Not really. There was lots of fumbling in his left jacket pocket to get the loads, tugging on the pocket to get them out, and he flashed the last two loads. Look at 6:25 and following, you will see the flash. Shoddy work by Kaps.
@@felixkruse2699 Fair enough. I think if old Bram Bongers could review this now though, he would see there was room for improvement on the final loads section. He was a perfectionist, and this was not his best work.
@CaraBrimleyRules Can I assume you’re a magician? Laypeople don’t see what we see. You can get away with murder with a lay audience and the right direction of attention. This is kinda the reason why magic is really meant to be live and not for tv or film where you can’t go back and over-analyze things to death that you would never have noticed had you actually been sitting there in front of the man as a real spectator.

CaraBrimleyRules Agreed, he did fumble too much. But his routine on itself is great, with cups and sponge balls. I recommend you to watch this video of a young magician who actually surpasses Fred Kaps routine: th-cam.com/video/GBBzC0BgizA/w-d-xo.html
The piano music is dreadful on this. It's so plinky plonky and out of tune. It needs something modern to liven this up. Mind you, the final loads were pretty bad so in a way, it fits!
@@bobholt6217 No, Cara is right. 5:55 lots of fumbling around in his pocket to get the load. 6:25 more fumbling and tugging and he flashed the load. Not the best work by Kaps. Probably towards the end of his career. If he had seen this video, he would have been upset at his poor work.
@@PreservationEnthusiast He also broke one of Dai Vernon's rules: never perform the same sleight twice. I think if you load from the jacket pocket you should be standing and not always from the same pocket. Thats where he left himself vulnerable. The best, most creative, and magical demonstration of Cups & Balls!
Fred was the greatest magician ever, and Erroll Garner the greatest jazz pianist!

Some of it was technically poor if you know what to look for.
Qué bonita rutina!! Impresiona su limpieza y elegancia, por cierto muy interesante el texto de arriba. Un abrizo!
Gran limpieza si señor, un maestro.
I do the Cups & Balls and I'm confused...Beautiful
I know this trick (as every magician does) inside out and he got me multiple times fooled

It's out of tune.
That just gives it character!

It’s a classic jazz standard played by its composer. I’m pretty sure it’s just this damaged old video that makes it sound wonky.

when I can learn this trick of fred kaps ?
