On the second ippon, isn’t there a break in the posture of the kendoka who is attacking kote ? I don’t understand how the judges can consider there is zanshin when you’re all bent up like that after the attack.

It’s a fantastic Kote Ippon. No teaching or writing of Zanshin says you have to have perfectly upright posture at all times and in every instance😉
I recommend watching this video that I think will be useful for you when doing more mitorigeiko - th-cam.com/video/8eVZ1kTg1ws/w-d-xo.html

@@TheKendoShow Very enlightening. I’ll definitely work on my shinpan mindset. Thank you for the quick feedback. Always great content in your videos. Keep up the good work.

To my understanding, if they can't take the center line, or don't have a way to retaliate in the same tempo that you did the attack, you'll have controlled them enough for an ippon to be declared.

    Thanks for the video analysis!
    Question for future rant:
    Hi Andy,
In all your years of practicing in Japan, did you ever witness a student get kicked out of the dojo? What's it take to get kicked out of a Japanese Kendo Dojo?

Why are Japanese martial arts videos always sped up?

aristotle29 this video is not sped up ;) it’s slowed down in parts.
