Enjoy the remaining days until you invite us to join you both again. ❤xxx
Aww thank you Jill, what lovely words! We had a lovely time, so pleased you enjoyed it, hope you had a wonderful Christmas, see you for the New Year! xx
What a great video and way to turn it around so fast! We can’t believe how beautiful the fall colors still are there. Loved the extra views in the pubs! Makes me want to be there!
I love it, I thought my wife and I were the only crazy people who dressed up in Christmas outfits on Christmas day.🤶🏻🤶🏻 Our Christmas tree is very old, it's my wife Juliet's family tree from the 60s. It is literally a broom stick painted green with green pipe cleaner things of different sizes, large down the bottom and getting smaller as it gets to the top. When it has the decorations and lights on it it really does look wonderful. When I was a kid I once bought my dad a packet of razer blades and wrapped them up like a small present, I will always remember the look on my dads face when I gave it to him. As a tree decoration we have a small flat box the same size as the razer blades. And Juliet has many favourites from her childhood too. This year because of our two rag doll cats. who can be a bit naughty climbing onto the base of the tree and knocking everything over, I put the tree up on the other side of two sliding glass doors so we can see the lights with the door when shut and open it up when it was Christmas day. We have a battery powered Christmas train witch I have going around the tree that plays Christmas tunes as it go's, and a Garfield cat that rocks back and forth as the song It's the most wonderful time of the year plays. Christmas is all about memories and tradition. Unfortunately both our family's are gone now and it's just us two on Christmas day, we never had any kids. I work in my duo on New years eve so it's not quite the same when you have to stand there and play music for five hours. But at least we have fun with other people. Wow Julie you are such a good cook that vegetable pie thing looks yummy, I do all the cooking around our place, So I might have to try something like that out one day. The pub was a great idea for the Christmas meal such a lovely atmosphere, and no cleaning up, and as my old mum used to say... It always tastes better when someone else cooks it. 👍🏻👍🏻❤❤
Aww it’s good to keep traditions going, your tree sounds quirky, I bet it’s lovely and has a lot of wonderful memories attached to it! ❤️ We loved having our youngest here, and the matching PJs was so fun, never done it before, but it was a good giggle! I’ve put the hotpot recipe in the description, but here it is if you wanted to give it a try, it’s delicious! See you for the New Year Geoff! xx HOTPOT (serves 4) Potatoes x3 (medium/large) Carrots x3 (large) Onion x1 Corned Beef x1 tin (340g) Beef stock (enough to just cover) CRUST 8oz Self-Raising Flour 4oz Beef Suet Salt & Pepper to season Water Method: Peel and chop the potatoes, carrots and onion Cut the corned beef into small squares Put it all into an oven-proof dish and mix Add beef stock, enough to just cover the ingredients Put either foil, or a lit on the dish and bake in a moderate oven, Gas mark 4, 350°F, 180°C for 90 minutes, stirring half way For the Suet Crust Put the flour, suet, salt & pepper into a large bowl Add water until it forms a firm dough Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough to form a lid for your dish (depending on your dish size you may need more, or less pastry, it’s always half suet to the amount of flour and enough water to form a firm dough) Remove the lid/foil from the hotpot and put the rolled out pastry on top as the lid Make a hole in the centre to allow the steam out (Optional - At this point you can brush the pastry with egg if you want a glaze) Increase the oven temperature to Gas mark 7, 425°F, 220°C Bake for a further 25 minutes Serve and enjoy!
What a wonderful Christmas! Thank you for sharing it with us. 👍👍 Wishing you all a very happy new year - I can’t wait to see what 2025 brings for you and Rhapsody xx 🎉
Glad to see you had a lovely Christmas. Thank you for fitting the vlog into your busy schedule for us. Rhapsody's like a tardis, storing all those decorations. Best decorated boat on the waterways. Wishing YOU, and all your followers, A HAPPY, HEALTHY, PEACEFUL AND SAFE NEW YEAR. Barry from Essex.
Glad you had a good Christmas seeing youngest son! Excellent Christmas lunch with eldest son and family and evening spent with youngest son ! Didn’t see middle son but spoke on the phone! So precious to be with our sons isn’t it! Now in Lincoln seeing daughter and son in law! No cooking for me this Christmas! Bliss! Happy New Year Julie and Martin, see you in 2025!
Yes, it was lovely having one of our boys with us this Christmas, hoping to see our eldest at some point too! Sounds like you’ve had a perfect time too, with no cooking lol! Have a great New Year, see you in 2025 Liz! xx
🎉Merry Christmas to your family from our family. We are in Cape San Blas, Florida for the week. This area of Florida is known as the "Forgotten Coast" and we love that it isn't spoiled by development and heavy tourists. Happy New Year's! You guys are my absolute favorite narrowboat vlog to watch...thank you for bringing us along for the adventures.

