Different they are but both sound great and are played beautifully! Good Job! The Keilwerth sounds deeper and warmer more like a small tenor whereas the Selmer is brighter with more sparkle.
In my opinion, thicker top end on the Keilwerth but stronger mids on the Selmer. Kind of like different EQ's, one V-shaped and one with a more peaky midrange. I tend to prefer either one depending on the melodic passage being played. In the end, I would probably decide based on ergonomics and perceived response.
I played on the show with Grover Washington back in 1975 he was playing in Mark VI . This was during the time he recorded Mr magic with Bob James. If you listen to the sound it is different It's a lighter brighter sound I liked him on his Selmer. in the '80s he switched to the keilwerth SX 90 He also played an H couf which was brass. But later I noticed he switched back to SX90 till the day he passed. Grover was a big influence in my playing today He was a very nice man He even showed me a couple of scales and some fingerings backstage I will never forget that .Good man. Rest in peace GW.
They both sound beautiful, but I'm leaning on the side of the keilwerth to my ears it has more resonance. Sam Rivers played one on his solo album "Portrait" sounds amazing. Can I ask what ligature you use? Thanks for posting, Beautiful playing 👍
Selmer jakiś taki bez wyrazu - ot okrąglutki, ładniutki, łagodniutki, smooth sound. Dziś jak nigdy muzyka, brzmienie musi mieć pazur i coś co ją wyróżnia spośród miliona podobnie brzmiących, okrągłych, wymuskanych brzmień.
I wonder which horn is yours? You seem more at home with the selmer. Most of these A/B vids are against the players usual horn, which is not a fair fight! Love your playing man, but you definately sound better on the VI, which I generally don't care for.
The selmer actually shut down occasionally on several account when pushing lots of air through it. While the Keilw. has a smooth transition taking all the pressure without cracking a single note.
Mark VI yay. Keilwerth nay. Sounds great but the Keilwerth seems less in tune, doesnt have a uniform tone from top to bottom, and forces you to go in and out of playing jazz blues and playing smooth jazz. Just my opinion.
@@LeszekN Yes. You like Keilwerth because you play Keilwerth! They sound great but the character, even in your Giant Steps video, sounds like smooth jazz. The VI has less character and is good for a variety of sounds👍🏿
I have a SX90R. Bought it new in 2003. Love the sound and ease of play. Altissimo fingerings are different vs the Selmer.
That's the way to play a tenor man! What mouthpiece you wailing and shredding on ...LOVE your approach to improvising the 12 bar blues..
Kirk Whalum, Grower Washington, Er. Watts - played at keilwerth.
So does Euge Groove & many others.
@@timbly5824 of course.
Both sound great. I’m leaning to the Keilwerth.

It's not the Instrument! It's the player.......!👍🎷
some time .
You can’t go wrong with either but I prefer the tone of the Keilwerth
With this type of tone and style he would make a $200 Chinese horn sound just as good. 👏👏 👏
The real test might be in the upper and altissimo range. All horns generally sound great in the lower and mid octaves.
Keilwerth - the best in modern world.

Grover Washington Jr. used the SX90R in his career, man I love the sound of that one.
Don't be too sure! Many players record with a different horn than is pictured on their album! He could have recorded with his mark 6.

Keilwerth
You sound magnificent!!!
Keilwerth is the king🎷

to jest ustnik z 1940r. Tu nie o pazur chodzi :)
SUPER !
💛
Keilwerth ❤
Man, I dont like selmers, but you made that VI sing.
Excellent play! I like the Keilwerth better
Me too 😊
Hi Len. Great job! Which do you like better. I have both. My Keilwerth is in the shop. I miss it .
Both are cool but Selmer has a deeper soul, a something that makes it cooler.
One is just as good as the other.
Muito bom ! Deus te abençoe!
50/50
Keilwerth is giving strong Lester Young vibes
Why do people always asking about mouthpiece and Ligature...what if everyone played an Otto
Link with a Selmer Lig
Love keilwerth but some of them don’t have that deep tone My super 20 has a DEEP tone and I love it
Selmer Mark 6 лучший для джаза
Kielwerth has more substance in the upper register, but overall, the six is better...
geaRtest of the gReatest...
Keilwerth smoother, lusher sound. Selmer has more edge.

Keilwerth is mine for last 23 years.
Mark VI played for the very first time
Można wiedzieć jakiego mikrofonu używasz?
Qual escala você usou nesse improviso!?
Typo: Which do you like better???
Nice saxophonist
The Keilwerth sounds better. The Selmer is too nasal. Problem of most Selmer Paris.
Agreed 100%
The selmer actually shut down occasionally on several account when pushing lots of air through it. While the Keilw. has a smooth transition taking all the pressure without cracking a single note.
Zdecydowanie Selmer
Jeden idrugi instr ma ciekawe brzmienie , ale moim zdaniem 90 procent barwy wyciskamy z zadęcia , ustnika i stroika a
10 procent z blachy saksofonu.
Masz racje
I’m from America but have the same last name as u lol
Jednak selmer to klasa ciekawsza ,ciemniejsza barwa
Pare osób znów napisało, że Selmer jest jaśniejszy :)
Dla mnie keilwert jaśniejszy i lepszy sound
Selmer has much more personality- Keilwerth cuts and is bright but Selmer kills it
Yep , selmer really has a deeper and velvety sound! I choose Selmer
Definitely the mark VI has better sound

I definitely preffer Keilwerth ☺️
@@LeszekN yuck🤮 lol!! The Keilwerth sounds like smooth jazz and only like smooth jazz!! The VI sounds like it can do both
Really?
