    Nice, could you please, when you use your scope, explain/describe in details the settings for the scope, every time you use it? 🤔

    • @AutomotiveDiagnosis
      @AutomotiveDiagnosis  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I will try to make a video only for setting up the scope, but generally the voltage level and timing to see how many waveforms you want to see on the screen are the most important ones.

      Hi my friend. For this video I used Kia GDS software which is actually KIA's previous OEM scanner's software. You don't need to but the device, software itself works perfectly and it covers Hyundai vehicles as well for wiring diagram and workshop manuals. For other cars, I try to get the diagrams from my friends in dealerships. I also have many of them collected over the years that I've been doing this job. There are many websites or companies offering the diagrams for some money, but I hardly trust them. Some of them also offered me to promote their websites here on the channel, but honestly I can't do that as I know how they may rip you off! I am trying to make all of my resources available for you guys for free on our website. I am just looking forward for an opportunity to get them sorted and published.

    I ENJOY WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS. I WAS A LITTLE CONFUSED ON THIS ONE. ON THE WIRING DIAGRAM IT SHOWED A SIGNAL CIRCUIT AND A GROUND CIRCUIT, BUT WHEN YOU TESTED THE CONNECTOR WITH A DVOM YOU GOT 2.5 VOLTS OFF OF BOTH CIRCUITS. WHAT AM I MISSING? WHY DID YOU GET 2.5 VOLTS ON THE SIGNAL AND THE GROUNG CIRCUIT? THANKS FOR ANY INPUT.

    • @AutomotiveDiagnosis
      @AutomotiveDiagnosis  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi my friend. Those two 2.5 voltage were on a disconnected connector where sensor was not doing anything on it. Sometimes when connector is disconnected the amount of voltage is going to be a little different as ECM detects this situation as well. Bu as soon as you connect the connector or when engine is running everything is different. I always try to present all steps recommended in workshop manual too just to make sure whatever we are measuring is exactly what we are supposed to.

    I would like to say thank you so much Sir for your videos we have been learning new things every day, but I have one question please which type of software you are using to read wiring diagrams it's really fantastic tell me please i want to buy it

      Hi my friend and thanks for your comment. This car was a KIA, so I used KIA & Hyundai GDS which is their previous OEM scanner's software. You don't need to buy the scanner itself (it's very cheap though), the software itself works perfectly and provides the diagrams and manuals.

      @@OmariBwagizo It's for KIA and Hyundai

    • @AutomotiveDiagnosis
      @AutomotiveDiagnosis  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@OmariBwagizo I haven't tried it recently. There is no software to cover all cars, Alldata covers some of them, you might be able to try it for a while to see what the coverage is like for those cars you are interested. I am more interested in OEM wiring diagrams, which of course is not easy to find. There are some other websites selling the diagrams separately that I don't really recommend!

    Great video . but this sensor is a permanant magnet which produces its own AC voltage . Should it not read any voltage you got 2.5v? and engine was not running.

    • @AutomotiveDiagnosis
      @AutomotiveDiagnosis  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi my friend. That 2.5 v was just a reference voltage provided from ECM. The voltage generated by the sensor itself was shown on the waveform.

    Or, connect diag machine, check engine rpm value, run engine, watch for proper correlation - if it's wrong/off, pull the sensor & check the tip first before diving into wiring - being a Hall type sensor, any slight damage or build-up on the tip will cause it to fail. Where it sits, it's easy enough for debris to get mashed against the sensor tip by the rotating crank.
    That way is simple, fast, straightforward & works well. If the sensor is undamaged (usually you'll see that the tip is mashed if it isn't reading) then you can dive into messing with the wiring, but 9 out of 10 it will be physical damage not wiring. Same applies for cam sensors - it's usually just the tip. :-)
    All hall-effect sensors will fail to work if there is even small damage to the sensing area - by their nature, being so close to fast rotating parts, any crud that gets between that gap will ruin the sensor. A lot of money has been wasted by a lot of people over the years, trying to fix baffling faults that would have been avoided just by pulling the crank & cam sensors & doing a visual inspection. Zero tech required, not even a multimeter.
    Applies to abs sensors, crank sensors, cam sensors - check the output value against expected, using scanner - then go look at the tip. Easy peasey way. Saves a lot of mucking about.
