the fake heads that Sav and Jack wore during the video represented the fake feelings that they had for each other in comparison to her and Dodie, which was real. there were also many red things - the red balloon, the red petals. this represents how toxic their relationship is. the balloon and the petals symbolise letting go, as she tried to get rid of both completely. there is also a red hat and that seems to be drawing her closer to Savanah although she knows her relationship with this girl is impossible and painful.
you could also interpret the usage of red as love. Dodie tries to let go of the love she lost but can't as she reunites with savannah at the end.

ok so after watching this literal masterpiece for like the 7th time in the past 12 hours i think i've come up with an interpretation that could potentially kind of make sense:
alright, so i've been scrolling through the comments and noticing that there's a bit of a dispute between whether or not the song is about the boy or the girl. after thinking about it for a bit, i think that "you" might actually be love itself, not a person in particular. dodie came to paris after a bad breakup (correct me if i'm wrong?) looking for an escape from love. however, as you can see with the lovely bobbleheads, there truly is no escaping love. jon's (?) bobblehead represents old, worn-out love that never seems to leave, and the girl's bobblehead represents the possibility of new, exciting love. it seems as though both types of love parade themselves in front of dodie, taunting her with a tough decision (to revert back to old habits or explore new possibilities of love). the red beret could be a symbol of uncertainty, as when the girl (new love) leaves it behind, dodie returns it and finally come face-to-face with a real person, looking happy and at peace (also, jon's bobblehead is no longer present, showing that dodie has moved on ).
sorry if this was long and didn't make sense oops but if you replace "you" with "love" IT MAKES SENSE WOWZA

ooh that's actually really really interesting, i was thinking that too. "i really hope i don't love you" would definitely make more sense in regards to an actual person, tru tru. maybe if you replaced you with love it could mean that she is afraid to fall back in love but her heart says otherwise, or maybe i'm just getting a lil ahead of myself. and YES to the second theory, the whole "new girl" idea kind of made me wonder. i guess we'll never know unless we discover whether or not the male bobblehead is actually jon but that could make lots of sense

What's really interesting about this music video is that it's not simple, it's not telling a simple story(well to me at least). You can interpret this in many many MANY different ways, which is something that I love about dodie's music and videos. You can interpret this as a girl who was heartbroken about a boy she once loved and kept seeing him around wherever she was, feeling upset and annoyed at the couple. She would see the girl as her rival and enemy, but as soon as she saw the two arguing(and breaking up it seemed) she realized she was human just like her and had emotions as well. You can interpret the ending of that either dodie falling in love with the girl or being friends, that's up to you. You can also interpret it as instead of dodie loving the boy and feeling heartbroken about him it could be the girl she was in love with and feel upset that she was dating this boy instead of herself. There are scenes which lead me to believe she was in love with her best friend(girl) and that she was upset that she became the third wheel in their relationship; the girl was no longer paying attention to her as she used to. But as soon as the two break up and the girl's hat goes flying off, dodie looks relieved and happy that she's no longer with him, rushing to give back the girl's hat. Either way, in any way you interpret it it's gorgeous, both the cinematography and story. I also love the idea of how childish this seems, I mean I feel like they're kids in a sense. I love the nostalgia factor this video brings and hope for much more content such as this! Incredible job everyone I loved it!!

my interpretation is that she is constantly reminded of her past relationship and it keeps following her around. i'm guessing the paper mache heads signify some sort of facade or something like that meaning they were both unhappy with the relationship and were hiding it. so when she gives the hat back to the girl, who is no longer hiding, she finds happiness again. hope this makes sense.

I haven't seen this theory yet sooooooo, I theorize that the paper mache head people are what she was imagining herself and another person doing. She didn't want to think about it anymore but the thoughts were everywhere she went. The end where she's smiling with the girl might not be a reveal of "oh she was wanting the girl the whole time" but more like she's willing to accept being happy with herself.

I dated this guy who I believed was perfect, literally like my brain formed him into existence (even though he's 30 and I'm 22, but whatever). After 3 months of dating he told me he wants to be non-exclusive, and I couldn't do it so we broke up. Two days later I hung out with one of my best friends from uni. I told him all about that guy and how hurt I was, and that I feel like I want to be alone for a while. He told me that guy was a douche etc etc.. really had my back and I was grateful. Next day I came to his dorm again, we were studying. Suddenly he kissed me. We started making out for like 3 hours, stuff happened. It felt nice and I was hurt so I let it happen, and I was sure he wouldn't hurt me, because he was my friend. 2 months of this happening, I started falling for him so I finally asked him what's going on with us (we never talked about it and I didn't want to make the same mistake of not talking like I did with the previous guy) and he told me that he's sorry he does things without thinking, that he should stay away from my body (apparently he's always so horny or I'm so irresistible that he can't be near me without sticking his tongue in my private area) and that we should be just friends. After he had my back and supported me, he basically did the same thing, but this time I was vulnerable. Conclusion: zero trust from now on. And I'm still hurt, and I'm still dreaming about him, which sucks. This was long, sorry, had to vent.
