This is a great way of simplifying something that feels so complex. I had bought your excellent book, but it never occurred to me that the line of balance could apply to fire. Thanks.
After watching your fire-Flames and drawing water, going back to your drawing workbook makes me want another new book you might create. Love your stuff.
I looked at fire for awhile to understood HOW the flames came about. Like that S shape followed by a Larger more elaborate shape, but I failed to vary it. You kinda showed how to do it. Thanks for the video!
This was really helpful I'm designing an anime character and his name is satsuma as there is an old saying if you name something after a battle ship it will have great success, satsuma has galaxite a power he can not fully control it is fire but he can control the temperature and make portals thank you
Woah! This is amazing! I've been looking for videos of how to draw flames, clouds and eyes for a long time now~ Seriously, where have you been hiding? :P Anyway, nice work! This is really inspiring^^
I'm still combing through your massive library, and this one is definitely one of my favorites, long with your water and reflection ones . Do you have any similar videos on drawing lightning or other weather phenomena ?
This was very helpful, but I have a question So, let’s say I was drawing fire that was spiraling up a pole, how would I draw that? Does anybody have a video that they would recommend?
Roughly Draw or sketch an outline of a swirl along the pole to get an idea of where you want it to be and what position it should have, once you have the desired position and range of the swirling, start with some rough shapes at least a few centimetres above the swirling line to basically decide on the base and body of the fire. Once you have marked all that, draw them all (reccommended not in a straight line due to the nature of fire never being symmetrical nor parallel but it all depends on your style ofc XD) hope this helps :D
@@thenabj5905 Thank you so much! I originally needed this for an assignment I was doing in my art class, but nobody responded and so I figured it out on my own, and boy, was it a pain. I just tried your method and it is so much better than my previous method, thank you!
+Alphonso Dunn What about drawing flames at varying distances or perspectives? I live in Washington State, right in the middle of all of the wildfires, and I would like to document them in my visual journal...

Just draw and dont think too much. Once you have a foundation your mind will make the necessary adjustments