Yes you’re right Jacqui, it goes way too fast! He was here for 3 nights and he’s now back home, but some lovely memories and giggles! So pleased you had a good one too, see you for the New Year! xx
Hi Julie and Martin, it looks like you have had a magical Christmas. Sorry I am a day late but I have been seeing family. I am already looking forward to your next video, have a wonderful weekend. Lots of love and best wishes
Ah it was lovely to see your son. He seems like a great chap and lots of fun, but then of course he will be with you guys as parents! Glad you had a lovely time. Happy New Year when it arrives and hope it's a good one for you. Lots of love. Kerry, Colin and Alfie NB Time to Pootle xx
Thank you for sharing your Christmas with us. Your son is sooooo cute, you all definitely made me smile, your joy was so infectious. Your son went along with all of it 🤩. Loved the decorations - heck, I just loved it all. Merry Christmas to the cutest narrow boaters. 🤗🥰 from 🇨🇦🎄🧑🎄
Honestly Janice, it’s amazing! We didn’t think it would work until someone cooked it for us and now it’s a family favourite! Just potatoes, carrots, onion, corned beef and beef stock, then a suet crust pastry topping, a lovely one-pot meal! Let us know what you think when you try it! Thanks Janice, see you in the New Year! xx
How lovely! First of all that photo is really great and your decorations are beautiful. I think it was a good move to have Christmas Eve dinner on the boat and then letting someone else do the Christmas Day. I love that Elvis cutting board, BTW, and of course the Candy Cane Crew jammies. Looks like you have a lovely time with Craig. Glad you had a great day! And now for the new year... ❤
Merry Christmas. That was so beautiful having your son for Christmas. Thank you for sharing w all of us, 12:44 the boat looks fantastic all dressed up for Christmas. May 2025 be a beautiful and prosperous journey for you two. Appreciate you sharing your lives. Much love from California.
Aww thank you Anne, it was so lovely having our son to stay, it goes so quick though doesn’t it! Glad you’ve enjoyed our video, hope you’re having a wonderful time, see you for the New Year! xx
Hi Julie, Martin and Craig. Thank you so much for sharing your Christmas 🎄 with us. We enjoyed seeing you enjoy your friends and family Christmas. Wishing you all a very happy New year 🎉🥂🍻😊
Your home looks so wonderfully festive, i do hope you have had a fantastic christmas and wish you a very happy new year. Looking forward to your vlogs in 2025. Regards Alan
Merry Christmas Julie & Martin from Redding, CA, USA. We love watching your videos and have learned so much about narrowboating, Britain and feel a part of a much larger world. Now I’m going to go try to make your Hot Pot recipe. It looks delicious! Have a wonderful 2025!!
Aww thank you Dave, it’s lovely having you onboard! That hotpot is a family favourite and so easy to make, a lovely one-pot meal! Just potatoes, carrots, onion, corned beef, beef stock and then at the end, a suet crust pastry lid, yummy! Let us know how yours turned out! See you for the New Year Dave! xx
Hahaha 🤣 yes so true! Thank you so much for coming and finding us yesterday, and for the bottle of Champaign!! We didn’t look at it properly until you had gone, wow so generous of you, we might have this to welcome in 2025, or we could save it until May, as I have a big birthday coming up then! 😜 But thank you so so much Nigel! xx
Thank you for showing us your Christmas. Got to ask Julie , where the dickens do you put that lot the rest of the year. You must be very tidy. I just love the band, could listen to them all day. Brilliant.
Aww thank you Bernadette! We do try to keep the boat tidy lol, but the decs are stored in two plastic boxes under the dinette seats and when it comes to putting them out, we swap all of our usual ornaments and trinkets etc with the Christmas decs, so they are now safely out of the way whilst we have Christmas, then we’ll swap them back in the New Year, we’ll try and show that when we put them away! The soldiers are my favourite, I’m so glad they still work after all this time, we think we’ve had them approx 25 years! Hope you’re having a lovely time Bernadette, see you for the New Year! xx
What a feast . Making me hungry . Christmas in the Midwest USA was rather uneventful . Although comparatively speaking we endure winds you mention in this video frequently . My family in northeastern Ohio have had a lot of snow from the last week of November . 1.5 meters with drifts over 2 . All from lake effect snowfall. Needless to say you all look to have had some mild weather too . Happy Christmas !
Oh wow, that’s a lot of snow! Yes we did have mild temperatures, dull, wet and windy, but lately it’s been a lot colder, with mist and fog! Hope you had a lovely time, thanks Sean! xx
I hope you have a lovely 2025. Many happy memories of Buggy Basin and the surrounding area as originally from only a few miles away. Nice to see the Navvy again.
When you said hot pot, I was thinking Asian. But when I saw you making the delicious looking dish I realized it is similar to our (Tennessee) pot pie. Lovely seeing y'all having a wonderful Chtistmas!❤
Julie & Martin I can see you’ve had a wonderful Christmas I hope your New year is as much fun as well A little question - where do you hide all your lovely decorations 😮
Hi Diane, we did have a lovely time, hope you did too! Our Christmas decorations are stored under one of the seats at the dinette, every year I swap our usual ornaments and bits for the decorations, the regular ornaments go under the dinette seating, we’ll show you when we put it all away. Thanks Diane! xx
Hi the boat looks beautiful with all your Christmas decorations, have a great time. When you made your hot pot did you put a suet topping on it, it looked so good I’m going to make it, I normally put dumplings on top but your one was a good idea x x x
Hi Eileen, yes, it was a suet crust pastry topping, it’s delicious, a family favourite and so easy to make too, let us know what you think when you make yours! Glad you liked the decorations, hope you’re having a lovely time! See you for the New Year! xx
Merry Christmas, lovely to share it with friends and family and by looks of your faces good food. Merry Christmas to you all and look forward to what 2025 brings 🎄❤️🎄
I have just one question where do I get them singing solders love them I have had Santa's singing trees snowmen etc but never seen soldiers. Oops sorry,, glad to see you had great Christmas
Hi Dave, I wish I knew! We bought these about 25 years ago, we remember they were £10 each (which was a lot of money back then) and there were 5 in the set. We could only afford to get 4 and I’ve always wanted the fifth soldier, a drummer boy (snare drum) but sadly cannot find them anywhere. We bought them at a shop called Do-it-All which also doesn’t exist anymore. They are my pride and joy and so pleased that we have really taken care with them and that they still work like new after all this time! Really wish I could help, so pleased you enjoyed them too! Hope you had a lovely Christmas, see you in the New Year Dave! xx
I think I'll make your version of Hot Pot for dinner this weekend. I see the ingredients, but what are the cook times and temperatures? Will let you know how it turns out 😅
Hi Randy, it’s a lovely meal, a family favourite! Here’s the recipe and I’ll also put it in the description too, please let us know how i5 turns out and what you think, we absolutely love it! Hope you’re having a great time! See you for New Year! xx HOTPOT Potatoes x3 (medium/large) Carrots x3 (large) Onion x1 Corned Beef x1 tin (340g) Beef stock (enough to just cover) CRUST 8oz Self-Raising Flour 4oz Beef Suet Salt & Pepper to season Water Method: Peel and chop the potatoes, carrots and onion Cut the corned beef into small squares Put it all into an oven-proof dish and mix Add beef stock, enough to just cover the ingredients Put either foil, or a lit on the dish and bake in a moderate oven, Gas mark 4, 350°F, 180°C for 90 minutes, stirring half way For the Suet Crust Put the flour, suet, salt & pepper into a large bowl Add water until it forms a firm dough Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough to form a lid for your dish (depending on your dish size you may need more, or less pastry, it’s always half suet to the amount of flour and enough water to form a firm dough) Remove the lid/foil from the hotpot and put the rolled out pastry on top as the lid Make a hole in the centre to allow the steam out (Optional - At this point you can brush the pastry with egg if you want a glaze) Increase the oven temperature to Gas mark 7, 425°F, 220°C Bake for a further 25 minutes Serve and enjoy!

