After seeing you recommend aperture lights, I for sure knew this was a bit. Which goes to show you I did think about using pelican cases.....oh man, I gotta be careful if I'm comfortable justifying splurging on a 400 dollar case for board games.
Lol this started off pretty believable and the laptop stand is a great idea. Even the pelican boxes sounded good. I imagined having them in the back of my truck as a board game storage option. But about lights, this is easily the easiest upgrade everyone can do to their homes. Everyone should get those LED bulbs. I have them in all my place, even the kitchen stove! Lol. They are 5000 color temperature super bright lights. Lights up the whole room.
what led bulbs/strips do you use? I am looking for lighting options and 1000 is prohibitively expensive. I live in an apartment so not many over head options that are also convenient.
That last one was a bit painfull - for the both of us ... #3 is one I would recommend for a lot of people, but I do think a budget solution from a certain nordic furniture chain would suffice for most people :)
The Pelican cases are awesome, but expensive. BUT if you get the right size, you can use them for your airline carry on too. I bought mine for photography equipment. It even has a specific padded spot for a laptop and accessories. Well worth the money. They are supposed to survive an airplane crash. So my kids don't need to worry. If I'm in a plane that goes down, they still inherit my camera gear and laptop!
Okay, looks like a joke not a secret. 1. you can take the ikea tables. There are many different small tables for snack etc coat point less then 60$ 2. Boardgame backpack? costs the half of your boxes 3. Light? okay but you want indirect light no spotlights. ceiling floodlights are a good solution if you don't want to install a better light permanent on your room. 4. This is a good secret. I never heard of playing with other people. I only play solo. lol

Regarding light -> I purchased for TI4 mainly but also been using at friends places where light is dim. Nanlite LumiPad 25. Comes in at ~$120, plus you'll need to buy either a studio light tripod or use an existing tripod with 1/4" - 3/8" screw adapter (~$5). This thing is really powerful and can adjust the light colour (from warm to cool). You can also buy external batteries if you want it to be battery-powered but no need really. So your suggestion ~$1000 bulky -> ~$150-200 (depends what tripod you want) small and light.
That one will work great! Actually we recently just bought Amaran 60s (~$160) and they have insane output for their size and weight! We put them on cheap light stands no problemo. LEDs are so good nowadays that if you don't mind build quality and CRI too much, you can get some great deals. -Ashton

Great idea, but because of supply chain issues we had to wait 9 months for delivery.
Not only that, but when they graduate and move into your basement you might lose your game room.
