I have the same bike and have 1200 miles on it riding off-road desert southwest USA. I’m not riding the bike hard and believe it to be very reliable and should have very long service intervals comparable to other bikes but time will tell. I haven’t had any issues at all and the gas canister is still original I just don’t top off the tanks as fuel anxiety is gone with this bike it’s hard to run out of gas off-road for me. The aftermarket is there too I just got a wide comfy seat a rack on the back for pannier bags and a mount for the iPhone the bike is perfect for what I bought it for.
It's an amazing off-roader indeed, my point was more on the adventure motorcycle requirement to be comfortable on the road for long asphalt stretch, I'm sure with a better seat and a luggage rack she could be better, but twin cylinder engine gives more comfortable ride on asphalt and commuting, it's just not the unicorn I was looking for adventure riding, in my opinion, it even ended my sponsor with the brand, as we had Irreconcilable differences of point of view. But I repeat nevertheless, it's a great Rally bike.
I do sit a lot I find it more comfortable on long rides especially, even on my 300 2t I tend to sit more than others it helps me gain traction on the slippery uphills but it is a habit I have obtained through many years of riding. Standing is necessary if you want to ride fast and push the motorcycle and your limits. I got the seat from (Uncle Wangs) it’s an aftermarket shop in China and they sell quality accessories for the Kove. Seat concepts makes a seat too I believe if you want 🇺🇸 made. You can get knock off stuff on Alli express etc. but use your own discretion there.
@@jackflynn9169 On UW I'm seeing the Rally Pro, Rally Modified and the seat with wings. The Pro supposedly has better shape and foam from Johnnies comment, so you like it? Prepping for some longer rides when the snow melts, so looking for options.
I have the standard same as stock height complete seat with the wings and yes I like it ,big comfort improvement over stock. from UWs. He will customize it anyway you like but with communication via email only you probably have to settle for what eventually you get shipped to you lol. It’s high quality not junk basically it fits the Kove perfectly. If you’re picky you may want to go Seat Concepts and get exactly what you want but pay twice the price so up to you.
nice vid brother. What's that thing about 49hp ? it's 53 in what we're getting. Also, the front tanks are 7.5L Each, with the rear tank being 16L usable.
@DatBikerDude thanks brother, this zongshen engine develop 49hp in the Kove street legal, 40 in the Royal Enfield Himalayan 😜 and 53 on the rally version, and the tanks on that version I used were not connected together, the bike had a lot of dashboard glitch as well, which made the bike a bit disappointing, and the price tag in Indonesia 285.000.000 IDR 18.000 USD is a nonsense 🙄
Nice overall review on the Kove 450 Rally...enjoyed it! Only correction I'd make is the fuel tank capacities are more like 7L for each front side and 16L for the single rear tank - the rear holds just a bit more than the two fronts combined. Also the rear tire on that demo Kove was really worn down... a good condition proper offroad tire would have had better result on that loose soil uphill climb. Stock reae tire is not great in really loose dirt/sand even at full tread depth. And just an interesting note the Kove 450 Rally carries fuel some 160mm to 175mm lower than a standard dirt bike/trail bike, why it feels easier to pick up than say a Kawasaki KLX300R even though it's noticeably heavier and carrying 4x more fuel.
Great comment, I'm just surprised about the capacity of the front tanks, I could fill 9 Liters on the right, 3 Liters on the left when the gas gage was indicating empty, I wasn't filling the rear tank, the technician @ Hunter Kove told me the gas gage was faulty, so I thought that the left one was still containing 7 Liters, but your statement now makes me confused, I swear I could fill 9 Liters on the right tank. About the rear tire, yes it was really worn down, with only 2800 km on the odo though, but I could have made that loose hill with more momentum and more high rpm, I'm an old heavy rider, 51 years old with 90 kg 🤣, so no excuse on the tire. That demo bike was not in great shape indeed, it is also the first generation, so the ECU mapping is better now on the new Gen, I will try one of the new Gen next week, stay tuned to see the difference 😉
@@Buledoyanmotor Officially its rated @ 31L overall in the factory service/workshop manual, and from most press documentation and owners manual the front tanks capacity is stated @ 14L. The front left tank is the one which has the fuel pump in it so holds a bit less than the front right does. Fuel flows from rear tank -> front right tank -> front left tank with check valves in the joining lines - which means you must fill front left first, front right second, and rear last to get an accurate reading and keep tanks from flowing into the next one downstream. You could fill both front tanks soley by pouring 14L into only the right front tank...as the fuel will automatically transfer over to left tank until it's equalized. I have Gen I, looking forward to any future review of Gen II.
Great Review. Had similar feelings when I did a test ride, felt some annoying vibration on the throttle side of the handlebar and the gearbox was very hard to shit. I also agree that it feels very racey and not sure If it's a good travelling bike for me. Wish I could do another test ride, unfortunately I wasn't able to ride it off road.
She is made for off-road, not Enduro, but rally style, amazingly efficient, but not an adventure motorcycle for going around the world with luggage, it's more a competition bike, a rider, a camel pack with water and go !
Swapped out the bars and a BRP submount and it helps, enough (replace cables w/ KTM, 4" longer). Also trying to follow Jimmy Lewis and IRC tires training with hand position light on the bars "holding an ice cream cone" helps too (so does proper core strength, working on that). 2 to 1 is a 50/50 proposition, sometimes 1 sometimes neutral, still figuring that out. Rekluse helps with a lot of the tighter stuff on a long ride day, sub 4k takeup is a bit shaky still, but I'm sure it just needs adjusting. Kove is 4-6" longer than a 500 so keep that in mind, much better on sand and open country, relatively more of a handful on single-track incl. the extra fuel you can carry. CG has got to be nearly down by the pegs, this bike is so stable I've recovered from mistakes that the 500 would have put on me on the floor. Suspension mechanics are top notch, had a local great suspension friend work on it and he was impressed with the quality. This moto now floats over everything, its my rippin trail couch. Figured if your not a racer the Kove 450R is great to leave the trailhead truck at home, do some tarmac then spit dirt. All day 200+ milers are what its made for or a fancy Starbucks run with dirt on it.... Some longer trips are in the hopper when the snow melts, let's see how it goes. Yeah, it's a bit racy and noisy (open intake) when accelerating hard but damn 8-10k rpm is a blast on everything.

