You can do some fun gimmick stuff with charged O'Flame with a bunch of buffs.
(Flame Grant Me Strength, Radagon Icon, Fire Scorpion Ring, Incantation talismans; this hits for a ton of damage at 70 Faith)

I think the funniest thing is that another youtuber wrote a fix for aim punch, casually, as a side note for his video on aim punch. Literally went "here's the fix, it takes 5 minutes, feel free to copy my code" I love from soft games, but sometimes they can just be weird man.

Nope this weapon is ok the rot takes forever to activate as well tho I haven't used it since the last patch but it was definitely mid at best

Try dual Flails. The jump attack are amazing. Also they cant be parried. Decent for bleed builds too.
Would love to see one of these on the Axe of Godric. The great axe changes have made it one of my favorites

I have two rotten Great axes, one frost infused with lions claw, it does scarlet rot of 60ish, and frost proc of 153, the other blood infused with royal knights resolve. It does rot of 60ish, and bleed proc of 135. Dual welding them is a force to be reckoned with...
The rotten greataxe with blood affinity is the best, i usually run stamp to fling enemies up and deal bleed damage with almost every or every other hit for tons of damage but another fun one is prelates charge ash of war on keen and apply vykes dragonbolt and bloodflame blade, works insanely good
Have we done beastman curved sword yet? I'm pretty sure the jumping heavy combos into light attack but can't confirm

Hey Chase, Happy New Year to you and thanks for continuing to give us these showcases. Since you started doing them so early compared to your showcases for DS3, many of your early ER showcases are outdated after recent patches significantly changed many weapons. Do you plan to update any or leave them as they are? I’d love to see the claymore showcased again, maybe this time with dual wielding?

You have to try this weapon with cold infused. It becomes a whole new level of beast. Also mushroom crown as well.

Demon Prince couldn't let go of the Chaos Rapier + Combustion playstyle from DS1.
I notice if you do a turn while running, your character will do an animation that blocks any dodging. It catches me all the time.
That's if you reverse directions without turning. For dodges and backstabs it's useful to learn to really quickly rotate your direction stick so that the character switches directions in a tiny circle, rather than direct reversal with the animation.

Quality builds are extremely good because you can use both dex and strength scaling weapons. It gives you access to the largest variety of weapons imo.

Okay hear me out.. a full on torch build for saint Trina’s showcase. Sleep them with saint Trina’s then hit them with the fire breath from steel wire torch. You could even work the torch pole into it! Maybe you can even power stance torches 😂

This is probably the only colossal weapon I kind of like.
Havn't played much pvp yet since I use mods, but it seems that most players just spam WA's with the occasional Jump Attack (especially during invasions) Do you like ER's Combat compared to Darksouls 2/3?
Jump attacks are strong, so people use them. Some people OVERUSE them, but that is very punishable. I have thousands of hours invading in Ds3, and I prefer the chaos that the weapon arts bring to the fight. Much better than the R1 blenders in Ds3. This is all from an invasion standpoint of course.
@@evanmorse2085 Yeah I can see why you would prefer that over blendering. I did find invasions against multiple casters annoying before however (not hard to punish mostly, but annoying), and with Weapon Arts, to some extent, everyone is a wizard now harry. Well, if nothing else, it's certainly new and fresh.

What does Aim Punch refer to?
Like in an FPS when you get shot it throws your aim off, for some reason in elden ring the same thing happens. With colossal weapons this is worse since you often need to trade hits and when you get hit it can make your character model flinch and your attack misses when it shouldn't.
Please from soft just remove the aimpunch

You know it really bothers me that all axes seem to have the oddest arc where if your target is crouched or below you in any way you just completely whiff. Does anyone else notice the axes whiffing a lot when or is that just me 😕
That guy cosplaying Goldmask and Radagon had an interesting build, clearly trying to focus on Golden Order Fundamentalist abilities. Wouldn't mind seeing Chase do a video on that meta, if he hasn't already.

I just...can't get used to seeing these latency issues in Elden Ring pvp...like, the delayed hits and stuff. I don't even know it's just the hitboxes or latency now that I'm thinking of it.
Visual delay is just part of Fromsoft PvP. Latency is part of EVERY game you play online, but some games mask it better, or have a server which resolves timing conflicts between two players. Since Fromsoft games are peer to peer, you don't get that fancy interpolation to smooth out what each player sees. At this point I barely even notice it.

