I carry a Wilson combat classic chambered in 45 ACP, and your 1911 vidios are extremely helpful. Thank u and keep um comming.

    Knowing you're 10mm fan. Always gets me to watch and learn from your videos. You're what brought me to buy my Rock Island 10mm hc. Great handgun! That is easier in a owb. Just due to the weight of the extra rounds. (Don't leave home without it) My Dan Wesson is a .45. I may need to save up for the 10mm.
    Thanks for sharing

    I had a Dan Wesson Bruin 10mm long slide . Wow !! Excellent trigger , action and accuracy. It was the slope nosed ( their very first long slide that they produced) and it required a silly bushing wrench to disassemble and reassemble, it was a bit tricky and rather inconvenient and so I sold that gun just a couple of weeks ago at a gun show . I intend to replace it with another one that has the traditional plunger without the bushing wrench required for disassembly/ reassembly.
    But I have contemplated the Razorback as well . The long slide is just long enough ( 6.03” barrel ) that it provides a noticeable difference between shorter barreled 10mm pistols to help tame the recoil down . It’s very pleasant and manageable to shoot . You’ll never want to go back to a Kimber ( I’ve fired the Campguard ) or Ruger or anything less once you’ve fired the Dan Wesson 😉 Worth every penny and every bit as good as those higher end Les Baer and Ed Brown custom guns ( like you said , you’re just paying for the ‘ bragging rights ‘ ) I’d rather have the extra $1,500 to feed my DW some ammo !

    1911 and 10mm seem like a perfect pair. An all metal gun made even thicker to handle the nuclear loads of 10MM and to handle the recoil.
    I love Glock 10MM , but that flex tells me that my great grand kids won’t be seeing the original parts on that gun after moderate use with full powered ammo.

    Hah! You crack me up. I too have learned to not piss into the wind, which means that as much as I would like to move away from the urban life, kids and grandkids are keeping me and my wife close to the Seattle area (barf). As a 1911 fan who really likes the double stack Para Ordnance pistols (daily carry is a P10, and the fun range gun is a P14). I also have several RIA .45s, (along with a Smitty, Ithaca gov't and a real to life Detonics) and have been eyeballing the RIA double stack 10mm for critter control when we finally can move farther from the rat race of urban life. At least that's my current excuse. Seeing that you own one is further encouragement, so thanks for that. Pat

    Great review and opinions on the 10 mm in this presentation. You disgust forged Construction in this article as well in the January 2018 review, are all four of these in this review and in the January review pistols forged? ..In deciding which to purchase it is harder for myself and others to be able to handle all these pistols physically do too the stores do not carry all of them. Torn Between the Ruger SR1911 10 mm model 6 7 3 9 and the Dan Weston Razorback RZ 10 model 1907 also the Valor model 1862 . The only aftermarket upgrade I would do would be front sight change on ones without a optic or night sight. With my inability to find all these to handle, how do I and others make a final decision ? Thanks again for all your reviews.

    • @Icarryone
      @Icarryone  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unless you intend to shoot literally thousands of rounds through a 1911 - and most people don't - the cast versus forged debate isn't really that big of a deal. Choosing the 1911 that's right for you will depend on your budget, personal preferences and model availability. Regardless of price, the best part about a 1911 is that they are easily modified to suit the owners preferences.

    What's the difference between forged and cast? I mean the process?

    • @Icarryone
      @Icarryone  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the casting process, metal is heated until molten. Then it is poured into a mold or vessel to create a desired shape. In the forging process, material is pressed or hammered into a certain shape while still maintaining a solid state.

    When im watching 10mm videos, besides MAC nobody ever mentions the Springfield TRP operator. I guess people are pissed at Springfield for that thing a while back. That does not change the fact that Springfield is awesome.

      Agreed, Springfield does make some excellent firearms. Too bad they let their politics get in the way - in the long run, this has really cost them. (Sad indeed.)

    So you plan on getting a Springfield TRP 1911 in 10mm? I was wondering about your opinion of one of them vs. the other 10mm offerings between $1000-2000.

