Many things in this fanmade animation are not in the actual game. The reason spy 'died'multiple times is because he has a weapon you can unlock that let's you fake your death. In a way you can pick up enemy weapons, but only if you're their class and only if they died holding that weapon
9/10 times it's not worth it. If they shot at you before you killed them then you will need to immediately reload. The fastest way get a enemy to target you is to pick up a their weapon, not even kill anybody with it, a lot of people who have skins on their guns have personal attachments to it and will feel insecure if someone else is running around with their weapon.
@@Pocket_Crab Yes but it adds insult to injury to take their shiny weapon after you've already killed them. That or just go into the Frontline and be drawn into any shiny weapon just waiting to be stolen.
What did you just watch? History. There were a bunch of videos like this, they became popular before they had good tools to make videos in the game, and at some point Valve gave out the tools to make good videos... so people made the same kind of videos... You have to remember that there weren't as much competition on youtube back then. :D
9:17 Yes, you can actually! But only if said item matches the class you're currently playing. Ex., if an enemy Heavy is using a different minigun and dies, another Heavy can pick it up and use it in place of the one they had equipped. The world of TF2 honestly makes little to no goddamn sense and it doesn't even try to hide it, but that's why we love it XD This video's creator Crash Maul has a few other ridiculously good animations too. A fairly big chunk of time goes on between his uploads, but they're among the best SFM's out there! EDIT: Oh, and if you're wondering about the Spy's reappearing act there, that's the effect of one of the watches he can equip, the Dead Ringer. Most of Spy's watches briefly turn him invisible on a limited charge that builds up when they're not in use; great for making escapes or slipping to nearby corners undetected (although obviously you will still be seen if you get doused in something, bump into somebody or get set on fire by a Pyro). The Dead Ringer is a bit different in that it doesn't turn Spy invisible right away. By triggering it and holding it in that state, it will turn the Spy invisible and make him appear to drop upon taking a hit - essentially, it fakes his death (to the point where it even displays a false kill icon to the enemy's killfeed). You only have a short time before it wears off, though, and the sound it makes upon uncloaking is rather loud.
Another TF2 video you may want to look into is "End of the Line" by McVee. There's little to no voice acting in it, but it's one of the best animations in the TF2 community.
11:06 medic can make anyone invincible, as long as he heals people he charges his Übercharge, and you cannot simply shoot people from a far (unless you're playing as sniper or you got a random crit on a revolver) because of Damage Falloff
Can you pick up other people's weapons? In it's current version? Yes and no. Yes, if it's a weapon your class can equip. No, if otherwise. A lot of this is done for sheer entertainment. Back then it just gave you ammo on your current active weapon or Metal as the engineer. The can dropped on the scout here, is a Scout item called Bonk! Atomic Punch. It's a "weapon" that a scout can use in place of his pistol, to gain temporary "invincibility" (the game hand waves it has him moving really fast and visually shows it by making him a blur) and move faster. Obviously mixing Bonk! with the demo's alcohol makes you unstoppable. Obviously. The spy has an item called the Dead Ringer(the stopwatch) fakes a death(and even shows on the killfeed) when any damage is taken if it was held up. This was made back when the Dead Ringer was absolutely broken where you stay invisible for so long after feigning a death and you can recharge immediately after getting a large ammo pack while cloaked. It's been neutered ever since. The different appearance of the classes is why this game is aptly called a "Hat Simulator." Since you can equip various different "hats" to make your class' appearance have their own personality. There's a tonne of pop-culture references with the "hats."

As for why this video got so many views, it's because Rise of the Epic Scout was groundbreaking for its time, having been released only a few months after Source Filmmaker was publically made available. There was nothing like it in terms of complexity and scope, and it was the gold standard for SFM animations for a while. It still holds up decently compared to more modern animations, but it's easier to find things of comparable or superior quality nowadays (and of course it's a step down from Expiration Date, but then Expiration Date was made by a team working for Valve).
