Came for the bodywork, stayed for the great life advice
Life advice like abort your kids before they grow up like this clown?
Your videos are MUCH better than any of the car shows on TV. Thanks for what you do
I recommend checking Fluid Film for coating inside of the frame. It replaces moisture and it coats very well. It also never dries so if you hit anything and the frame bends it doesn't crack or chip.
I second this. My Volvo 940 has seen Norwegian salt roads every year since 1995. And the only spots that have been Rusty is the spots where the fluid film didnt reach or wasnt applied.
It has rolled 450000km. And im certain it would not be around today without fluid film.
Great tip! I gotta check it out!
@@PrizzaMikeFluid Film is great, but B'Laster has their own version called Surface Shield that's even better in every way - easier to apply, more flexible and durable with comparable protection. Repair Geek did a thorough comparison on his channel a couple of years ago
My Miata has a hole in the rocker and I use fluid film to prevent it from getting worse before I can weld in new ones. Love fluid film my step dad turned me onto it last year.
@@Fubbziesounds like a cool step dad!! Rare lol
Watching you working on your projects always encourages me to work on my project cars. Your videos always gives me an energy boost and confidence that I need.
hell yeah, definitely motivates me too
Bro so real, he's my inspiration of wanting to revive my crusty project car lol
I always run a painters tape border line on both sides of the seam seal especially where it is most visible then apply the sealer ,once brushed smooth remove the tape and it leaves a nice crisp straight reveal line . Just a tip maybe you can try you might like . As usual great work and video . Happy new year bud . 👍
Another prizza Mike classic. You’ve improved so much in the last year with your skills and attention to detail to cars. You inspire all of us to finish our projects!
Loving the crisp audio makes the video so much more satisfying
Got your never stop progressing hoodie for Christmas. Amazing, love it a bunch! And I’m glad to see that the Gloria is pretty much finished
Here’s to another year of great content, thanks Mike
Always a good day when Prizza uploads, great work on the car man! Motivates me to get out there and work on my speed3 :D
Absolutely fantastic job. I’m so impressed with the level of detail you have taken the repair to.
Hey i feel the same way building a car from the inside out is so much better and you gain alot of knowledge and experience from it too
crazy how much knowledge you spread with these videos!
Man I can't belive Nissan Gloria is getting closer to being fixed keep up great work Mike
I'm glad more people are finding this channel it's underrated
the cinematics and the short talking REALLY adds life to the vids! keep doing what you do best Mike!
Love the progress on the Gloria! Miss seeing Franzy and you working on the cars together, we gonna see yall working on a car again soon? Any new updates on her 240sx?
Hey Prizza i always love seeing one of your videos, i'm starting my first big project of LS1 swapping my 2010 Genesis Coupe. You've really been a huge source of information on what actually functions and what all i've learned from you has helped such as how to do brakes. Hope you have a happy new year and a great 2024!
you did a great job coating and protecting the new quarter. you've come a long way since i've first watched!
Mike is a genuine nice guy....
He has zero arrogance....
Mike is a teacher
13:40 - 14:19 -> nice bit of wisdom. Thanks Mike!
damn the new mic quality is super obvious inside of closed spaces. great stuff mr mike 🫡
Couple tips:
- Buy a tin of wax and grease remover - this cleans panels and will not affect paint / primer... you will be using this stuff all the time, the only way to guarantee you are removing contaminants.
- Smoothing out seam sealer - use your finger (in a disposable nitrile glove). Excess can also be cleaned off with wax and grease remover.
- sanding epoxy primer prior to seam sealer... buy a couple maroon scotchbrite pads, this will scuff the areas with far less chance of sanding thru edges / corners.
Great tips! Thank you sir
Ah, seeing the gloria come together is so satisfying. That seam sealer really makes me want to redo the external panel seals on our old VW van! Thnx for a great year full of good vibes Mike!
