    Good day, I just have a query about HP ink tank. What is the process of waste ink collection of this printer? Unlike Canon, Epson or Brother, they have a maintenance cartridge or waste ink box that collects the waste ink once they perform head cleaning. And what is the advantage of this to other brand? Thanks for the reply. More power

    thank you for this video! I appreciate the subtitles too, my earphones couldn't work well so I just read the captions, I'd like to ask is there a difference between 516 and 519? I'm about to buy one of them but I'm unsure of what to use

      Thanks for watching, glad you found it helpful, also I take no credit for the subtitles they are automatically generated by TH-cam :), really handy feature they have created.
      I have compared specifications both printers side from the HP website and I cannot find any difference in terms of features, both Printers are exactly the same except the color of the printer.
      You can check the HP links below for 516 and 519 specifications:

      Smart Tank 519 - support.hp.com/emea_middle_east-en/document/c06336508
      Also feel free to read through the other questions I have answered around paper jams and ink clogging up if that is a concern.

      Hi, thanks for watching. Till now I haven't had any major issues or errors, except having to restart once on a random light and some other issues which I have highlighted in another video about error codes and possible fixes. It still prints fine after almost 18 months and my print load is low. I would still recommend checking what else is out there and comparing before committing to buy as the paper handling on this printer is not the best. Hope that helps, let me know if you need any other info.

      @TKsTechTalk  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DanielNIS You are welcome. Check my other video on issues but in short sometimes the printer doesn't take paper in properly when printing, which I found is better if you use more paper and make sure the blue slider is always against the paper as it seems to move with vibrations sometimes. Also make sure you select the correct paper format in your application assuming you use different layouts like A4 or letter. Hope that helps.

    Hi. Can I use any ink? Do the print heads cartridges ever need replacing? Thanks.

    • @TKsTechTalk
      @TKsTechTalk  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Thanks for watching. As far as the inks are concerned, they do last a long time depending on print volume, after almost 2 years my black cartridge is at about 50% and all colours about 75% full, though my print volume overall is pretty low, can't say exactly how many pages but would say around 400 to 500 mixed colour and black prints with a few photos full A4.
      The print heads I think will require replacement especially with low print volumes, after about 12 to 18 months i started to notice banding in my prints, its a shame to be honest as i think the heads are about 30 to 40% of the cost of the actual printer. I know this is a budget printer but I still think this tech needs more development, this type of issue might be less with a higher print volume, unfortunately thats not the case for me.
      Hope that helps, feel free to ask anything else.

    Hi, HP inktank 419 or smarttank 516, which is better? I am a moderate user, maybe 50 sheets per week. I need good quality scanner and copy too. I had already booked 419 online. Shall
    I stick to it or buy 516?

    • @TKsTechTalk
      @TKsTechTalk  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, Thanks for watching. So I did a quick comparison of the two printers and the 516 is a bit more expensive than the 419. The two notable differences where that there are more nozzles on the 516 and the 516 has a 800mhz processor as opposed to a 360 mhz processor on the 419. I'm not sure how much better that makes the 516 but its possible that printouts might be very slightly better on 516 though i doubt there will be any noticeable difference. The paper input tray is also larger at 100 vs 60 pages, print speed appears comparable and so does the scanner. The 516 has a 18000 page capacity tank for black vs 15000 on 419, again i dont think this is a major concern. As i have never seen or used a 419 i can't say for sure that the 516 will exceed it for your usage but if any of the above is a concern for you perhaps shell out the little extra for the 519. Hope that helps.

    what are the cartridges for? i thought this printer uses ink tank, do i need to replace the cartridges also?

    • @TKsTechTalk
      @TKsTechTalk  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Thanks for watching. The ink goes in the ink tank as you said and those cartridges are the print heads which the printer uses to deliver the prints. It's good that they are replaceable it will be easier to just change the head if something goes wrong rather than pay for an expensive repair or replace the printer. However we will have to see going forward exactly how easily available they are and if they are reasonably priced. Hope that helps.