HOTPOT (serves 4)
Potatoes x3 (medium/large)
Carrots x3 (large)
Onion x1
Corned Beef x1 tin (340g)
Beef stock (enough to just cover)
CRUST
8oz Self-Raising Flour
4oz Beef Suet
Salt & Pepper to season
Water
Method:
Peel and chop the potatoes, carrots and onion
Cut the corned beef into small squares
Put it all into an oven-proof dish and mix
Add beef stock, enough to just cover the ingredients
Put either foil, or a lit on the dish and bake in a moderate oven,
Gas mark 4, 350°F, 180°C for 90 minutes, stirring half way
For the Suet Crust
Put the flour, suet, salt & pepper into a large bowl
Add water until it forms a firm dough
Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough to form a lid for your dish
(depending on your dish size you may need more, or less pastry, it’s always
half suet to the amount of flour and enough water to form a firm dough)
Remove the lid/foil from the hotpot and put the rolled out pastry on top as the lid
Make a hole in the centre to allow the steam out
(Optional - At this point you can brush the pastry with egg if you want a glaze)
Increase the oven temperature to Gas mark 7, 425°F, 220°C
Bake for a further 25 minutes
Serve and enjoy!

The soldiers are my favourite, I’m so glad they still work after all this time, we think we’ve had them approx 25 years! Hope you’re having a lovely time Bernadette, see you for the New Year! xx
@@JulieandMartinonRIB You too Julie and Martin , a very Happy New Year to you both.
We’re loving it here, stunning scenery! Thank you so much Dave xx
When you said hot pot, I was thinking Asian. But when I saw you making the delicious looking dish I realized it is similar to our (Tennessee) pot pie. Lovely seeing y'all having a wonderful Chtistmas!❤

A little question - where do you hide all your lovely decorations 😮

See you for the New Year! xx

See you for New Year! xx
HOTPOT