the new mic is an amazing upgrade, cherry on top feeling
When you were seam sealing it I would have put masking tape on both sides of the seam sealer so when you use that brush you can pull off the masking tape after making it clean and crisp!😎
Dude she looks amazing already. Your so close to being drivable, sick bro
Hey my name is Jordan Kazar and I just want to thank you because I have a Honda civic ex 1995 in my garage that has been sitting for years and because of your videos I’m going to start my very first project car
You could tape what your sealing on the two side smooth it out then peal back the tape then you'll have some clean lines
Mike I love your channel and content. Its nice to see what the "average joe" can do in their garage vs some of these channels that dont even really work on their own cars. Keep it up man
I do body work for a living and you're doing a great job. Panel fitment and welds look just as it should. A belt sander will help with grinding and dressing the welds in hard to reach areas. Some mini da 80 and 180 grit with some red scotch bright action after in grinded down areas will give you a smooth surface with minimal imperfections on the surface. A pack of acid brushes will be your friend when seam sealing. With some pressure you get less build up and get it deep in the seam. If you're trying to replicate a high build area do it on a second go after scotch brighting the original sealer. You do this to ensure the seam is sealed which is most important and the 2nd go is for cosmetics only. Masking for seam sealer in areas you can see helps keep it consistent and clean. Always unmask before it dries. If you don't want a hard line or brush marks wait till it's just about to start hardening and use a damp shop rag with lacquer and rub the edge of the panels/seam sealer with your fingers inside the rag. Try not to rub into the seam to much to avoid digging it out. Keep up the good work 👏 oh and also don't forget to seam seal around the gas door pocket.
You're gonna be an amazing dad with all your life advices, your dedication and your vibe brother
Dude that little heater brought me so much nostalgia, I had the same exact one when I was younger
A tip with the seam sealer is to apply tape on both sides left and right so when you press down and spread it over the panel after you take the tape off it leaves nice even lines.
wake up for the weekend and watch progress on the gloria? yes please!
We thank you Mike, for not giving up in every single situation you've found yourself in where giving up became an option. We're grateful for you
I didn’t expect to be getting a free therapy session during this video, but it’s very much so appreciated. I’ve been wanting to go drifting since I was 13-14, I’m now 24 and I’m slowly getting to the point of being able to go to an drift event with my own car and video and share with the internet. Thanks for inspiration to continue working towards that and
I'm not a professional either, but I usually just glove up, and use a finger to smooth out the seam sealer -- seems to work decently. If It's a really visible spot, I'll throw down some tape on either side of the seam so I can smooth it out well, and then just pull the tape for really clean lines. It's my understanding that you can apply nearly all seam sealers over primer (scuffing may be required), but not all seam sealers can be applied to bare metal.
OMG those wheels for the gloria are just sooooo perfect ! I loved the ones wich cames with the car but you are right : there is much better to do ! Can't wait to see on it 👌
@01:20 for All used wheels, PRO TIP: use a grey scotch brite pad pad (less aggressive then red) clean the mating surface of the wheels lip (where the tire bead seats) this will ensure that any debris that would prevent a solid seal to the tire is completely removed and you will have zero issues with leaks, do this for the back side of the valve stems mating surface as well... also use little bit of grease or Vaseline on the valve stems seals maiting surface prior to install. this will help ensure that there is no ripping or binding in the seating of the valve stem to the wheels barrel.
Use an acid brush for smoothing the seam sealer out! Taping around the sides of where you apply the seal also leaves a clean line after you pull the tape off!
Dude you're such a motivator to so many, including myself. Doesn't matter the time of year or weather, you get in there and make shit happen regardless of the conditions. Your work ethic and views about people and the world are something that a lot of younger guys need to hear more of.
"Thats what lifes about. Gathering experiences and sharing it with other's" PrizzaMike
Happy new year brother! Hope to see you trackside this year🖤⚡️🖤
I'm no mechanic of some sort, but as a mason, i do work with silicone, when doing bathrooms.
When working with silicone, we use water mixed with dishwashersoap, sprayed onto the silicone. That way, the silicone wont stick to whatever you decide to smooth out the silicone with.
Don't know if it's good to use on the seam sealer, but it would make it easier for you, to get nicer edges.
I will give you a tip... be careful where you drill and add unintended spot welds that were not origonal to the manufacturers intended dezine. Many point on a cars chassis are meant to flex under load, infact I also agree that its great to give your shell more rigidity! But... adding connections (welds) in spots that are meant to flex may cause problems for the chassis future from strain when it flexes causing more stress in other places rather than it being equally dristibuted!
Hey mike quick tip you can use an ice cube to smooth the seam sealer out after you have used the brush or a wet finger works but not as well as ice
Interesting! I've never heard that one before, gotta try it
Try to put painters tape on each side of the seem that way after your done spreading it you can peel the tape and it leaves a nice seem of seal.
Dude the new mic is awesome such a good upgrade for the channel
Past year has been ruff for me we found out my mom had stage 4 lung cancer and there's nothing they can do they tried treatments but they didn't work.... your videos helped me kill time while mom was taking treatments... it's tuff watching the strongest person I know waist away... thanks for the entertainment
I watch you because I thought it was so cool that you were able too take advantage of the situation and pretty much get paid for what you enjoy doing, I’ve been searching for my path in life, im 23 and I think I’m gonna just listen to what you said and just try my best to achieve goals like you have but in my own way. I wanna thank you you Mike, I may be some random TH-cam account but thanks anyways hope you know you at least reached out to one person with your advice and hope you have a happy new year
Also you should get an e36 (best car)
We use tape help with lines with fine paint brush it makes it look smooth and peel tape off of both sides of the seam seal.