      @TKsTechTalk  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      HI, Thanks for watching. One thing I found with paper jams is that if I use only a few sheets of paper the printer is more prone to paper jams. To overcome this problem I made sure the paper tray was more than half full and this seems to have reduced the paper jam issue. How much paper are you putting in the printer?
      One more thing I can suggest is that maybe try thicker paper. I haven't tried this yet but normal A4 paper weight is 80gsm maybe try 100gsm paper and see if that helps.

    How frequently I should use them to stop printhead jamming?Will it work perfectly if i use it for 4-5 prints/week!

    • @TKsTechTalk
      @TKsTechTalk  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As you can see from my unboxing and setup video I have only had the printer for about 2.5 months. With this in mind I can't really put an accurate volume which would stop the print head from clogging up but what I can say is that I am definitely not printing as much as 4-5 prints per week and it is still fine so far, from other videos I have watched and things I have read on the internet, generally 4-5 prints per week should keep it from clogging and again all I can say for now is time will tell, we will need 6 months to 1 year to really know if it is an issue.
      One more thing I would like to add if you haven't already bought this printer is that, I have had a few issues with paper jams and I have a friend who has the same printer and reported the same, so this might be something to think about.
      Alternatively if you want to reduce the risk of paper jams and ink clogging in the heads, my friend who has the HP, previously owned the Canon equivalent for about 3 years and only then experienced print head clogging and less paper jams, so maybe the Canon equivalent (I believe the current model is G3411) may be a better option, as I believe the Canon has a self clean function, which periodically cleans the head itself assuming the printer is left on (at least that's how I think it works). I can't comment on the Epson equivalent as I do not have any interaction with it but as far as I know the HP does have replaceable print heads but the Epson doesn't.
      Thanks for watching and I hope this helps.

So far I haven't had any issues but I guess we will only know the impact after 1 year of very little printing. What about auto duplex and manual duplex, how it done for 10 pages?

    • @TKsTechTalk
      @TKsTechTalk  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Thanks for watching. According to the HP site Duplex is possible but only manual duplex is supported.
      I haven't personally tested it but the video below describes how the manual duplex function works.
      th-cam.com/video/rzKBuHJNbso/w-d-xo.html
      For 10 pages (I'm assuming this means 5 pages double sided) it will print 5 pages, then you reverse the pages and put them all back in and it will print the remaining 5 pages on the backs of the first 5. At least in this scenario it only requires 1 flip but I can't say how long the printing time is and naturally this varies based on content of each page.
      Hope that helps.

  • @JoJo-vm8vk
    @JoJo-vm8vk 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    HP 515 is worst printter I ever had. You have to go trhough HP software to print PDF double sided.
    Even then, paper management is fucked up, you should better stay right by printer side while it's printing in case the paper exit is tucked.
    When trying to print manual double sided, when you try to re-insert in the paper feed the first part of the printing, something is damaging the paper and then it's paper jam inside the printer.
    Print quality is good, delivered with a lot of ink, you could easily replace print heads, but paper an print management sucks big time !!!!!!!!

    • @TKsTechTalk
      @TKsTechTalk  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching, yeah I have to agree they definitely could have done much better with paper handling. There are many reports of paper jams and one more thing I don't understand is why they don't have full support for the paper. When A4 sheets are in for a long time they start to curl at the top. Otherwise as you said print quality is pretty decent and ink life so far seems good. It's a shame about the paper tray issues, surely this should have been fixed by now with all the iterations of inkjet printers which have been released over like 20+ years now.

    i have the HP smart ink 516 printer, please guys no one buy it, its
    driving me insane, it only prints when it feels like it, it only
    connects to wifi when it feels like it, it takes a long time to print
    and to set up, it makes a lot of noise, not just normal noise, its like
    you put a piece of metal in a paper shredder, it has many connection
    issues, noise issues, app issues, worst purchase ever, i might get the
    Epson printer

      Hi, Thanks for watching. The link below has some help around this which seems to be that the cartridge may not be seated correctly or is faulty.
      Check the section for 'Ink/Printhead light, Alert icon, and one or both Printhead icons blink' at the link below:
      support.hp.com/in-en/product/hp-smart-tank-500-all-in-one-series/23394952/document/c06266190
      Hope this helps, let us know if you are able to solve the issue.
