They won a couple of Grammys, and she's had a very successful solo career. She's been nominated for several Grammys and won one a couple of years. I've seen Dom Flemons (jug and bones) at several bluegrass festivals recently. Stop looking for division and discrimination where there is none.
I have been playing guitar and listening to a lot of styles of music since I was 12 years old. Now at 65, I would love sit in with these guys and lady on this song! I have it from iTunes and play along with it regularly.
I am a 50 old white woman, this band NEEDS to be recognized for their musical talent, LOVE LOVE them. I grew up on the hill and bluegrass music> Give them some love!
Yeh, I am white as well. What difference does that make? It is their talent which makes them amazing. And talent they have in abundance. (Sorry, but I don’t get the point you’re trying to make?? You make it sound as though it is a rarity that “white” people should be listening and enjoying this group. I am sure that is not how you meant it, but that’s how I read it. Why can’t you just type something like “love this group going to see them”. CCD are in my opinion one of the most deserving groups out there at moment. Proper musicians and performers (just watch Dom’s version of Policeman, you will see what I mean). Please don’t take offence to what I said, it wasn’t meant in a bitchy way. I just don’t understand why people still, maybe unknowingly, have to stipulate differences because of race or cultural background. Let’s just enjoy stuff because we’re all human beings.
i will concur with that ! and smart, also ! she is classically (operatic) trained and plays I don't know how many instruments. I've seen her play a fretless banjo on Austin City Limits. I am in love with her, not only for her musical talents, but also 'cause she is a fine looking woman. Oh, if only she were available, I'd be over at her house every morning when her mama went out to milk the cow & gather the eggs. I'd marry her clothesline just so I could hang around her house !
Wow! Thanks for that! I remember my grandfather often singing random snippets of a song as the mood struck him. I think this may have been the song. I remember " corn bread and butter beans...and her across the table?" That phrase has bounced around in my memory for about 50 years or so.
I literally live in NC and I'd never heard of these guys until yesterday. I don't even like bluegrass music, but the dude with the bones and the jug was going at it hardcore and I can appreciate that. (The singing and fiddle were great too, I just love seeing bands use weird or odd instruments.)
I just Love this song. It's catchy&gets in your head. It's one I can sing when I'm up in the Derrick stabbing casing and nobody can hear me. Plus I love Rhiannon!!!
Lol These guys came down from Appalachian state and played in the Doc Watson(rip) music festival in Cove Creek, North Carolina and everybody was like blown away!
I was at this festival! I got to speak with Rhiannon after the show. I love that they have gone on to be successful as always on their own but I do miss Dom and Rhiannon together. Maybe they will do a reunion album one day!
Dadgum, I don't know if you all are still playing together but I will be looking to find more of your music! I can't believe I just now found you folks!!
Why in the hell am I lugging around this big upright bass? I could drink and play at the same time!!! Mind you, you're not going to get any backing vocals. ...Which could be a good thing....
How can this music be not recognized? These people are amazing.

I started taking guitar lessons in 1966, then piano three years later.
My Mom wanted me to learn piano, but I was too interested in learning guitar. Now I wish I had learned piano.
Great-this is national treasure of talent an beauty-wish it was the old days an they had a weekly show !
I'm from the Ozarks and your music brought back some very happy memories. Thank you.

Is it allowed anymore for me to notice that in addition to being an AWESOME musical performance, she is absolutely beautiful?
i will concur with that ! and smart, also ! she is classically (operatic) trained and plays I don't know how many instruments. I've seen her play a fretless banjo on Austin City Limits. Holy Cow... I wish I found this band earlier... better late then never I suppose. Most Awesome!
Now I will be singing this song in my head all day long. Good work crew song. The chemistry in this group is amazing.
That jug gives it a nice bass background. Surprisingly like a standup bass that supports the fiddle and banjo nicely.
when i saw these folks many moons ago i was blown away...i still am
Rhiannon Giddons and Leyla McCalla are just too beautiful and the music is even more beautiful. What hateful soul give this thumbs down?
I feel sorry for anyone who isn't jazzed by this
Who ever they are...they’re not getting any of my cornbread
@@weswolever7477 I gave it a thumbs up. Can I have their cornbread?
I haven't had good cornbread for quite a while. LOL.
@@weswolever7477 lololol
Wow! Thanks for that!

All the politics, petty bickering, animosity, etc etc etc etc etc are an illusion- music is the only real thing.
