    Hey, do you mind sharing what state are you in? What is the house footprint square footage, did you knock any walls or changed the layout before adding the 2nd story, how did that work with pulling permits for all of it, I guess owner/builders permit?

    • @LukeSoderling
      @LukeSoderling  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is in MN. The house was about 700 sq ft and we changed everything on the main floor with the exception of where the stairs were.
      We have land use permits here, we didn’t use any more land as we went up so no permitting required.

      No, not to start with. Once the second story was built then we could move back in.

    How do you know the first floor infrastructure is able to handle a second floor?

    • @LukeSoderling
      @LukeSoderling  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was well built and many 2 story houses were built with 2x4’s.

    I want to take off the roof on a mobile home. Any suggestions on how to just raise the roof to about 13 ft and have a 10 ft ceiling or maybe higher? Great vid, btw!

      I purchased an older double wide with 7'8'' exterior walls and I am really not content to leave it alone when I move into the house. My current plan is to remove the whole roof on the house and extend the walls up to 10' on the outside with a 4/12 pitch on the roof over the current 2/12 pitch. I will be using 2x12 lumber and doing a rafter setup across the top to vault the ceiling and with the current insulation being only 3.5 inches it will bump me up from an R11 to an R Value of around 38. Considering the climate i am in this will be a great cost savings in the winter on heating the building but also since it is only a 1000 sqft house i wanted a bit more head room so it doesn't feel so small on a dark winter day. Once i start the work i will post it on TH-cam