I might be late to the video, but I will explain how this video is the most viewed in quick points. 1. For many fans and non-fans of TF2 will recognize how epic this is. Even though you said this was unrealistic, it still portrays "badass" fighting. Too put it short, imagine deadpool but with no comedic relief and just all killing. 2. This follows a series of epic animations, with "Meet the Rabid Heavy Taming Engineer" being second, "The Fight for Sawmill" being third, and recently "Like white and spy" being 4th. These animation portray some of the best CGI base action that is some conditions better than movies, first person POV and what not. 3. This was all made by one person, meaning one singular man made these fighters who prove to be as powerful as most anime Protagonists and Superheroes, if not more in these animations But that is my two cents on this, Hope you notice MHGR and if possible pin this for said explanation.
Regarding the video's popularity; so SFM was pretty new to the public at the time. Much like the early days of stick fight animations, it was very impressive to see choreographed fights with the characters. Crash Maul has seen some *MAJOR* improvement over the years. Their latest video is actually amazing; not that I'm implying you should skip ahead. Also, as far as adhering to the game mechanics: some of the things shown here are accurate (like Spy's pocket watch letting him fake deaths), but liberties were taken. You *can* actually borrow dropped weapons if you're the same class. Usually you're just picking up their ammo, though.
The Scout's drink (the yellow can that fell from the Red Scout's hands onto the Blue Scout isn't actually caffeine. The object is described as "Water, Sugar and Radiation", which is actually more ridiculous than less. Nope, classes cannot steal each others abilities - a lot of things take place in these animations that are not true gameplay. There's a group of videos you might enjoy by DasMxD called ""IF TF2 was Realistic". BTW you missed a few seconds of video that take place after the Source Filmmaker Logo.
I forgot to mention the last TF2 video but you should react to the Tf2 comic dubs from Bearded Experience. In there is more canon story and can kinda explain what is TF2
14:30 The main draw is that this video's basically an action movie. That's it. Cool fight choreography, mixed with with the IP recognition of TF2 and using the gameplay mechanics to set up cool scenes and moments.
I reccomend watching those animation: -The Bolted Bohemoth -Live and Let Spy -The Red, The Blu, and The Ugly Its all connected episode and The animation is good because is from 1 of Good SFM Animator named "The Winglet"
That wasn't coffee that was Bonk. It is literally so sugar filled and radiated that it will liquefy your asophogas in one sip. In game it lets scout become invulnerable but loses the ability to attack.
Oh you poor fellow. Bonk is not coffee. Ingredients for bonk: water (radiated), isotopes (unstable), nutmeg, high fructose corn syrup, high density corn syrup treacle, dehydrated ultra dense corn solids, beef stock (irradiated) Source: collectable bonk drink tumbler from the steam merch store
Well the animations and plot idea is references to videogames and comics. The fact the animator takes time to creat a whole video coagraphy that goes for so long without repeating alot of the same animation is what I like about it. Crash maul has done sequels to this and the animation gets even better. I would reccomend checking them out. Battle for sawmill is my favorite, but you should watch Rabid Heavy Tamer Engineer since it is after this video in the Crash Maul tomeline.
9:24 you can pick up other enemies items in the game, BUT Only if you're the same class as the enemy who got bodied. The scout and engineer can both pick up pistols for example, but say there's a unique pistol like the pocket pistol exclusive to the scout on the ground? Only the scout can pick that up.
6:31 It's not coffee. It's water and sugar... And radiation. 30% more in the BLU version, but the RED version has isotopes. Also, everyone got the Heavy's treatment to become invulnerable via Medic's übercharge. takes a lot of time to charge up and only lasts a few seconds though. Also, you can pick up dropped weapons only if they belong to your class. The Scout couldn't have used the Sniper's shield or the Spy's watch/revolver.
9:16 basically yes, you can pick up other weapons in the ground that MATCH the CLASS that you are playing, for example, you can't pickup a medi-gun, wich is a weapons for the MEDIC as as SCOUT, you can only pickup SCOUT items
Well now that you've watched this I MUST recommend you watch the rest of the series; Meet the Rabid Heavy Taming Engineer, The Fight for Sawmill, and Like White on Spy.
3:02 eyeballing it here, but I believe the "vibrating head" is a reference to another SFM called "cocainum" where everyone was high on drugs after drinking from Scout's soda.
