  • This is my attempt at a bass cover of the song The Drowners by the band Suede. Suede's bassist Mat Osman in my opinion is one of the most melodic and underrated bassists of the last 30 years. This song can be found on their flawless debut album - Suede.

I agree, Mat is underrated and a very talented bassist, very melodic and dynamic. He is one of the bassists that inspired me to play the bass, along with Peter Hook

This is fantastic! I wouldn't change the early suede records for anything but it's incredible to think there is so much bass complexity hidden in the mix. It definitely comes out more in songs like Heroine but this is amazing. Did you just work it out yourself or do you use a tab?

renegadechic yeah Matt Osman is talented. Worked this out by ear...cheated a bit by slowing it down. You can only trust yourself when working songs out. Cheers.

Great cover! Is the bass tuned 1/2 step down?

Guilherme Mello Hi yes I tuned flat for this, I think Suede regularly tune flat...maybe easier for Brett to sing, not sure. Thanks for watching.