Your review is very good. Let me add something in relation to your conclusions. In reality, this motorcycle has the base of the competition motorcycle, it is true, but with a special configuration to remove a lot of power from the engine, so that you can use it as a street motorcycle, or a domestic enduro, with the usual maintenance of that type of motorcycle, measured in kilometers and not in hours as you would have to do with a thoroughbred motorcycle. Then, compared to your Maverick 500, it is not only the size of the wheels that changes (which is not a little), the suspension also changes a lot, which has a longer travel and, above all, a performance very different from that of a motorcycle. conventional. The suspension is, perhaps, the most important equipment on a motorcycle, and the one that mostly defines its use. You can have a light, heavy, slow or fast motorcycle, with smaller or larger wheels, but the suspension is the main thing in charge of keeping the wheels firmly planted and the engine's power reaching the ground efficiently, in addition to allow obstacles to be overcome more easily. I think the Kove 450 is a great motorcycle because of its suspension, otherwise it would be just another motorcycle on the market, because it is not the most powerful, nor the lightest, nor the most versatile, nor the most comfortable.
Thank you for this great comment, the Kove 450 Rally is an amazing bike off-road, there is no doubt, now as an adventure rider perspective it's not an adventure bike, and it was the point of this video, reviewing it with an adv perspective, traveling with it is possible but not comfortable as a twin cylinder will be, the recent CF Moto MT 450 is a better response to this segment, an adventure bike with a good set of wheels 18-21, good suspension quality and travel, a parallel Twin cylinder engine which develops approximately the same power, but for sure heavier, 193kg wet. The Kove MV500 that I was using had very similar characteristics except for the set of wheels 17-19 hence my conclusion. Another aspect to take in consideration, the Kove 450 Rally is at 17.770 USD in Indonesia, the Kove MV 500 is at 13.900 USD, and the CF Moto MT 450 is announced to be around 10.442 USD, weird positioning compared to the rest of the world.
Have one, but little time to use st present. It is about 10 kg lighter than my km 640 adv. Carries weight lower do to tanks. Not as good for long distance adv camping. Buzz st bars better than Ktm640 Adv. Long distance racing, kove450 better at that. Ktm has 28 liter compared to claim 30 for 450.. Will kove450 replace my 640? Not yet.
It was my point on this video, it's a rally bike, not an adv for camping and trip around the world, very good Dual-sport motorcycles for off-road oriented ride, can do asphalt to commute but not comfortable for long hours
In the kove web page oil intervals are every 2k kilometres, more like an enduro than a trail bike. Also dry weight is 145kg, not 135. Also rear deposit is 15l not 10, so for a total of 31 litres, front deposits must have 7-8 litres of fuel capacity each.
@jorgevazquez2170 it's just not an adventure bike in my opinion, it's a fun bike to ride off-road, si if you plan to do a dakar, or other desert rally on a budget (out of Indonesia for sure, where it cost twice the price of Europe 😁), then it's the right bike for you
@@Buledoyanmotor I entirely agree with you. I think this bike is for off-road with some road capability to get to the tracks, but not for highway or city streets. For long distance touring much better a twin cilinder. Cheers
@@jorgevazquez2170oil changes are as follows: first after 500 KM, then 1500, then 4000 thereafter. The 2K KM one is a valve check. Air filter after every 1 - 1,5K KM.