Yes and no you can pick up other peoples weapons but usually you have to A be the same class or B Pick up a gun that’s shared across multiple classes Example being the Panic Attack
Next, react to meet the rabid heavy taming engineer. It’s a sequel to this and it’s great, you’ll love it. And the reason that scout was given powers was due to the fact that bonk isn’t a regular drink, in game it technically makes you invincible for a few seconds. However he technically has the bonk ‘running through his veins’ now, and has its capabilities as a form of a superpower. The Scottish handshake whiskey is described to be “a broken bottle” which deals more damage than a regular bottle so he has both the passive of the Scottish handshake and bonk at the same time. Pretty wild.
reason that scout good resorected is the BONK ATOMICdrink is a radioactive energy drink made for scout soo the radiation +some other chemicals mixed with the alcohol so and made scout get revived
Medics do commonly stick around Heavies, but it's mostly new Medics. It's better to heal your team more evenly as you get Ubercharge much faster that way and there's not much point healing someone who's already fully healed anyway. Staying at a high point is usually not advisable, however, as you're open to Snipers who can still take out the Heavy quickly with a headshot (sometimes two headshots) unless Ubercharge is activated.
ok about the energy drink ingame it is made with ACTUAL CHEMICALS not the drink level but atomic level and that is the reasn it is called "Bonk! Atomic Punch" idk how that healed him but ingame it makes you being immune to being shot for a few seconds tho
The Medic can heal and make all the mercs invunerable, Its called 'Ubercharge' Ubering the Heavy can often be the right play, but it depends on the situation. Need an engineer to stay alive to keep the sentries alive to stop the push? Uber the Engi. Need to take out an Engineer nest with lots of sentries and Dispensers, Uber the Demo or the Solider. Ubering the Pyro to kill the players as they spawn. It all depends on the timing, What needs to be done, and whos around.
This is actually a fan made animation that's why it's a bit cheesy but it does show some of the items in the game like the dead ringer which allows you to feign your death as you see in the animation Also it is possible to get the weapons of other dead players but you need to be the same class as the person who died
This franchise includes super piss mixed with blood and electricity to make healing beams that regenerate teeth and people survive some sniper rifle headshots but not if the sniper looks down the scope long enough. I think radioactive supersoda and scrumpy can make you epic and heal you.
This game was never ever meant to display realism, nor was this animated masterpiece. The efforts Crash Maul goes through to produce content like he does in incredible, thats the reason its the most viewed tf2 related video
A side note, this video HUGELY references tf2, if you played the game regularly and understood all of its ins and outs, the video would be 100 times more entertaining for you
6:35 Scottish shot (i think, i forgot lol not whiskey bottle) and BONK! Atomic punch (energy drink) 9:22 Yes, but it must be compatibe with your class, so like, no medics with miniguns or spys with wrenches
Yes you can pick up other people's items as long as they were for the same class as your's. In this case, scout couldn't pick up the razorback because it is an unlockable for sniper.
I don't know if someone already pointed this out, but this was a fan-made video! The other 2 tf2 videos you've reacted to, were officially animated by Valve!
The rise of the epic scout is a sfm series that is rlly well made. I think it would be rlly cool if u checked out the other vids that go with the series ( plus there’s some good lore) Edit: the animation is a lot better then the one you see here
To explain the Spy "dying" multiple times is because he was equipped with the Dead Ringer, an actual weapon in the game. The weapon lets you enable to feign your death upon taking damage, and once you take your damage, there will be a fake corpse to trick the enemy while you are invisible so you can flee from the scene.
Technically you can pick up the enemy weapons in game, but only if they’re the same class. For instance, a scout could steal the enemy scout’s scattergun, but not the enemy sniper’s huntsmen. You can only do this After they are killed, of course
So the soda and whiskey healing scout is actually realistic to the TF2 lore. In a scrapped trailer for medic he discovers his healing formula by mixing alcohol, the scouts soda, and blood
You can pick up other items in the game as a sampling measure however they usually can't go cross-class like they do in this video Also the medic can make anyone invulnerable or give them critical hits And no scout cant steal Also, TF2 has due to the fandom have become its own self sustaining universe... And that one was in the freak fortress variant timeline. In that knowledge I think you will enjoy like white on Spy or the Rabid Heavy Taming Engineer a lot better
That ain't caffeine matey. The Bonk Drink be a fictional radioactive energy drink that makes ye do bullet time in the game. Ye drink it and people can't hit ye cause ye be too fast. (TF2 may be set in 1972, but it be possessin' several science fiction elements too.)

