    I did the same thing with my daughter's scout Belt 2 years ago… she hated the extra length that was between the belt loops…. So I made her an extra "loop" to put the end of the belt through to hold it in place…. Cobra knots are so useful 😊😊😊

      @@TheWeaversofEternity yep! I’ve been teaching our scouts some new knots besides the standard scout knots…. They call me "the crazy knot lady." lol…. Got them all tying alpine butterfly knots and the prusik hitch now…. Had some of the kids trying to hang stuff up and didn’t know how to get it done… so I said it’s knot lesson time! I love the prusik hitch….

    I did this mod along with a cobra knot top handle wrap for my Tomtoc sling. It’s primarily a black bag, but has some red highlights, so I got some red/black camo cord from your store for the weaves. I love how it came out, I really feel like it personalizes the sling to me. I also added a fun bead on a tail at the end of the handle wrap for a little more flair. Thanks for the information and inspiration. Carry on.

    Great idea, Ive got a few old 5.11 packs that have knackered elastic retainers, I like to roll the excess webbing and tuck the whole roll into the elastic so I am hard on them. I had been thinking of simply sewing some fresh elastics on but will try some cord first, cheers.

    • @TheWeaversofEternity
      @TheWeaversofEternity  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sewing would be a great and more permanent option for sure, but the paracord would be a lot quicker and easier. Hope it works out either way! Thanks for the comment

    Great stuff thx!! I never thought of this one. I made use of a "soft shackle" when my umbrella had a breakdown recently, and remained half open bcoz well... It's old. And two times the paracord from deployable bracelets fixed broken bags, that breaks when u step off the bus. (Sharp edges from other packages cuts through plastic) Anyway, great upload thx!!

    Add some simple bandages and alcohol pads between the phone and the plastic protector and a ring made with wire, and you have it all.

  • @JimmyNewCakes
    @JimmyNewCakes 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The excess on straps is meant to be folded on itself 3-4 times before going under the elastic band. This keeps it short, tidy, and snug. The trick is learning how tight to fold the strap. Too tight and you end up with too much material under the elastic. Too loose and you end up with a mess of strap that looks like you haven't used an elastic keeper at all.
    I've run so many military packs over the years and these always have absurd lengths of straps, as they usually make sure they have and adjustment range to fit on the smallest soldier without body armor right on up to the largest soldier with body armor. Efficiently rolling the straps is critical to having your equipment stay looking tidy, though most will just end up using tape in the end once they've got a "set and forget" length dialed in...

    By knot definitions, it’s not a just a square knot, isn’t it more of a hitch?

    Every part of that bag is made using cord ... 🤯 depends how you like to tie your cobra knot.

    Don't forget to cut off all the length you'll never use, which is probably most of that, negating this problem in the first place.

    I've never called it a cobra knot, I called it a cobra weave. Because it's a weave, not one knot. Achieved with square knots. As for the bracelet, someone else can die on that hill.

    How bout you roll or fold the loose bit a few times and then push it under the retainer? #Simple

    • @TheWeaversofEternity
      @TheWeaversofEternity  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's another option for sure, but it would make that part of the strap very bulky. Also this particular retainer is very stretchy and loose, so it would still shift around a lot.
