Thanks for sharing Quanzhou to the world!! also fun fact, many overseas Chinese in the Southeast Asia (like me) trace our ancestors back to Fujian particularly Quanzhou, and most of these Chinese are indeed businesspeople!
As a Chinese born in Quanzhou, but now live in Germany. I've learned Quanzhou more in this 10 minutes video. Thank you Amy. I'd like to bring one fun fact that the pronunciation tea from various counties around the world came from Quanzhou where local dialect call it "Tjie" (Minnan, Hokkien,闽南语), while in Mandarin Chinese it is called "Cha".

Add a small piece of history. Quanzhou is also the home town of the descendants of the royal family of a kingdom in ancient Sri Lanka. In the early 15th century in the time of the Ming Dynasty, the king of Ceylon (世利巴交剌惹) sent the Crown Prince to China as an emissary with the Treasure Fleet of Zheng He. While in China, the Crown Prince felt in love with China and asked the Chinese emperor for permission to stay. (It was not an isolated incident. The Sulta of Melacca visited the Ming Emperor and stayed in China for 7 years as China was then the richest country in the world). He was granted residence in Quanzhou and married an Arabian princess. They sired descendants but kept very low key for generations. In the late 1990s the Sri Lanka government requested the Chinese government to help to find the descendants of the "lost" Crown Prince. They could find no trace of the descendants but with the help of the Chinese government, found an ancient family graveyard with the insignia of the Prince. They tried to remove the tombstones for study. When news broke out, the direct descendant of the Crown Prince, now a Chinese lady called Xu-Shi Yin E (许世吟娥), came up and called a stop to the intended destruction of her family graves. Upon verification and close investigation by the experts of Sir Lanka, she was established as the direct descendant of the Crown Prince and hailed as the Princess of Sri Lanka and the Sri Lanka government hosted a "Royal Return Home Visit" for her in 2002 where she was treated like royalty in Sri Lanka during the tour. The lady is now a "friendship ambassador" of Sir Lanka and China. So much was the historical bond between China and the surrounding countries in Quanzhou. Exported along with the tea leaves from Quanzhou was the word for tea in many European languages. The word for tea in the southern Fujian dialect/language ("Minnan hua") is "te" (or "de") and the pronunciation is almost identical to that of the French word "thé", the Spanish "té", or even the Italian "tè". From there we then have the English word "tea" and the German word "tee".
I think this must be one of my favourite of Amy's videos. Have just rewatched and shown it to my kids (prefer it to all the eating videos, can have more like this, please)
I'm fourth generation Singaporean Chinese and my ancestors came from Quanzhou (many Chinese people have migrated out of Quanzhou since hundreds of years ago, many Taiwanese, Southeast Asians of Chinese descent can trace their ancestry back to this city) :) Quanzhou actually has an Arabic name "Zayton" (which means olives), it has the last remaining Manichaean (which came from Iran / Persia) temple in China - Cao An (草庵) which was disguised as a Buddhist temple following the persecution of Manichaean followers during the later part of the Song Dynasty. In fact hundreds of thousands of Arabian and Persian traders settled in Quanzhou at its peak and some of their descendants do still remain there, mainly people whose surnames are Ding (丁), Ma (马) etc.; a few years back they even found a Chinese woman in Quanzhou who is the descendant of a Sri Lankan princess. Persian princesses were also frequently brought to Quanzhou to be wedded off to the Mongol royalty during the Mongol Empire (Yuan dynasty)
As a Chinese born in Quanzhou, i am so glad to see your video!!!! You did a really good job:D Next time maybe you can try some traditional food in Quanzhou, which is also very famous in China, and tasty~
Great discernible progress in video making can be seen in this episode. Such as the introduce labels of architectures made by AE. And filming a temple by holding the camera going straight on the axis from far away to face. Thanks for so much efforts on producing such a nice introduction of Quanzhou!

Neatly packaged clip of tea! Hahaa. Good on yah Aussie!
Great discernible progress in video making can be seen in this episode. Such as the introduce labels of architectures made by AE. And filming a temple by holding the camera going straight on the axis from far away to face. Thanks for so much efforts on producing such a nice introduction of Quanzhou!
