    This is great interview with a fellow Filipino. It has inspired me to pursue my e-commerce business once again.

    Max's mindset, work ethic, premature wisdom, attitude towards his employees, and willingness to share his knowledge made this a very enjoyable episode.
    One thing I would like to see in your videos is a list of resources mentioned by you or your guests. For example, for this episode, the list could be:
    1. open store: a place to sell shopify stores
    2. _Breakthrough Advertising_ by Eugene Schwartz
    3. Sean Frank from Ridge Wallet: an interesting voice in the e-commerce space.
    Other than that, I have no recommendations. I like the videos just as they are. ❤

    This was really good information. I have several ideas for potential products, but I never thought to do a mock up and test the ideas first. Seems like common sense now that I think about it.

    Another brilliant vidcast. Please can you do a video on margins.. what good/bad margins look like.. how to price over cost, etc… cheers

    Another question: You set up a pre-sell website, got all your ads running, prospective buyers are trickling in and the numbers of pre-sales are growing. If financing production is needed, could you take that list of committed buyers to a bank to secure startup funding?

    I'm excited to start but I'm also gun shy cause I lost lots of money before. I'd really like to see a spreadsheet outlining general start up expenses (ie product cost, ad spend, software subscription fees, etc). Also, his validation process is interesting and I'd like to know more about that.

      read 12 months - 1 million book
      i have in my notes that all you need is a prototype + 100 quantity if possible and then test the waters by stacking the deck

    What a great interview👍🏼
    I have a question. Max said he makes a website and send the packaging to influencers and see if people convert to test his ideas but if product doesn't exist, how do you send the packaging to influencers? Does he send prototypes?

  • @krester3025
    @krester3025 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Great podcast! But one thing im confuse is did he send the prototype to influencer to make video and post to test the idea while also running facebook ads? How much does those influencer cost? Because $500 is clearly not enough to run both

      Hi! I’m Max’s girlfriend and lead the content creation/influencer marketing for the brands. We mainly did gifting in the beginning in addition to getting UGC since people loved the product!

    • @krester3025
      @krester3025 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@patriciaredulla oh so is giving the prototype to creator for free in return they create UGC out of it? Do they create just 1 video?

    The analogy of "rolling the dice 10 times, if you have a 10% chance on each roll to win, you're going to win at least once if you roll the dice 10 times, because 10% of 10 rolls = 1.
    This is true when each additional roll of the dice is affected by the prior rolls of the dice (which is actually not the case).
    Each startup is INDEPENDENT, normally, from past failures. It's nice to think that 'I failed 5 times, so startup #6 stands a much better shot at succeeding because of those past failures'
    but you can't say that. Each new startup usually has nothing to do with the prior product/startup you tried.
    This is why 'counting cards' in Vegas is such a winner compared to the poor odds of repeated attempts at new startups.
    Counting cards had improving odds with each new hand because the deck of cards was different for each game (shrunk in size as the cards from the prior hands got removed from the deck).
    Knowing this fact will help you (force you, really) to focus on anything you can take from a prior startup to the next attempt.
    EXAMPLE: you failed at 'socks for kittens' product startup, but you learned that cats are very independent-minded and remove the socks. You know where to get the socks, and you recognize "dogs don't have the same independent/aloofness that cats have' and you can win with a dog socks startup.

    === shared self notes ===
    5:00 When you roll the dice the first time the dice have 300 faces... the second time it has 200 faces the third time it has 100 faces when you hit it the fourth time it has 10 faces and now you know how to launch it so it falls on the right faces... you can cheat the dice. You can be smarter than the dice enough percent of the time so that people think you are being lucky.
    19:00 operate from a place of abundance, if you are in scarcity mode : you are blind to opportunities. ( really true ) ( I would dare to add that of course in poor countries some people still create business like crazy because their mindset sees opportunities all the time. but if you do not have that in you it's better to change your environment so that abundance mindset hits you )
    24:00 if you do not have a lot of money you can't roll the dice all the time so be careful about your burn rate and the cost of the opportunity.

    So for the $500 testing- is it set to CPC or sales? He says he stops at $2 CPC but also looks at profitability in sales and how many sales is he getting to validate?

    Hi Daniel,
    I've admired your work for a year and am now ready to start my own brand. I'm from the Netherlands but want to target the USA. Is it challenging for a foreigner to build an audience there? Do you think being non-local could be a hindrance?
    Thanks in advance.