@@Buledoyanmotor 10 hr days with top case and paniers, is a road trip, thus you need a road cruiser. at that point I will take a convertible. 99% rider will not take a bike with top case and panier into challenging terrains. @David-lq2xg man you should ride with me in Indonesia, bad roads and single track with my CB500X is perfectly doable in comfort, and for 10h per days on my inter islands trips, that kove 450 Rally is not made for that at all, the CF Moto 450 MT or the Kove MV500 or the Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 would do great, for half the price of that Kove 450 Rally which cost almost the price of the Honda Transalp 750 here in Indonesia

@@Buledoyanmotor Totally agree! Thank you for your attention! Greetings from Argentina!
Majority of power between 6000 rom and 8000 rpm, so tractor factor not great?
Yes, apparently the new mapping gives the peak Torque earlier, but not on that particular motorcycle
Ride mine b/w 6k and 10k rpm w/ a Rekluse.
Nice little review but you are wrong in your use assesmenr it cant go long periods without maintenance. Enjoy
this bike was only 2800 kms and honestly really was in need of service, well it is a demo bike so for sure was really abused by test ride

It is an adventure bike, the industry keep gaslighting us that a road cruiser is an adventure bike. The adventure does not stop where the road ends.
@@David-lq2xg top case and paniers for 10 hours per day travel are not made for that bike, especially with the vibrations it gives to your hands after only 1 hour ride
@@Buledoyanmotor 10 hr days with top case and paniers, is a road trip, thus you need a road cruiser. at that point I will take a convertible. 99% rider will not take a bike with top case and panier into challenging terrains. Thus a road bike.
BMW GS1200 is bad on single track, yet no one complains, because its a road bike.
Super essai merci!
Super commentaire, merci 😁

this is a rally bike, not meant for average joe, if you want to go real offroad adventure going on the mountain top
True, it's a rally bike, not an adventure bike, and I'm just an average Joe who enjoy adventure bike and light off-road, I never pretended to be a Dakar Rally pilot 😉
