I built the original version of this kit way back when it first came out and it was a blast back then. They've fixed a lot of things on the one you have so it will be even better. Having a huge Millennium Falcon around the house never got old!
I agree! The last time I had a millennium falcon in the house is when I was eight years old when I got the Kenner millennium falcon when it was first introduced back in 1978 lol definitely one of my favorite ships! Thanks for the comment!
@@darthvaydr From George. Pleasure. I love to see other people's builds gives me ideas for when I get the chance again. The Falcon is a great looking ship the amounts of details is incredible. Back in the day I was in a rush to put it together. If I had that model untouched and in good condition it be worth quite a bit. But who thinks of that back in the day.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️
Great job with this. I'm going to be starting on this model soon. I built and painted the finemolds 1/72 scale one about 6 years ago. I've wanted to do this one for a while though.
Thanks! It was a very enjoyable build even though it took quite a bit of trimming work. I hope you enjoy your build too! Thanks for watching and good luck!
Where do I find it? I just found my old ERTL kit from the 90s. I was thinking about putting it together but remember from back in the day guys were selling different side panels to make it more accurate
Very nice build and customization! I have this model too, which I bought in 1978 or 79 and I've refurbished and updated it, especially in the back engine panel. I painted the clear plastic panels blue and used lights to shine through to simulate the engines.
Really enjoyed your video. I like watching different people's approaches to taking on this kit. I have this kit myself and I'm using it for practice before I take on the Bandai perfect grade. I had the original MPC Falcon as a kid and now it's so nice to have this upgraded version to enjoy too. Wish it was more like this version when I was 11!
Thanks for the comment, Sean! Yeah, I’m right with you about one of those Bandai kits. I would love to have one of those! I hope you enjoy building your falcon! It was truly a lot of fun!
I built this model in 1980. It was quite a sight at the time. It did originally come with the two battery built in compartment and two bulbs back in the day. The updated version looks great looks a lot better With the details all around can't remember if the original had decals maybe less smaller sheet. I noticed that they did not upgrade the extra two landing gear buys under the forward sections of the underside. The window frame is missing two extra frame bits on either side. Just something i noticed in pictures. Otherwise a Job well done it looks pretty much like a studio model. I haven't bought this yet but i shall soon. The light work is great also gives life to this wonderful detailed model. I don't have much knowledge putting a light kit together. I may have to shove in some ready battery powered Christmas lights.😄😄 Plenty for the rear engine lighting. Well done superb. Hope to see the Darth Vader Tie Fighter build. George from down Under.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️
@@darthvaydr hello. Yes I do have the Falcon I built back in 80s. Unfortunately I didn't take good care. I thought I did a good job at the time but looking at it now it's in a sorry state. Parts have broken off landing gear busted and missing parts the battery pack don't work. It's simply a hull with bits lost. Not sure if it can be restored. I used different sprays and way too much over weathered. Not a very good job at all. But I'd do much better with the updated version now. What you have done is a super job on that model. The same happened to models of Darth Vader Tie I had and an X-Wing original releases all damaged. Bad work back then. Lately I have the upgraded Darth Tie and also replaced X-Wing and have several of the 1/72 scale X-Wings and one 1/48 scale Fine moulds kit. Oh yes plenty of Tie Fighters three different sizes but not the new AMT 1/32 scale Tie. Still to buy. I have also six 1/72 Y-Wings love that one more because it looks like a racing car with big engines and loads of details. I hope I can buy the reissued Falcon. It looks fantastic. All the best from down Under.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️
Very nice! I wish you could have added the landing lights you initially thought of adding! Those woukd have given this model an even more impressive look displayed on a table or shelf. Nice

It takes a lot of confidence to do that build over a shag carpet! SO MANY odd-shaped tiny pieces that can jump off the table, never to be seen again.
I dropped several small pieces that I had a hard time finding, but luckily I found them all lol
Dude! That looks great! Congratulations. 👍
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Phenomenal build!👌🏽
Nicely done sir. I have this in my closet waiting.
Thanks! You’ll have a lot of fun building it!
There's so much aftermarket stuff for these, the rabbit hole is simply insane.
Yeah, I’ve seen some of it. I wanted to keep this as close to stock as possible. I would love to build one of those Ban Dai kits lol
I'd rather have 3D printable files.
Where do I find it? I just found my old ERTL kit from the 90s. I was thinking about putting it together but remember from back in the day guys were selling different side panels to make it more accurate
I'd love to find the printable files, but as of yet I haven't been able to find anym
I would've liked to have been able afford to get the Ban Dai kit, but this will be more than satisfying to me!!

Thanks for the message, George! Just curious if you still have the model that you were originally built?

I wish I would have done that too lol I was so excited about the build that the landing lights slipped my mind by the time I closed it up 😫😫
Cool 👍 Now I'm painting my model.
Nice! Good luck! If you make a video to post, please come back and let me know so I can check it out!