    • @kingbaldwiniv5409
      @kingbaldwiniv5409 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I will not say a negative word about Dan Wesson, no issue there. I would love to save up for one soon.
      Your ill will toward Springfield is without merit.
      I have known Bob and Carol Reese, the owners of Springfield from when they came to my town for their medical treatments regularly. Whereas I didn't get to know their adult children that have taken over running the family, Bob and Carol were ardent 2nd Amendment supporters and pro-individual liberty, in addition to being absolutely super human beings. When I met them, they treated me as though I was as important as anybody that they could meet. I was not and am not that important, but that was how they operated.
      Please keep in mind that there are real people you are defaming.
      IFMA was created by both the Reese (Springfield) and Larson (Rock River) families to protect the interests of both of their companies.
      Keller (the president of IFMA and an experienced lobbyist) operated independently of both families; that way neither could screw the other over. Both families gave a starting donation ($50,000) and then let Keller run things from there. When he saw an opportunity to protect both companies against a bill that he thought would certainly pass, he cut a deal.
      Neither family was happy with what he did, therefore he was fired.
      Even before things went public, Dennis Reese was scheduled and was preparing to testify at the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing against the bill (his statement is available online).
      If anything here was unknown to you, then you ought to reconsider your position.
      It is nonsense for Dennis Reese to have known about the decision to game the system by IFMA on one hand, but then to go out and publicly humiliate himself by advocating AGAINST that very legislation in the Senate at the same time.
      If he was just trying to provide cover for nefarious dealings, then he wouldn't have cancelled the appearance and simply provided a written statement against the bill afterward.
      The position that Springfield betrayed the 2nd Amendment because a contractor took advantage of them is nonsense.
      The real Benedict Arnolds are the know-nothings that will throw defamation around without knowing the first thing about what took place then adding 1 and 2 together.
      If you want to get mad at somebody, check out Daniel Defense and their CEO's statements about civilian ownership of firearms.
      Check out what companies supported Dick's AGAINST the 2nd Amendment.
      What about Ruger's position IN FAVOR of the Assault Weapons Ban in STATEMENTS PUBLICLY BEFORE CONGRESS? Personally, I think that he was trying to perform triage on what he thought was going to be much worse, but they considered it a mistake.
      What about Glock's bribery and cheating on contract bids as well as their being more than willing to toe the line on the Clinton gun control measures? I will give you a hint, they were not friendly to American liberty.
      There are a lot of bad actors in the gun world, the Reese family isn't one of them.
      Please don't go around saying things as though you won't ever come into contact people who know better, or are friends or family of the subject of your derision. It exhibits poor character.

    I'd venture that the Rock Island is probably one of the most effective handguns out there when it comes to capacity and foot/pounds cranked out. Sure you get a lot more horsepower out of a .500 Magnum, but the 10mm, especially in heavier loads strays into .41 magnum territory.

    I used to like the rock island 1911s but convinced they arent solid guns, my brother has a 9mm one and its always bin good so i got my own 45. But when he was visiting i showed him it and he went to load it (since our guns are always loaded) and when he dropped the slide the hammer fell down. The round missed his leg by 1 inch, so i sent it back and they gave me a brand new one, hammer drops again. So im gonna get a refund and buy a remington 1911, the rem one will be a series 80. I never took them apart besides the standard cleaning disassembly. First one had only 300 rounds thru it new one has none. Would not recommend to anyone. No matter the warranty, sorta lets ya know that its not a good product. I havent tried citadel yet but they seem to be the real steal lol such a nice handgun, night get one some day but for now its rem.

    • @Icarryone
      @Icarryone  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have several RIA handguns and have never experienced any issues with them. I also own a Citadel and have been rather pleased with it. As far as 1911's go, the Remington R1 has a pretty decent reputation.

    A 10mm 1911 makes alot of sense. 25yr accuracy vs 45 ACP is noticeably better. I'd say 50yrd 10mm accurate shots are doable, but I need more experience. 10mm is the right MM.

    I am on the same team with you, although my preferred carry would have a 4" or 4 1/4" bbl. More recoil, sure, but I find it an acceptable trade off. I also carry owb. Much more comfy, and only a tad more difficult to conceal. Again, acceptable. One place I will go withOUT an edc is NOWHERE, big city, little city, no city. May never need it, hope not, but I have little say on the choices of all the weirdos, read liberals, out there who "feel" like I owe them something, or ANYTHING! Call me crazy, but I carry my own "weight". Expect others to do the same, or stay the hell away from me. God bless President Trump, a MAN for the ages.
