    We have all felt the pain over your transmission a relief to those of us that feel a part of your life.

      Thank you! It is such a relief that it is running and may need a few more bits and pieces spent on it, but not the extreme that we were told initially!

    I am going to try vacuuming with a hand held. I used this to rid my citrus of those horrible beetles. Good to hear about the car.

    Seeing those strawberries and raspberries really made my heart sink and more importantly realise how brittle of a climate you have over there! Even in our 3 months of no rain summers with very sporadic watering like once per 10 days, the strawberries thrive and multiply. Certainly the clay soil and dense planting help as well but still. OTOH you have a way longer growing season so I suppose your plants have ample time to "make up" for their growth being halted.
    Interesting to see how will that impact raspberries. If they don't set good floricanes, they don't fruit much. And primocane varieties should be flowering now/soon for an autumn harvest. So hmmm, keep me/us posted :)

    • @OurSmallFootprint
      @OurSmallFootprint  ปีที่แล้ว

      This is the first year we've had decent growth and I believe they're primocane, though some came back from previous years plantings that I thought had failed and I don't know, so no, I think no fruit this year and I'll have to do better next year. The raspberry bed is on the grey water line, so if we can get that fixed up then they will get watered every day once that is done, the grey water is spread between all the fruit trees/raspberries/strawberries, so they get some water every day (everyones bath worth, so a decent amount, but not enough to kill them).
      Yes, things swing so hard here, that is the issue, from flooding to 39 degree days, the soil even with mulching and good organic matter doesn't hold water anymore etc. I'm leaning back towards setting up some wicking beds, I really wanted to do in ground beds, more gardens per sq m, etc etc. But its just not working for us :S

    Hi Nyssa, You are an amazing person💖.
    I love your Sunday catch up and I am glad to hear your car is going again💜. I love seeing your watermelon it is looking great. I can't wait to see your grey water set up, when it's all up and going, as I would love to eventually start to water my veggie patch with grey water instead of my tank water.

    Yay! the car running is a big plus, Maybe you can get the gray water going to save those fruit trees. It will be neat to hear about your Mothers visit. It sounds like some very busy times for the family. So happy for the one watermelon! Bless your up coming week and stay cool. TFS!!!

      We are just working on more of a schedule that shows each child what is expected of them to accomplish within their week, trying to give them some autonomy on how much they do, a lot of project based learning and small workbooks! We're doing a lot of review atm, and we'll move onto new skills over the weeks ahead :D

  • @carolynrose9522

    Fingers crossed the transmission will not need any further workings. Phew. Do you check out the costs of the items your shopping for b4 you go at the various stores you plan on visiting? I know Costco only have their 2 weekly specials and others that you find in store when there. I check the specials at Woolies and Coles each week to see if any items are on special we normally use. Different for me cos shops so close. Planning on Costco this week first time in 8 weeks though - they are not close by. We do have a no frill bulk type store but I was put off as their costs were not that great. Thanks for pointing out the naughty ladybug. I have some mystery (butternuts I think) coming up by themselves so hopefully they will amount to something. Still waiting for a ripe tomato on my few plants I have. The cover came off my strawberries and the birds got them. Starting to produce more now. I have a few beans just forming. Just picked some plums we had under netting, shared with a neighbour and eating them. We are waiting on nectarines to soften up a bit more. Not much else ever amounted to anything. Got a few extra tomato seedlings happening. Have to gather celery seeds and as for the parsley I've just let it go mad. Good or bad it will come up everywhere. Dug up raspberries last year because they never fruited after 4 years but I see I have them sprouting up in various places. Potatoes are a shortage in stores here. Hopefully I can get some at Costco. I have potatoes growing but way to early for them. Sorry for going on and on.

      Your garden sounds like its giving you lots of little bits and pieces of everything, which isn't a bad way to be! Sometimes when you get a glut that makes it hard to get it all used! :D
      I do try and check the specials, obviously I can't just duck out, but I can send some things to my mums place click and collect if it is a really good deal. I don't always check them though because the budget is so that the grocery shops are all sort of budgeted at once, and if I spend too much in those inbetween weeks it can cause some ripples to the whole budget, but also I sometimes get frustrated because the stuff I want is on special when I'm not going to be there lol. The butcher is the worst! I follow on facebook and see their weekly deals and go Argh! hehe.

      I'd imagine the one you see a lot in these videos would be my left forearm cause I hold the camera with my right, I'm guessing here without going back lol, up near my elbow, its the chinese year of the pig :). I have collected pigs (ornamental etc) since I was a young kid, found out I was born in the year of the pig and then Surreal, my eldest, was also born in the year of the pig, so it felt apt! hehe :)

    Heya 😊 where do you get your lug lids from? And is there a few standard sizes you tend to get? Thankyou!!!

    • @OurSmallFootprint
      @OurSmallFootprint  ปีที่แล้ว

      Pack My Products, Green Living Australia, Cospak, Plasdene, all sell lug lids :). 63mm is a fairly common size for 250-500ml jars from the supermarket, 82mm is a common size for 1L jars (My Ghee jars are all 82mm, so are the salsa jars you buy in the supermarket and the Blueberry jam from Aldi). Passata jars have a couple of diff sizes depending on the brand from 38mm I think through to 53mm. I like to have at some of every size so that I can figure out what size a specific jar takes, but I do tend to have a lot more of th e63mm and 82mm ones :)

    Looking for to seeing the canning vlogs, I brought myself a pressure canner for Xmas, I’ve been using my friends one for a while 😊 just trying to get more jars 🫙 the folwer ones are hard to find in Tas or people won’t a pay check for them lol

    • @OurSmallFootprint
      @OurSmallFootprint  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's strange with fowlers jars isn't it, sometimes they run so cheap and then they go through cycles of being outrageously priced! I know a lot of people use lug lid jars in their pressure canner as well, I haven't as yet, as I just haven't needed to, using lug lids for water bath so I can use my fowlers and ball mason for the pressure canning.
