive started my car with just the mainboard
great anti theft solution as well. And handy against robbers. What is really handy is the "Knifork". Because the chance that your ass is itching is way bigger than you can't start your car. 9 Times out of 10 it's the card . it's from dropping it on the floor. over time the solder wears away connected to the transmitter