6:17 of course he’s not going to aggress when you’re using storm stomp ❤. That’s a very low risk, easy punish against him and bypasses any tradeoff of using a colossal in the first place. This player still made careful attempts to move in as he should.
I commend players who avoid putting storm stomp on ultra-heavy weapons or ps ss, etc. as an easy way to dish out 6-700 dmg. Hopefully FS nerfs storm stomp’s poise to something easier to account for, 83-88 sounds more reasonable. Braggar’s roar/warcry etc on colossals won’t get you many plaudits for winning either..
Are you serious? He's using one of the worst weapon classes in the game... even with Storm Stomp colossals get out-dpsed by almost everything (should've added everything meta like ps ss, ps gs etc). I edited to remove out-traded because that was the wrong term as you rightfully indicated below.
@@1blueeye Colossals (swords included) out-trade anything in the game that’s not ps jumps or ps great+ swings. Colossals wiith warcry/braggart true combo out-trades anything in the game period except (possibly) halberd/lance warcry counterhits or claw rkr jumps. I would agree with you if he was running storm stomp 2h hammer/axe/flail, but trading is the entire enterprise with colossals.
Colossals are absolutely one of the hardest classes to use - their weakness is landing a hit in the first place, which storm stomp negates by allowing 1 swing from any weapon setup, whether that’s dual ss, spear, or a 2h colossal. This is also true of flaming strike, another clutch skill which ignores swing speed, although fortunately that’s not useable on colossals. Don’t get me wrong, Chase’s mechanical play is well exhibited with flame of redmanes, but of course a good player will be reluctant to aggress a colossal with storm stomp. 600+ dmg per swing with the bit of extra from stomp is enough to safely 3-4 shot any opponent.
@@codeyakexpeditionaires6854 when I say out-traded, I'm referring to meta setups. Optimized ps ss, ps spears, ps gs. Even ps greatswords win the trade sometimes. Trading wasn't the right word, what I meant was for every 1 attack from a colossal these other weapons will land 3-4 times. Maybe colossal swords being somewhat of an exception. I've seen someone use endure on a colossal trade with someone with an endure Cleanrot and get watch the colossal user get melted. My point being, storm stomp is one of the few "viable" ashes on a colossal and Chase didn't even use it much. Most weapons can hit you through hyperarmor and be out of range before the colossal is active. But yes, technically they trade well but against meta stuff they are virtually worthless.

A friendly reminder to reset your Physick!
Imo Flame of the Redmanes is the most powerful AOW for PVE. It can pose break most bosses in 3 hits. Combined with the 140crit dagger and the talismans that give you HP and FP on ripostes and you can beat the entire game with it. Malenia took me like 5 attempts first time I did her with this set up.
Hello player from 10 months ago, Flame of the Redmane was heavily nerfed. It's basically useless for PvE.

Watching people just playing passive and running away baiting whiff punish is just so par for the course for the current arena experience.
I never understood why PvPers guard with their melee weapons when running. Like yes, it prevents pivoting, but so many people do it when running straight. It lowers your stamina regen, you run the risk of getting guard broken, and your inputs are more likely to get eaten by the game. Can somebody enlighten me?
There are kind of a lot of reasons. One being that it prevents pivoting but if you’re facing someone in 1v1 combat and they’re halfway decent, they’ll get used to your attacks and movements and if they’re really good then they’ll be able to space properly. Running at them and using your guard instead of your R1 makes it look like you’re about to attack them with your weapon.
Some players panic roll the moment they see the enemy player’s hands moving and who is crazy enough to run at the opponent, get within melee range and use block instead of r1? They’re prepared to roll the moment your character takes an action. The guard mechanic is kind of like a feint.
It also can cause confusing movements. If you use the claymore for example, 2 handed, and you run and R2 then you’ll run and let out a wide sweeping attack. If you unlock from your opponent, run at them, guard, run, R2 - it looks kinda like you spinned your character in a circle to attack….which idk if i’m explaining properly.
It also resets your attack to the first stage of your attack. Meaning, if you’re using knights GS, then your first r1 is going to be the downward slash. That slash catches people quite frequently. Sometimes running at the enemy, catching them with a standard R1 and then guarding to reset to the first stage of your weapons attack, while quickly timing your sprint so you can attack the moment your weapon is down with the animation, can allow you to catch them again.
Also, some melee weapons like the colossals and greatswords are decent for blocking and retaliating with a guard counter though I don’t see many people do it. If you have enough confidence in your knowledge of this game and you can make the educated guess to run at the opponent with the intention of blocking because you know their weapon will not break your guard - block their hit then retaliate with an ash of war like storm stomp for its hyperarmor and it allows you to hit the enemy with your colossal as well and set you up for a jumping R1 or R2 to roll catch the enemy for the win.
There’s a lot to it and I think there are some videos on youtube about it.

When you get hit by an attack it will displace your character. that doesn’t interrupt the attack, but instead can make your attack miss because of the displacement it does it to you.
