There I was catching Def Comedy Jam in 1992 on cable for the first time and out comes Bernie Mac. I was laughing so hard, I almost woke up my six year old a couple rooms away. Bernie (at the time 35 same age as me) was part of a wave in your face and hold you by your skull (metaphorically) old school from the gut expressivity we heard growing up during 1960s. To see him excel and flourish beyond Def Comedy Jams rise into feature films and his very own TV show was fantastic!!! It was a sobering reminder when celebs around the same age die before you do, how precious life is. As the nearly blinding golden light shone through pearly gates, Bernie was ready to belt out one last "I ain't scared of you m...", but found it wasn't necessary as Pryor, Foxx and Harris approached him.

Back in the early 90's I was a member of a social club that gave parties. We gave a Valentine's day dance which featured a comedy show with 3 local comedians from Chicago, I was the mc that night and had the pleasure of introducing Bernie Mac to the crowd. A highlight of my life to this day! Oh Bernie shut it down!
One of the greatest routines ever. I would have hated to come on after this. Punchlines, timing, delivery, creativity from the first second until the end.
