Good to see John, finally my forged (nearly unobtainium), pistons arrived at the machine shop...of course now they are totally swamped with work though. At least you will be back up running before I am...month 9 on the project is almost gone on the 10th of October. Car is flat ready, just need the machined, blueprinted, balanced & assembled short block, and a trip to Vegas to pick up a couple of 5 gal pails of race gas now!
I think monkey fab has some v-band flanges that take a copper o-ring you could use on the hot side, that way you wouldn’t have to mess with the headers.
They sent metric bolts with my flowtechs, but for $250 I'm not complaining. They are a good set of headers. The merge spike is nice. I'm sending mine off to have them ceramic coated inside and out. Should help spool up
Good deal Turbo john... That point in them headers will help with exhaust pulse and scavenging for sure,,,,hope they help that sbc spool up faster as well..and of course go faster,,.👍👍😎💪💯....
Can’t wait to get my car together i was in a bad accident and my wife and son are Paralyzed so the race car got put on the back burner at least until I can walk again I got broke up bad but I got a Trans Am with a 6.0 LS stage two turbo cam and 94 mm turbo turbo 350 with a break and a 9 inch I would love to hang out and learn some from you and work on the hot rods
TJ ... If your going to set the small tire world on fire do just as you are... One small fire at a time ! ! Awesome video! Oh and that TP inside the header might change the way your motor sounds too
why wouldnt you want to run those headers down and forward instead of up? seems like it would solve alot of your cramped space problems, and make plug and valve train service a breeze.
If your decking the surface of the head and going for a thinner gasket arnt you raising the cr ratio? Or are you no concerned with that? Just curious John
Yes, the deck height was more on this block. So reducing the head gasket and cutting head will bring compression back up some. Gasket is .007 thinner and he took .006 off the heads.
Oh, you might want to take the headers to your machinist and have him check/square the decks on those flanges. Cheap headers are kinda notorious for the flanges not being square. Would hate to see you get it all back together and then have to deal with leaking headers at the head surface!
For the price and you say it’s stainless that’s a good looking header you can’t even buy that much tubing for that price. And just because it’s made in China shouldn’t mean a thing.
It seems like yesterday, that cheap headers meant $79.00 from PAW. 🤷♂️
Just keep "Beating and Banging" Buddy ....
We are behind you!
The cat has a new hangout lol 😆 😂 🤣 😄
John if you want to use a gasket the best ones out there for a good seal and will last on a turbo car are Remflex gaskets
Love low buck builds, not everyone can throw a SMX in their race car. Keep up the good work.

Man, it never ends for sure....good luck on getting it back together quickly.

Definitely like the copper header gaskets. Should help tremendously.
Thanks!
Thanks man!
Someone in the comments on an old video actually told you about those 1206s gaskets.
Awesome pair of headers for the money! 🤩🤩
run the flanges on a 36 in belt sander. i only run some red rtv. no gaskets
Back in the day that was a 1200 dollar set of headers. Fast paced production

About average how much is that?
You can get a copper gasket that is reusable for that style vband, just heat, anneal and use indefinitely
Good deal Turbo john...

Nice upgraded parts 👌

Those header gaskets will help
please make sure the block decks are level.
John I was just wondering if you are going to clean up the header flange?
I got the shiny version of those for my SBC due to availability reasons, but yeah they work.
Bought a set of the flowtech 1-7/8 stainless up and forward turbo headers this spring off eBay for $250.00 decent headers for the money
Nice ! Looks like your going on the right direction 😎
mounting the heafers low would also mean less tubing on both the hot and cold sides
They make a great ls turbo manifold but the sbc ones are pristine
Spend some of those Youtoob bucks for some ceramic coating for the hot side and ditch the furry wrap.
Old headers maybe for sale? Working on a sbc elco setup.

Copper spray ....Torque heads ... Back off ... reTorque .... Let sit overnight ... ReTorque.... Boom no heating required 👍
Looking forward to seeing you at NPK
Thanks for the update 👍
Hey John, love your videos. Will those headers work with angle plug heads?
Yes they do
Can you get those in a spread port man those are nice
Look at educated John with glasses lol I think your net worth just went up
LOL, the price of getting the grey hairs.....readers required.

Those headers match up to your D port design heads???
Not exactly, but they should seal. I could not find any d port headers. Would have to be a custom set which I cannot afford.
Break out the die grinder and clean up the slag around the pipes in the collectors.
Sugaring - Shorthand for carbide precipitation. The price is crazy for a stainless header.
Love the videos
You didn't have a Aluminum Block before maybe that's why you got away with not re-torquing the heads.
👍🏽🇺🇸👍🏽 good luck buddy
How long are the collectors
Looks like (Christmas Time) at Turbo John's house 😁😁😁
Except my pockets are bleeding money, lol.......Spent way more this month and last month than I should have.
Will the fit twins I in my 88 gta trans am Pontiac firebird
They fit in a mustang pretty easy, I think your strut towers are wider.
How do you mount the turbo?
LET ME GET THE OLD HEADERS!!! New ones look nice for sure!
Looks good John! If access to the inner bolts on the outside tubes is still challenging just add some additional clearance via a BFH.
Oh, you might want to take the headers to your machinist and have him check/square the decks on those flanges. Cheap headers are kinda notorious for the flanges not being square. Would hate to see you get it all back together and then have to deal with leaking headers at the head surface!
Niceness TJ!
Use in pinch John
Datswhatsup keep grinding 😎
Please buy some new exhaust tubing. eBay has cheap stainless. Less than $200.
😎
Are these actually turbo how does the turbo bolt up
These are the headers only, you have to finish building the kit.
@@TurboJohnRacing do you have the cut the strut tower area away to fit
Move the tranny cooler while moving weight
Those are the same headers I have on my engine.
Nice!!
John I’m going to send you an email of a very good header exhaust paint…
Use the Copper, Not the Cardboard header gaskets.
Nice headers. I think they will work better. Some guys cut the flanges where the Vis to help seal seal individually better
I think this is gonna make a BIG difference! You'll be crossing that finish line faster than you could blink! 🚗💨poof!
For the price and you say it’s stainless that’s a good looking header you can’t even buy that much tubing for that price. And just because it’s made in China shouldn’t mean a thing.
Racing cat¡!!!!!!¡!
Algorithm
1 st lol
DO NOT USE THOSE STOCK GASKETS. THEY BLOW OUT WITH IN A DAY OR THEY DID ON MINE
WTH Why not big block Ford parts 🤣
@@lsxtmt4910 They last 3× longer
Thanks!
Wow man, I really appreciate it......
Thanks!
Thanks anyway I'll help a little to support you. Good luck 🤞 the old drag racer lol
Thanks man, I really appreciate it!