Fixing the rust on my eclipse before it become something I don’t wanna mess with
bro fr its like the second you touched that brush the spirit of bob ross went inside your body, idk why but that part was so relaxing and hearing you talk about stuff was so nice
I seen Jimmy Oakes & Spoon do a seam sealer job on the red R34 which helped a lot.
Use painters tape to get clean outer edges of the seam, and they used gloves and just spread the sealer with their finger to have a consistent amount thoughout the seam.
The Gloria is lookin so good!! Can't wait to see it completely finished. And you moving on to your next project!!
51 machines is a Japanese You Tube channel I would highly recommend to you. They do amazing oem restoration work, and are currently doing an R chassis that looked like it was pulled from the bottom of the ocean. The quality of their work is top notch. Fab work, welding, seam sealing, and painting, are their specialties. Ive learned so much from them.
Keep up the good work! Love the channel.
Hey Mike. I've found your channel in January and I gotta say your videos influenced my life a lot. In February I've got my first car, and your videos teached me how to approach certain things like modifying and maintaining it. It's been amazing to have you explain things in your videos, and It was amazing following along your progress on your projects, and it greatly motivated me to wrench on my nugget as well. Your style of content shows a realistic approach into how to work on your own car, where it's not just like "oh I got this $5000 turbo" and "I just spent $10000 on parts for my 800Hp whatever", but showing how you can slowly and patiently piece together a car you want in a very passionate manner. It definitely motivated to dare to go out my way to push my abilities on working on my car and it's really the best feel ever. Thank you for everything you taught me this year, and I wish you have a happy new year. Greetings from Hungary!
Hello from the United Kingdom 🇬🇧. Love your videos. But may I just say one thing I would love to see a full set of matching wheels as it just looks so wrong you put loads of effort in to building your cars I just would love to see you put a full set of matching wheels 🛞. Keep up the good work and all the best for 2024 unfortunately for me I have nothing to celebrate as my beautiful amazing 28 year old son died a few weeks ago of a heart attack he had never taken drugs . So watching your videos has helped me to deal with the loss of my son as they are very entertaining and you should be very proud of yourself for what you do.
Take care Rich.
Applying a piece of tape either side of the seam before applying seam sealer and then brushing it smooth works well too.
@13:13 happy little clouds of seam sealer lol.
14:00 Mike really out here inspiring me, thanks man
you have done a really good job on that. most people would just strip it for parts and scrap it just think of all the cars that have been crushed because someone can’t see the potential. happy new year and good luck with you’re future builds
Yes, i'm commenting while watching 😂
The outter thing on your wiper arm, is for the interval in the first step. My Hyundai Getz has it too, and step 1 can be adjusted from 5 to 18 seconds interval.
Came here to watch you rebuild a beautiful car and got good life advice
The front rims are prefect, also im in love with the gray color
My '98 5-series was treated with Fluid film in 2008, and with no reapplications from the previous owner the car survived pretty well apart from the rockers as the oil got washed away over time. It requires some reapplication on exposed areas every once in a while but areas where it's away from water splashing it's solid still.
Car has been through every norwegian winter, 4-5 months of salt every year i'd say it's pretty decent.
Mike always droppin fire quotes and fire tips and knowledge. Appreciate you man, I find myself saving your videos a lot to come back for the great information. Also more integra stuff! 🎉Happy New Year!
A tac rag can also be used instead of a microfiber or alcohol. Home depot has them. Theyre sticky and pick up sanding dust etc. I use them then alcohol after to get a super clean surface
Man you are such an inspiration! The first time I ever welded was last month to weld my the frame on my dad truck and your tips really helped me when when I felt lost
Lay painter's tape on each side of the seam, then apply and spread the seam-sealer. Pull painter's tape of each side. = perfect lines for the sealer.
My resolution is to worry less, watch more Mike, and learn even more about cars. Here's to a happy 2024, Mr. Prizza sir! So glad I found this channel, and may all your hopes and dreams come true in the new year!
