HMX The Game 1989 Classic Switches | Sound Tests & Review

Let’s check out a switch from HMX’s new “Film Series” of switches. The first one I’m gonna be looking at is The Game 1989 Classic switch.

So the 1989 is by far the deepest switch by HMX to date. I mean these things are bassy as heck, but I really enjoy that. I was getting short travel long pole fatigue. It’s nice to see something that isn’t all Nylon with a super long pole stem. The typing feel is excellent as most HMX switches tend to be. Tho it did take me a minute to get used to it due to it being a full 4.0mm of travel. Felt mushy at first lol.
Factory lubing is solid for the most part, but I did have quite a bit of unwanted noise in my batch of switches. Particularly leaf crunch. It was recommend to me to take the switch apart and push the lube around the leaf to help alleviate the unwanted noise, but I had to take a brush with a small smidge of 205G0 to get it to stop. After I did that all unwanted noises went away.
So would I recommend these switches? Yes to anyone who is having long pole fatigue and is wanting something deeper sounding compared to previous HMX offerings. And to anyone who doesn’t mind potentially having to open the switch to lube the leaf.

They come in packs of 10 or 35 with an artisan switch holder. I highly recommend getting x35 at a time because the packaging is fantastic.

Great review/write up! I agree, they are DEEP. Btw, this the best thumbnail for a keyboard video haha. You’re making me want to bust out the SNES and play some Super Mario World 🤩
@@keebscape Thanks! Yeah I wanted to try to make the thumbnail fun and appropriate for the theme of the switches haha. One of these days I’ll get better about remembering to write a script so I can do a voice over lol.

damn thats a rough review lol. this is a no thanks for me. lol.
Just wanna be transparent in all my findings. Others may not experience the Leaf crunch, but some may lol. Don’t wanna be like “these are perfect!” When they could potentially have issues.
@@RandomKeebs oh 100%, the review is solid, i meant this switch sounds like a pass with all the crap noises and it being quiet and deeper.
