The whole point of Dumble was that it was tuned to suit individual players by the man himself. Hence the mythical “no two sound the same”. That can no longer happen.
You are the no 1 guy that has convinced me not to buy an expensive amplifier. Any expensive amp you've purchased, you've sold 😂
Don't spend more than $2K and be prepared to keep an amp 1yr for each $100 it costs... $300 amp you gotta keep it for 3yrs, $1K amp keep it for 10.
@BOSSenjoyer I have a Bassbreaker 30r. So that's 7 years? I'll take that. Who knows what the industry will be like in 7 years
@@nekkon1989 Yeah it fits the timeline for sure, reevaluate in 7yrs and anything else until then is in addition to the 30r. All of this your ears are crucial before you buy, demos or in person. If I pick up a BB 007 combo used I'm most likely keeping it a lot longer than 3yrs and selling nothing.
Great playing and also interesting to get some insight into what’s going on in the amp industry with one of the most mythical brands !
They're not building Dumble's... They're just using the name because they paid to trademark it. Dumble died with his secrets and listening to the NAMM clips it's VERY obvious that he didn't share anything with anyone.

The entire Dumble conversation is only for the 0.01% of select players out there, not for the rest of us IMHO…
i’ve been playing for 20 years and own many of the more popular time-correct amps modern modelers are emulating. i’ve encountered a real dumble once. i didn’t know it was a dumble, but i did know i had never heard a clean like that clean at FOH at a gig. i swiftly went back to the amp room and sure enough it was a steel string slinger. this was in 2013. whatever they have now is not what they had then. there truly was something different about those amps. some kind of magical quality to the way it pushed air. so round and tingly. crazy
I'd rather have a Fender or Marshall than needing to audition to have the privilege to spend $20K and wait years with rules about not being able to call/follow up. New Fender and Marshall seem to sound more vintage than a vintage Dumble somehow.
With all due respect to the guys from Andertons, their recording of Dumble tones sounded like a fart in a jar of bees. But then again maybe it sounded great in the room? If only it weren't unobtainable, then we could have a more informed opinion. But then those amps wouldn't be so desirable.
Only issue I see is that Howard is dead, different Chef, different soup.
Bru… the drop @ 0:38 , that was sick😮❤🎉
Yeah sorry the clips from Namm sounded closer to helicopters in the jungles of Nam than guitars through a dumble at Namm.
I believe this hole stunt just happened to ensure that the will keep the trademark and sue everybody using the name "dumble" in their product description....
I don't know who "they" are. It used to be just the guy.
Your tone in the opening was delicious !!
Its intriguing. I would love to get mi hands on one
John I hate to sound so redundant. But when you play that Silver Sky you become a completely different player. It just seems to fit you like a glove! Great excellent clean tones and melody!
The absolute pinnacle of the Emperor's New Clothes phenomenon......
absolutely
I visited the dumble booth and was chatting with the guys (made a vid on my channel). Interestingly they told me they have ‘one of their artists’ just been in New Zealand. They said it was Luke Combs. So they must be making them for big name people still
Interesting. Drew Berlin seems like a Property Brokers kind of guy lol
@ could be. I barely spoke to him. Both him and Matt did seem passionate about all things dumble so that’s cool
Obvious cash grab.
Thanks for not telling anyone about my two new amps...
I’m a bit confused. Don’t trademarks and copyright laws protect a product whether it is currently produced or not?? Why must the Dumble “Trust” make a few amps to protect the copyright and trademark? Sorry, I am not a Law scholar……
Yeah the whole, "were not making them" "oh yeah we are making them" is a bunch of legal BS. Bottom line is whatever they build is Not a Dumble. And I agree with the other comment, clips from NAMM sounded like crap.
It's all cannon fodder
Might as well buy amplified nation amps instead
Nice clean tone! Is it the helix? Or The fender deluxe?
I'm not sure Dumble really knew what his was dong anyway - it'a all a load of mthyical nonsense of which there is much in the guitar world.
Fumble,.
Umm... I thoght the overdrive supreme was being built by many different people already.
Playing a j m model on a video about Dumble amps and a person Mr Dumble couldn't stand after what he done
Dude sounds exactly the same no matter what he uses!?
They are working to preserve the name and trademark or anyone could purchase the trademark
For all the 'Johnny Dckheads' like us, there is Two Rock or Amplified Nation. We are unlikely to ever need better (even assuming new 'Dumbles' are better).
two rock has provenance, provenance they built up and earned. this "Dumble" has a brand they bought off a dead man's estate. at the end of the day a nice amp is a nice amp but if I'm spending this much, I'd prefer it not to go vultures.
@@TCMx3 Earned? they literally stole everything they know from Dumble. They didn't buy ANYTHING. Drew Berlin and Swanson have known Dumble for DECADES. You're so ignorant.
@@nikonmikon8915 no time to correct such ignorance. blocked loser
But if, as legend/lore has it, all Dumbles were different - and tweaked for the individual player - how can you build 'a Dumble'? I'm not doubting that Mr Dumble was a great amp maker - but at the end of the day all tube amps are made of tubes, resistors, capacitors and transformers - basic electrical components, none of which have any magical properties. And over time, the properties of all of those will drift/change as they age. The 'magic' is purely in the hands of the players - i.e. give me a Dumble and I'd still sound 💩
“Not a replica, but a continuation of the tradition.”
Nonsense by any other name is still nonsense, no matter how many Mr Dumbles you ladle to your story.
He made some great amps no doubt, but obfuscation might be the biggest part of the crystal lattice that is the Dumble legacy.
Apparently...although I don't see what all the hoopla is about. th-cam.com/video/dDhQcoWd8sM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=40BNL_X3KcyHLPWJ
