Would love to see you review some Kobe reps, the good performance reps have been gaining so much popularity and would love to see a teardown to compare the tech and see how they stack up to retail. Love the vids!
I actually liked these better than the originals, but I think it was all sizing. I usually wear 14s very snugly and they were so long my toes were jamming on every step like you described. I went 13.5 on the lows and they fit like a glove. It's interesting that they changed them this much.
For me they just fit noticeably longer than the mids. I have both in an 11.5 and there’s just more room in the toe box of the lows, and I did end up getting that movement inside the shoe too. It’s not a deal breaker, I just have to wear thicker socks and lace up real tight. Tbh the weight difference is what draws me to the lows. To me, it does make a difference after playing for a couple hours.
Hey! I’m planning on buying it for casual wear. Can you please elaborate on your experience with these and also how’s the durability of this shoe?? Thanks!
The lows will require The Foot Dr. Cushioning pads. Only issue with lows, feels flat and harder thsn mid, but cooler on feet than mids. Mids are better to play in more secure, but the low has the better lacing above bridge of toes. Can pull tight to lock foot in. Lows comes alive with a different Cushioning put in. True to size. If size 11 2E wide .. mids and low fit.. but the mids are more locked in tight due to tongue strapping foot in and the lace cut. More space in low. Prefer the mid
I have played in these about five times now and I absolutely love them. I have the EQLZ 247 in a 12.5 and those are so clunky. Definitely too big. My back and knees always hurts when I play in those. because my body is fighting for stability in an oversized shoe. However, the AE 1 low feels nimble for me. I actually had the high in charcoal and returned them. You can tell that the high top has a better quality cushion system, but that forefoot lacing doesn’t work with my feet as I have wider flat feet in the top of my feet sit up very high. These also felt too small when I ordered them in a size 12, however after the first day of breaking them in they are my favorite shoes to put on now.
I did experience the toe jam in the mid. I didn't lock them down tight. Grip is superior. I still give the best to the air jordan 37. It has everything my foot and body needs.
I'd love if you were to add details about the size of the outsole/outrigger in your reviews. The huge outsole of the SC 3ZERO II have saved my ankles landing on others' feet so often that it's now a must for me ! I discovered your channel a week ago and you've helped me SO MUCH I'm incredibly grateful !
I’m an actual hooper and I hate when I have a shoe that make my toes slide into the toe box. But I just got the AE1 lows today and broke them in…didn’t have that problem so I’m thinking u just got too big of a pair. Either that or u have a narrow foot, the shoe is made for wider feet people. Wide and flat footed people to be exact.
I was waiting for this breakdown. Thanks Zach! I played a few games in the mid tops recently for the first time and have the same foot slippage issue if you don't lace them very tight at the top (causing some discomfort). They also have some stability issues around the forefoot because you can't lace them tight in that area. I understand why they didn't make the top 5 list now 😮
I was thinking of picking these up but I have very fragile toes (multiple surgeries,) and now I won't be getting them after watching this video. thank you for all the info on these.
I felt no heel slippage in these. The lacing is also a big improvement over the mids. The toe box does seem a tad lower than on the mids. The change in cushion is noticeable, but mostly based on personal preference.
no hate, but i have both low and mid and they feel pretty much the same to me. i think they are good, not great performers. Its the design that everyone is attracted to so most will say that’s why they are sneaker of the year, basketball wise
Awesome review as always Zach! These were almost exactly my thoughts on them to a T when I first tested them out vs the mids. Although not G.T Cut 2 tier bad, can we please move on from completely detached tongues in hoop shoes? 😵💫 I also felt the overall rigidity on the shoe was significantly greater than the AE1, which really cut down on how nimble I felt despite the weight of the shoe. I think lighter shooting guards and forwards will favor this version more, as I did feel it had a much more responsive cushioning system due to the lack of sink you feel in the mids. The low is still a good shoe, but I favor the AE1 more personally overall and also think it had little to no break in period whereas I felt the Low took a decent amount of time for me to feel comfortable in the shoe. Thank you for all your work ✊
Hey Doc, great vid as always. Two questions, will you be reviewing the serious Player Only shoes? Second question is regarding drop on the shoes, I’ve heard from running videos that low drop are beneficial for the foot and natural movement, how does thay apply for basketball shoes?
I went with size 12s because my other shoes fit that way but the toe box is a little too tight. Too bad you can’t really exchange them since they’re sold out. I don’t like the new color way coming out tomorrow.
have the harden 7s, ae1 mids and ae1 lows harden 7 > ae1 mids > ae1 lows on the ae1 lows, I realy have to tie them super tight to have a nice responsive feeling and not slipping around. the ae1 mids wasnt like that. I only played once in the lows and hope i break through them. After that, Iam deciding if i return the shoe or not.
Hey Zach! I’ve been watching your channel for a long time and it has honestly made me consider what I want to do in the future. This upcoming school year I’ll be a Junior in high school so I wanted to ask you for any advice you can give for a person who wants to get into the medical field and/or sports medicine field. I’d really appreciate it, thanks!
Was wondering if these selection of shoes would be good to try or not worth it. Have a 2E foot (although i can deal with length being a little long), weigh around 200 lb, and have plantar fasciitis. The shoes I was interested in looking into were the Nike GP Challenge Pro, GP Challenge 1, Adidas Barricade 13, Wave Exceed Tour 6, Enforce Tour, and (if you've tried it yet/got it in the mail) the Roger Pro 2.
OK so I love the ae 1 mids but yes I destroyed my toe nails playing in them. I'm thinking I need to go a 1/2 size up and just wear double thick socks or use a thick orthotic
Hey, Doc? Haven't got a hold of Adidas Dame 9? I'm waiting for your take on that, and based on your review will be my decision of copping them. No pressure. 😉
I’m with Zach on both reviews of the ae 1. I purchased the mids ignoring his advice on the first video and regret it. Won’t be purchasing these. Clunky, heavy, and a lot of foot sliding. Great vid as always
@@lionelgrisbane agreed unfortunately it seems the big brands keep cutting corners. It’s time to start looking at these newer Chinese brands like way of wade and 361.
Hey Doc do you recommend the bbv2 or harden 7/8 for someone with 4e foot and wants impact protection? I’m a heavier guard trying to lose weight but I really need that wide base for cuts and movement

Hello Doctor, this message is meant as an suggestionnfor content mentioned in your newest email. I would love to see an sizing guide for different foot shapes and conditions, and how to properly measure the size that would be beneficial for you. What I mean by measuring, is that since I for example have Mortons Toe (second toe is the longest) how much space should I have in front of my toes to the end of the shoe and what kind of conditions can too small/too large shoss cause in the long run. Thank you for the great content!
The mids hurt me more than any shoe in a long time and for the exact reason you said. My big toe was jamming so hard. That was even with way too much space for to the length. I love the looks and they are comfortable until you start really going. Too bad..
These aE 1 are constantly sold out in every colors always I gave up trying too cop.i get em next year. when everybody don't care bout em no more.the aE vol,2 are coming out. Everybody are go jump 🦘 on em too
The laces are very poorly chosen for this model. If you replace them with a flat lace slightly wider you'll be able to tighten them up much better and get the fit you're looking for (0 foot movement inside). Flat laces will also take away the pain on top of your foot you get from the original laces.
I still say this is the most overhyped shoe of the past two years, regular and low. SO BULKY. Unique style, decent foam, but eh... there are better shoes.
You tied them wrong. That's why the tongue slipped. You have to put the laces through the pull tab. Lace it up to the last loop hole. A way better feel on the foot. There is an opening on the top of the pull tab.
