Excellent! Not only the design and the execution as a model, it also works to demonstrate the force vectors and the correct stance for real archers. Even the loosing of the arrow happens as it should. Very nice. I hope you don't mind if I would build myself a copy of this - of course I would mention that is your idea.
No prob at all! Go for it, but expect an awful lot of fiddling and fettling to get the action to work! Just about every part gets built twice and the control rods have a series of holes where the connect to the cam, each hole giving about 0.5mm extra rod length for adjustment. One cam ended up with a couple of hole positions too. There's a lot of permutations and combinations before you get into the relative positions of the cams!
Mr. Hutchinson, this is so clever, you must be part elven toymaker/clockmaker. it gives me joy to see some of this old school tech is still alive. great job! i nearly forgot, next week i'll finally have an indoor bowyer workshop, i still have those warbows, i also aquired yet another yew stave, so when finished will have the elm, and two yew bows. i really need a tillering setup similar to yours, so holding till i have a wall to mount it.
I've always imagined and automaton to have complex mechanism. This one looks so simple I thought there were going to be a bulk of gears behind that board. This would make such a fun an interesting toy for children to learn about gears and stuff. Great job
Derek that is brilliant, would you consider doing some plans so I could have a go making one, I shoot trad longbow as a hobby..... Excellent work mate👍👏👌
No se trata de que explique el sistema sino de la capacidad mental para crear eso... escomo una estrella en el universo..... y. Para que encuentres otra persona igual....😐🤔
Not only great engineering, but nice proportions on the model. Keep up the smooth and beautiful work!
Wow, Derek. The movement on him is so perfect. I can see you still have a ways to go finishing him, but the mechanics and motion are right on. Bravo.
a wonderful little masterpiece, well done sir I am in awe
Such a range of movement from a fairly basic mechanism, pure engineering genius 👌
I've seen many awesome automatons, but that one is simply impressive, congratulations
That is the coolest automaton I have ever seen. Love it.

Sounds like a lot of fun. ;-)

This is so wonderful, wonderfully designed with such simplicity and perfection.

Thanks :-) ... as an archer I could really think about the motion and try to keep it simple. As an engineer simplicity has always been my watchword.
@@delcat8168 it shoots well too. What do you use for the bow string? Does it shoot accurately all the time?
This is so awesome! 😃
PS: Who is here from JK Brickworks? 🙋♂️
I am
Lol me!
me
Yep, brickworks got me here...
Me :D
Omd this is as gorgeous and genius as it is simple, I am deeply impressed!
Its technically a weapon and a work of art. Now i want to see a really big one
A true work of art! Bravo!
This one automaton should get you into the celestial kingdom, worlds without end.
well this is just ridiculous, just amazing
You áre an genius!congratulations Mister ,
amazing job!
Outstanding! Your an inspiration. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
¡Excelente! ¡Muy bueno! ¡Felicitaciones! (saludos desde Buenos Aires, Argentina)
That's absolutely amazing!
Derek that is brilliant, would you consider doing some plans so I could have a go making one, I shoot trad longbow as a hobby..... Excellent work mate👍👏👌
Your are great grand pa...
Incredible engineering.
could you make a full video of making an archer automata? please
No, sorry... there is a video of the prototype
Fantastic work.
Amazing work! Thank you for the inspiration
WHAT!? INCREDIBLE
Amazing work
wow!!! my mouth dropped! this is epic!
It is fantastic work ! Very good idea ! I will try to make archer how this ! 👏good work!
very unique!
nice job
amazing mechanism
HA!! This is wonderful stuff!!
Just Brilliant!
great work Del
Parabéns, uma obra de arte.
This is exquisite
Very clever, thanks for sharing.
Bellissimo! Magnifico! 👍👏👏👏👏💕
very underrated
Shelly says can you make him one!
also such an aestethically achievement !!!
Beautiful

Wow😮
This is amazing!
Bravo..
Wow!
Super
very cool thanx *o*
Neat!
