  • Snap On LN46ACF The Mini-Me is here! The Snap On LN46ACF Triple Joint Needle Nose Plier is my new favorite plier in a rather crowded field. Runner ups include other Snap On and Knipex.
    I got these from Joseph Hull, a Snap On dealer and TH-camr (channel: Snap-on Tools Tri-Counties) who live about as far away from me in Canada as possible. Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Anyway, I saw his Snap On new tools video linked below and emailed him to see if I could buy a pair or two of the pliers from him. Happy to oblige, the pliers just arrived after traveling almost 3000 miles!

    Ok, now imagine these pliers with the Knipex Twin-Grip pivot and adjustability. They'd be cheaper than those, too. Come on, Knipex!

      @SBBUK หลายเดือนก่อน

      Agree - the jaws on this are better but I prefer the button style adjustment on the knipex. Normally I just buy Knipex, especially as they're at least 1/2 the price (snap on prices are just mental) but as Knipex don't make a slip joint needle nose this is the first tool that has got me seriously considering Snapon!

    Damn it my dealer is retiring soon. But those little ones would be perfect for instrumentation. Just because especially on Rosemont pressure transmitters you need a needle nose and a tweeker to terminate them. Having a little pair of the 3 POS needle nose to be able to tighten up flex connectors and use the same pliers to fish the wire into the terminals would be great

    I appreciate good pliers, have many Japanese, German, Swedish and European offerings. Ive avoided Snap On due to the really high cost and the fact I dont use tools for a living to justify or use the great warranty Snap On has. But...Snap On has some awesome offerings these days that are such a cut above the rest, I don't think I can live without these new tools. USA manufacturing can really kick ass when it puts effort into something.

      I take it you're an Australian? (user name) I'm asking because I would love to get my hands on some Swedish tools and it may be I'm just looking in the wrong places, but I never see any for sale in the usual spots I like to peruse in the states. As an engineer, I think Swedish engineering is criminally underrated and would love to try some of their tools out. For whatever it's worth I 100% agree with you on US manufacturing as well. We seem to have this dichotomy of it being absolute shit or extremely good and super expensive. In my experience even "cheap/bad" Japanese manufacturing is good, at least it blows our cheap stuff out the water.

    • @lastbesttool
      @lastbesttool  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think absolute alignment is only possible in the first position due to the curved arch of the pivot and the somewhat crude manufacturing processes. Also, only the first pivot would be commonly used for precision grabbing. The other pivot options are suited for thicker workpieces. Yours are actually better aligned than mine.

I know it sucks for people like us that don't have a truck to visit and don't want to pay an even more insane mark up on Ebay via resellers... • @lastbesttool
      @lastbesttool  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Due to the arc of the positioning holes, the center one is higher meaning that engagement in that position pushes the opposing jaw higher. All three position arched designed have this bug/feature. I assume the tradeoff is better and faster centering of the position compared to straight across where it would be easy to catch the spot between positions as often happens with conventional two-position slip joint designs.

It seems like the lawsuit over the jack design theft was some sort of "draw" but with the pliers I really hope HF gets sued to oblivion they deserve it. People like to moan that nothing is made in the US anymore, but those same people don't give two shits when a design is blatantly stolen and made in Taiwan, but sold at half the price. Don't get me wrong I do think Snap Ons prices are insane and I do understand why people get upset when they can't afford it, but it just really rubs me the wrong way when a design is clearly stolen and people line up to buy it knowing such.

    What's up with those diagonal cuts on the sides?
    If they can make a 4" pair I'd try them out for pocket carry, but otherwise I don't see a place for them for me.
    Heck if they can just make a 3 position versiom of the 44acf I'd try a pair right away, I'm currently back to carrying the 44acf in my pocket in place of my Sebertool m4 multitool.
    I've said it many times and will say it again, I'm never going to drink the koolaid and I believe the Knipex hype will eventually settle down.
    They're currently just a fad and eventually people will stop hating on those who prefer to stick with the old standandards that have gotten the job done the past 100 years.
    Everybody else was raving about the micro Knipex pliers for EDC, but I went right against the grain and ordered the snapon 44acf instead.
    I just find straight jaw pliers much more versatile and useful than angle headed pliers for pocket carry, and I'm an adjustable wrench kinda guy too so no pliers wrench.
    The 44acf and my old MAC AW4 are a formidable pocket combination.