Glass cleaner can remove oils before primer. Or wax and grease degreaser 🎉
Mike really got bob ross like towards the middle, love it, even the philosophical part ;D
Hey mike hi all the way from ireland . Quick tip on the seam sealer . Run tape either side of the seam apply the seam sealer then whip off the tape when sealed while its still soft . Your left with nice straight sealer lines 🤙 keep up the good work 👌
Love how relaxed these videos are
13:42 Bob Ross moment right there: so calm and relaxing while holding that brush lol 😆🤙
awesome video and the positive vibes you spread
i love watching you work on your car and talk to us about life its so like inspiring mike, keep it up love the videos
Looking good man. Get yourself some red & gray scuff pads. Red is coarse grit & gray is fine grit. You can only do so much with sand paper. Scuff pads will allow you to get in almost every nook & cranny. Spray Max is my go to with 2k aerosol. Also check Permartex/Locite Rubberized undercoating for inner shell wells & chassis areas. Oh, next time out tape along both sides of where your putting seam sealer & just rub your finger back & forth to get rid of any air bubbles, then just take the tape off. You will even even seam sealer lines. 👍
How I do seam sealing is I mask up either side of the seam then I apply the sealer with a firm but short bristle paint brush sometimes I use a rubber glove and smooth it with my finger, also you can dip your finger in panel wipe and it helps to smooth it out 🙂
If you roll the end of the masking tape end on the paint it will prove less of the paint edge. rolling the tape will make it 10x easier to sand down the faded lip from the paint making it nice and flush when it comes to sanding.
wow broom so impressed with the work you do, the cars you have, the z is killer nice.i just started watching and im hooked!! happy new year dude
Good lord, those wheels gonna look perfect on the gloria, i actually thought you would buy something that would be the same style as these
I have been using urethane sealer on the floors when i was fixing a ford ranger, it becomes hard, but flexible, so it can move a little under stress
I last comment when you were on 20k subs, still watching the videos thought. Im happy for your growth man , congrats. Btw happy new year! 🎉
niceee!! progress!!
this week, i had a week off, and put it to good use, finished up doing the welding on my project car, shell is now ready for primer and seam sealer
For your future project, sometimes when you spray a paint to the tape as you did in the section next to door, it can cause hard edge that can possibly appear in your finish result, next time if I were you I would spray it on a bigger are so that the paint could have a good transition into the panel
On your seam sealer if you do it in the future put masking tape on each side of the seam you are sealing then after you brush it peel up the tape and it leaves a crispy line.
A good way to make seam sealer look good is to tape both sides of the seam, leaving a gap for the sealer, seal it, with a glove smooth it, and pull the tape while its wet.
Tape both edges of where the sealer is going to be applied then use a coin to smooth it then remove tape and it keeps it neat
Maybe use tape to outline on both sides of where u apply the seam sealer then pull the tape and then u got a nice clean straight line of seam sealer but still looks sick Man U got talent man
using your advice funnily enough to take notes because my wagon was rearended and on inspection it busted a seam on the frame, its still fixable, but just need to re-seal the seam, and thankfully you explain the process in *great* detail lol
ive been reflecting, and as always improving my life one year at a time
Dude!!!! That Gloria is sooooo sick!!!! I look forward every time you put out a vid to see where it's at.
Your videos inspired me to do some minor rust repair and body work over Christmas on my truck. Something I never thought I would have the skills to do. But seeing how you just learn by doing gave me the push to just do it. It didn't turn iut perfectly but it's way better than before and I learned a new skill and how to do it better next time. Much love, your videos are awesome 👌
In the coming new year I will complete the repairs on my 03 Mazdaspeed protege 👍 it shall be on the road soon! Keep up the good work Mike! Cant wait to see what you got in store for the new year!
If you tape each side and apply the shem seal and remove the tape perfect lines.
Nice work
Next time if you want tape both sides of the seam to create a track that way when you apply the seam sealer and spread it, and remove the tape afterwards you'd have nice straight seam lines without the extra smearing
Smashing the progress as allways! Love seeing cars come back to life, even more so ones alot of people would give up on. keep it up mike! love the videos cant wait for the next one!
Been watching ever since you was at the track not knowing what’s about to happen,I waited patiently every week for you to post and after a long wait you finally got it finished and I’ve been waiting patiently for months and months now just for you to stick abit of colour on it,please for me and plenty others put some colour on it and id be happy lol
Mike your such a inspirational speaker and person you inspire so many people to get more into cars to follow there dreams such as me keep up the good work man can’t wait to see what 2024 has to offer for us!
when using seam sealer use two pieces of tape on the sides of your seam so when your done spreading you can peel the tape back for a nice straight line. also use rubber gloves and use your finger to spread\
I agree with the building a car inside then out, I’d rather a function over form build tho, idk, sum about an old car with no clear coat and dents gaping a nice looking car
