Everyone gives their car a clean before putting it up for sale but everyone forgets to give the engine bay a spruce up. I show what you can do with no special equipment, tools or no how with normal household cleaners
Stena Nordica Duty free day trip to Ireland Fishguard to Rosslare and back again
มุมมอง 1542 หลายเดือนก่อน
I drive to Fishguard and take the ferry to Ireland. Includes approach to the port, a good look at the shore shop and some of the prices, a tour of the ship including the Stena lounge, and an unexpected real life emergency at sea involving the ship, a helicopter and a rescue craft. Oh and a guest appearance by a fox.

The end of the road, my final thoughts and rants on DPFs, and a plea from the heart.
Does the tumble dryer work fine
I have never tumble dried always dried on airer or line so dont know
That's the garden plants had it 😂
Congrats on finally getting it done after all that pain, take it on a good run, i did mine yesterday (took it on a good run) i drove in 3rd gear only up to 40 mph and 4th up to 70 and was giving it some acceleration where i could for about 2hrs on a round trip to Hornsea and i got the joy of seeing the good old puff of black smoke come out of mine (the car behind me didn't look too impressed) but i was happy lol
Do you think pouring the used cleaner back in could be reintroducing the dirt? Would it be worth trying fresh?
Yes and no,its the same DPF that dirtied it in the first place,so cant make it dirtier. But yes new would be better
the next episodes th-cam.com/video/axj--A4vB_c/w-d-xo.html
great series, personally on the tiny crack where the hanger meets the exhaust i would buy some milliput and put it around it, i did this on my old car (its my daughters now) where i had a similar weld failure and its still going strong to this day.
Im currently 7 days into the second clean as first time around failed. thanks for the idea though but Im not hopeful on the outcome and may well end up scrapping the car, but we will see.
@@bosseyedbeardedbloke there is another video on here of a guy doing this on a merc sprinter camper van if i remember correct the only difference with him was he made it water tight filled it up with wyrms and left it 12hrs if i remember correct then used a karcha pressure washer to blast it out and oh boy did it come out, luckily i have never had to do this as in my tucson once a fortnight or so i will drive it around and keep it in 3rd as the highest gear to blast all the crap out or go for a long run on the motorway and do 70mph whilst in 4th for 10 mins.
@@MonkeyBabba I know the video, he ended up in hospital as he poisoned himself from the stuff. You have to be really careful of pressure washers as some DPFs will be wrecked by one. I ve washed mine out with a Hydroshot which is only 20v and I still managed to slightly damage it.
Well I’m not for from you . Right no water but you need to use new fluid . Regards the water side when you put it back on the car it will evaporate anyway .
thankyou
day 6 th-cam.com/video/1paYF6HP6mw/w-d-xo.html
The dpf fault is actually an electrical fault you do need to clean the dpf but if you don’t tell the ecu that the car will not regenerate anyway . The cleaning alone don’t solve the problem.
4 & 5 here th-cam.com/video/lizOg38QkNo/w-d-xo.html
How much does a new dpf cost ?
different prices depending on make, mine a pattern new one is around £300 second hand if you can get one for about £100 and genuine mazda around £1500
The other thing that really boils my blood is that even with a dpf fitted to your car which can give you so many problems and casts when it clogs !, your car is still classed as a “dirty diesel “ and in many cases your still charged extra to pass through so called “ clean air zones “ so how exactly is the dpf beneficial to your vehicle ? 🙄
My thoughts as well, you have a filter to catch particles that are then burnt off creating gasses by burning more fuel which makes more gasses
I had a Mazda 6 with the same problem ! The cost of the dpf being £1200 at the time , and three sensors on the system each costing around £350 each basically wrote the car off !! I really feel your pain and frustration but I really hope you find a way around this issue mate 🤞
Has the dpf not collapsed inside?
no way of knowing, theres mesh at each end but the mesh is not blocked
@@bosseyedbeardedbloke the mesh is the dpf you are blowing it to bits
Drive it fast for 40 miles, rev it up to 5000 rpm often,
Nice tree, and Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Use wynns car dpf off car cleaner, comes in 5l and works Leave to soak overnight, then flush with water
If you go back and watch the first set think it was day 6 or 7 the wynns was used in two doses, overnight and the following day
Days 7&8 just checked
Don’t drill if get back to me
Right I’ve just come across your video please let me know if you have any problems.
This is the second time round, theres a whole set of vids taken over a week where I cleaned the dpf before and thought I had done it.
Morning from Newcastle 👍