14:30 The main draw is that this video's basically an action movie. That's it. Cool fight choreography, mixed with with the IP recognition of TF2 and using the gameplay mechanics to set up cool scenes and moments.
I reccomend watching those animation:
-The Bolted Bohemoth
-Live and Let Spy
-The Red, The Blu, and The Ugly
Its all connected episode and The animation is good because is from 1 of Good SFM Animator named
"The Winglet"
The Winglet is GREAT, sometimes better than valve
That wasn't coffee that was Bonk. It is literally so sugar filled and radiated that it will liquefy your asophogas in one sip. In game it lets scout become invulnerable but loses the ability to attack.
When it comes to TF2, it’s expected that very little makes sense.
Oh you poor fellow. Bonk is not coffee.
Ingredients for bonk: water (radiated), isotopes (unstable), nutmeg, high fructose corn syrup, high density corn syrup treacle, dehydrated ultra dense corn solids, beef stock (irradiated)
Source: collectable bonk drink tumbler from the steam merch store
Well the animations and plot idea is references to videogames and comics. The fact the animator takes time to creat a whole video coagraphy that goes for so long without repeating alot of the same animation is what I like about it. Crash maul has done sequels to this and the animation gets even better. I would reccomend checking them out. Battle for sawmill is my favorite, but you should watch Rabid Heavy Tamer Engineer since it is after this video in the Crash Maul tomeline.
Left out probably the best part with the heavys mini-gun falling back down and landing on red scout
9:24 you can pick up other enemies items in the game, BUT
Only if you're the same class as the enemy who got bodied.
He already watched it except for the Like White on spy
3:02
eyeballing it here, but I believe the "vibrating head" is a reference to another SFM called "cocainum" where everyone was high on drugs after drinking from Scout's soda.
The bonk soda has like radiation or something, mix that from a cursed man's whiskey and you'll prob get a super soldier😂
whisky and a highly irradiated soda, not coffee
Bonk is both irradiated, and somehow has several times scouts bodyweight in sugar
Pretty wild.
reason that scout good resorected is the BONK ATOMICdrink is a radioactive energy drink made for scout soo the radiation +some other chemicals mixed with the alcohol so and made scout get revived
he should react to some of the wingets animations
Medics do commonly stick around Heavies, but it's mostly new Medics. It's better to heal your team more evenly as you get Ubercharge much faster that way and there's not much point healing someone who's already fully healed anyway. Staying at a high point is usually not advisable, however, as you're open to Snipers who can still take out the Heavy quickly with a headshot (sometimes two headshots) unless Ubercharge is activated.
ok about the energy drink
ingame it is made with ACTUAL CHEMICALS not the drink level but atomic level and that is the reasn it is called "Bonk! Atomic Punch"
idk how that healed him but ingame it makes you being immune to being shot for a few seconds tho
Medic can make any class invulnerable, and there’s a lot of damage drop off with distance in the actual game.
Alternatively, he can also give critical hits, heavy regeneration or protection against critical hits, depending on the weapons equipped.
That thing what heales him is not coffee ot's some kind of weird soda that gives ypu invicibility for some seconds
Fun fact: demoman's beer + scout's bonk atomic punch + blood is how medic's medigun was created
I recommend Winglets videos. They're very well animated and funny. You should start with "Live and Let Spy"
This is actually a fan made animation that's why it's a bit cheesy but it does show some of the items in the game like the dead ringer which allows you to feign your death as you see in the animation
Also it is possible to get the weapons of other dead players but you need to be the same class as the person who died
That intro with the mic was pretty slick gotta hand it to you
Scout is fast class who faster push and faster cap point, other class slowly cap point, and scout is good on 1v1.