Very informative trip, thank you.
Gutted it didnt run after all your efforts. I hope its an easy fix for the mechanic. Look forward to next vid.
th-cam.com/video/oMq6M8KcWEk/w-d-xo.html The next one
Winns dpf cleaner ,block end and pipes ,fill it up let it soak overnight, blast thru with hosepipe done.. Im sorry to say but you're playing at it with domestic cleaners..you need industrial strength.. Hence get some Winns
Good effort. Hopefully it all worked out after install
this boz eyed guy wants you too see things in a black bucket....make a effort!
Full bottle of fairy max liquid works just as well as these car potions and cost a fraction.
100%, better at degreasing / disolving oil than all these expensive liquids too
final day here th-cam.com/video/oA3KhwOzjsw/w-d-xo.html
What car is the DPF off The Wynn's stuff works better if you can seal the DPF up and let it steep As it works by breaking down the carbon & ash
08 PLATE MAZDA 5. You need to watch the previous vids especialy the first one and maybe the third
@@bosseyedbeardedbloke Ok - well seing as its a Mazda - the problem will be carbon build up in the DPF pressure tube You really need to have the live data read - once the DPF is back on the car The DPF is NOT THE PROBLEM it is a SYMPTON of something else The Mazdas are TERRIBLE for carbon build up especially if just used around the doors Hope this info helps
days 7&8 here th-cam.com/video/hnfUQyqjxvU/w-d-xo.html
The O2 sensor - is a Nox (Nitrogen Oxide ) sensor they are fairly resiliant - BUT if I was you I would loosen it off and get it free while the DPF is off the car Heat the boss that it screws into and then keep heating & cooling it with WD40 - or similar - it tends to do the job What exactly was the origional fault with the car ?? Remenber - the DPF is the last in the line and do not just block up - ANOTHER fault will be causing it to block Unless you address the fault it will just keep blocking Do you have any fault codes - or can you get the ecu read for faults ?? There can be a fault but NO LIGHT on !! These Mazdas are terrible TOO much emissions stuff on them
cant really answer any of that all i can say is that the dpf was so blocked the car would barely run and if you watch the first video you will see how hard it was to get anything to go through it. 7 and 8 is edited and ready but just didnt get time to upload it this evening but i am going try try and remove that sensor tommorow.
Early this year I removed a dpf and used Wynn's dpf cleaner. Blanked off any pipe fittings and the turbo side of the dpf. (Back flush) Filled the dpf with the cleaner and left it overnight. Removed the bung and washed with cold water left it to drain for a few hours, refitted and job done. I just recently replaced the egr cooler and egr and the plastic intake pipes as ford doesn't sell the gaskets separately. With over 90,000 miles the car now has a very hard boost pull and black smoke is reduced by over 78%. Even if you do loads of motorway mileage which i don't the direct injection manifold will still get clogged which is now a job for another day 😳 Hats off too you with your different efforts in dpf cleaning 👍👍
great job, dont know half of what your talking about but it sounds like you know your stuff, just hope mine turns out as good, I am worried about that 02 sensor though
@bosseyedbeardedbloke I would assume you have possibly two sensors which if removed would look like long needles these would more than likely be the temperature sensors. One is normally located up stream of the dpf and the other sensor would normally measure the dpf temperature itself. And not on my car but other cars like yours, you have another sensor which would be the oxygen sensor. The oxygen sensor itself can be cleaned using things such as brake cleaner or contact spray / electrical spray. I'am sure someone will correct me but you may possibly if you can remove it easily enough leave it in some electric contact cleaner over night then allow a few hours to dry. It hard to say if it's completely ruined by the cleaning you have done as some garages near me have done some very weird things to clean dpf's out and have left sensors installed while doing so. It maybe a good idea to try and remove them all and make sure you photograph or mark which sensor comes from which location.
@@Ivan-gm7zb just ordered some contact cleaner so will give it a go. Thankyou so much for advice but if it doesnt work dont worry as I will have removed and put back on which would mean removing on car should be easy
vinegar does not work on dpf and soot..
was targeting the ash, but your probably right

Doing wonders for your plants
You're gonna need a new O2 sensor. Oven cleaner, detergent and boiling water, on a part that should be kept dry, will have knackered it
Thanks for the comment but whats the 02 sensor?
@bosseyedbeardedbloke the O2 sensor is the part that's screwed into the neck of the dpf, inside the tube it's the bit with all the little holes in. Getting them wet with anything apart from carb cleaner usually knackers them. Should really remove it before cleaning (22mm spanner), but they are a bugger to get out, usually need heat and a big pipe on the end of your spanner