Ammo like you have a pump shotgun for soldier and you kill scout which has a lever action shotgun you could pick up his gun and use it for ammo
A side note, this video HUGELY references tf2, if you played the game regularly and understood all of its ins and outs, the video would be 100 times more entertaining for you
Well you can pick up other players weapons but they have to fit for you class
Ah ok
6:35
Scottish shot (i think, i forgot lol not whiskey bottle) and BONK! Atomic punch (energy drink)
9:22 Yes, but it must be compatibe with your class, so like, no medics with miniguns or spys with wrenches
Actually you can pick up weapons in TF2 nowadays but that wasn't a feature when this video was made and you could only pick up items for your class.
Yes you can pick up other people's items as long as they were for the same class as your's. In this case, scout couldn't pick up the razorback because it is an unlockable for sniper.
My favorite TF2 fan made video is probably Pootis Engage. Worth a look it’s pretty funny
In team fortress 2, no matter what class you are, having the high ground is always the best advantage in a fight, especially in a small 1v1
It's not a coffee it's a radiated energy drink that is a weapon in the game
12:13 its not coffee, its energy drink and its radioactive, thats probably why
team fortress 2 the game is unique, it is not like other games
you can grab enemies weapons but if you look just like the enemie but from the other team you can pick it up
The soda drink put on scout in game makes u dodge all incoming bullets so that's why this is very weird
to be fair, Bonk atomic punch doesn't (as far as I'm aware) contain caffine, but radioactive isotopes and 11000% your recomended daily dose of sugar.
I don't know if someone already pointed this out, but this was a fan-made video! The other 2 tf2 videos you've reacted to, were officially animated by Valve!
well the Bonk atomic punch (the soda) it is acombination of rhelimit amount of sugar multiplied 100 times more radioactive or nuclear waste ( no joke)
Bonk (the yellow can) is not just an energy drink. Its an radio active energy drink
in the tf2 game yes you can pick up another enemy's guns as long as they are the same class as you
Well the soda is actually bonk or one scouts sodas that has way more sugar in it then his body can actually handle oh and it has some radiation in it.
Scout bonk is not coffee but The labels for Bonk! Atomic Punch list the ingredients as water, radiation, and sugar.
Welcome to a new part of tf2 where it will surprise you completely.
The rise of the epic scout is a sfm series that is rlly well made. I think it would be rlly cool if u checked out the other vids that go with the series ( plus there’s some good lore)
Edit: the animation is a lot better then the one you see here
Fun fact: After Scout gets his powers, he doesn't say one word until he kills Spy. It's like he completely turns his personality off.
Actually the bonk is not coffee. And whiskey + bonk = the medic's healing juice
Technically you can pick up the enemy weapons in game, but only if they’re the same class. For instance, a scout could steal the enemy scout’s scattergun, but not the enemy sniper’s huntsmen. You can only do this After they are killed, of course
Can you pick up multiclass weapons? For example :Can Scout pick up Engineer's Lugermorph?
So the soda and whiskey healing scout is actually realistic to the TF2 lore.
In a scrapped trailer for medic he discovers his healing formula by mixing alcohol, the scouts soda, and blood
You can pick up other items in the game as a sampling measure however they usually can't go cross-class like they do in this video
Also the medic can make anyone invulnerable or give them critical hits
And no scout cant steal
Also, TF2 has due to the fandom have become its own self sustaining universe... And that one was in the freak fortress variant timeline.
In that knowledge I think you will enjoy like white on Spy or the Rabid Heavy Taming Engineer a lot better
One more thing I just notice that heavies outfit with the head band looks like Rambo
9:22 only if the dropped item can be used by your class
6:38 Thats not coffee thats bonk-atomic punch, energy drink with 15lbs of sugar and nuclear radiation
That ain't caffeine matey. The Bonk Drink be a fictional radioactive energy drink that makes ye do bullet time in the game. Ye drink it and people can't hit ye cause ye be too fast. (TF2 may be set in 1972, but it be possessin' several science fiction elements too.)
Yes. In fact you can only pick up the enemy player's weapon when the weapon is suitable for your class.
You can pickup enemy items that your class can specifically pickup unless it's multi class
None of this is in the game, no taking weapons, no walking up walks or bullet time. This is 100% for pure enjoyment and cool scenes.
